About the property

House, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1.5 Baths, (Sleeps 2-5)

Looking for seclusion? This beautiful spot is a must!

Though Indian Pointe can accommodate up to five people, it is best appreciated as a romantic hideaway for 2. Enjoy all the comforts of home and more, while you relax in the outdoor hot tub overlooking the Kalamazoo River and Potawatomie Marshlands.

Bird-watch from the screen room, ride your mountain bikes, kayak through the marsh, cross-country ski, take your puppy for a long walk in the woods, then cook in or out...all with a view to behold. Chances are you won´t want to leave to dine out, but fine dining options in Saugatuck & Douglas are only a moments drive away.

Cedar walls, vaulted ceilings and an entire east wall of glass blend the house with its surrounding 2 acres of woods and river front. Snuggle in front of the fire, share wine on the screened deck, fish from the seawall, spot bald eagles circling the marsh, and listen to the ancient cries of the Sandhill cranes without leaving the property.

A 5 minute drive places you in the heart of Saugatuck, and in 7 minutes you can be stretched out on Lake Michigan´s Oval Beach, rated one of the 5 most beautiful beaches in the country! So whether your vacation plans include wild life or the WILD life, Indian Point will be one spot you must revisit time and again.

Other amenities include: WiFi, riverfront fire pit, DISH TV, central AC, washer & dryer.

About Lynda (616) 836-2719 or Jody (269) 223-0107

Joe and Lynda Petty moved to Saugatuck in 1983 when they purchased The Park House and converted it into a bed and breakfast. Falling in love with the area, we purchased the property at Indian Point to have a place to 'retire' once our innkeeping days were done. Indian Point was the first property in our rental program and it became such a successful rental that we only get to use it ourselves a few weeks a year.

Lynda (616) 836-2719 or Jody (269) 223-0107 purchased this house in 1995

Why Lynda (616) 836-2719 or Jody (269) 223-0107 chose Saugatuck

The first time we took a drive down 131st Street we both said, 'Boy, we could sure live here!' Ten years later we needed a break from the inn so we took a drive to an advertised open house. When we walked in the door and looked over the marsh we decided we had to have the house. Even though it was the Saturday of Labor Day , we put the deal together before the end of the weekend.

What makes this house unique

Our 2 favorite activities are relaxing in front of the fireplace and sitting in the hot tub! We never even turn the jets on, preferring instead to hear all the sounds of the marsh at night. The grandsons really like fishing from the seawall and taking the 2 person kayak around the marsh is a wonderful way to touch nature. New in 2016, patio deck overlooking the marsh and flag stone patio with fire pit at the waterfront.

Left on Oct 9, 2017 for a stay in Sep 2017 (This review was originally posted on Trip Advisor and received 5 stars)

This tranquil retreat just five minutes' drive from Saugatuck has the most breathtaking view out three doorwalls!

My husband and I expected to enjoy our stay in this cottage nestled in a wooded subdivision, just a few-minutes drive from Saugatuck. We knew it backs to the Kalamazoo River, and expected to enjoy the view, the tranquil surroundings, and the hot tub. However, this home exceeded our high expectations. First, the view took my breath away; it never got old. The elevation and combination of door walls, windows and screened porch off the back and side of the home provide a treehouse atmosphere, while cozy woodwork and furnishings convey warmth. We spent many hours sitting in the screen porch enjoying the sounds of birds and crickets chirping. There is also a brand-new exterior staircase down to the water level--with a deck and adirondeck chairs at a midway point--allowing easy access to the river. Wish we had some experience kayaking, as there is one available, and I would have enjoyed exploring the river! We had a lovely picnic lunch by the water. There is also a patio with fire pit and lounge chairs there, as well as a swinging bench. We appreciated the wooded surroundings in the front yard and neighborhood, and took several pleasant bike rides. Finally, the home was immaculate and the very thoughtfully arranged with every comfort in mind. It was truly a wonderful romantic getaway.

Had an awesome time!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our time here, and hope to return some time. The owners have put a lot of effort into making it enjoyable and it shows. The rental is on the older side, but it really only adds to its character. We enjoy being right on the water, and LOVE the view from the hot tub. It's probably our favorite thing about this place, and we used it every day (except for check out day). The view from everywhere in the house is great, especially from the king size bed. A great way to wake up every day. We love Saugatuck and also Holland, so there's plenty to do in the area. This trip we also visited the Gilmore Care Museum (near Kalamazoo) and really enjoyed it.

Appreciate lots of little things about this place, for example the dishes and towels are as nice as we have at home. The candy on the table is a nice touch and having the wood for the stove so close was nice as we used the stove alot (plus a handy wood carrier). We had one very rainy day, but enjoyed just relaxing at the house, starting a fire, and watching a blue ray (picked up at Red Box). Just a great mix of cozy and secluded, but close to town, and the drive to town is beautiful when the trees have their fall colors.

We have just one complaint, and that's the water pressure in the shower. Sounds like a little thing, but on the cool mornings it was hard to generate much warmth in the shower.

But we really enjoyed this place, and had a great stay. Thank you so much!!

Owner's Response: Thanks so much Jan! We hear you on the shower pressure- more of a rain shower than a thunderstorm. Plumber says we need to update pipes in the wall so we have a complete bathroom remodel in the works!! This Fall it’s new bedroom carpeting, new front door with keyless entry and a few more window upgrades. Then next Fall a whole new main bath! I hope you’ll come back and check it out!

Cozy place with plenty of room for a weekend getaway

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for a weekend in September and can't wait to come back! The place is perfect for a weekend getaway and big enough to relax well inside and have more people if you wanted (it was just the two of us). The place is tucked away so you feel secluded but you are just minutes from Saugatuck and Douglas. The hot tub was great - even though it was unseasonably warm during our stay. We took the provided tandem kayak for a paddle in the marsh - so great! The fireplace by the water was great. The owners were very good and quick at communicatin. Will definitely be returning!

Relaxing getaway

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed relaxing at the house. It was so nice to be able to bring our dog and not have to worry about her being boarded. Loved the view and snapped some great pictures of the moon on the river. There was a bit of confusion about the check in as we never received any instructions, but when we called the owner was very nice and helpful. We hope to return. It was lovely.
