About Kimberly Christenbury
I am a real estate agent in Charlotte, NC. I am happily married, with 2 beautiful kids. My husband and I visited Lake Lure on a vacation in 2006, and fell in love with the area. After that visit, we decided to begin looking for a cabin of our own. When we found Sadie's Retreat, we knew it was exactly what we were looking for! It has all the charm of a mountain getaway, but located close to all the activities that Lake Lure has to offer.
Kimberly Christenbury purchased this Cabin in 2008
Why Kimberly Christenbury chose Lake Lure
Lake Lure is such a beautiful location. It has both the mountains, and the lake area. When we visited Lake Lure in 2006, we just couldn't get over all it had to offer. The mountains, lake, hiking, fishing, boating, shopping, great restaurants, vineyards, and much more! We decided that we had to share this location with others. We searched for just the right cabin for over a year. When we found 'Sadie's Retreat' we just knew we had found the perfect place. The view was so amazing, and the front porch allows you to relax from the hustle and bustle of every day life.

The cabin rental was very nice and cozy. Driveway a little steep with gravel but, very nice stay. Local area very nice, didn't run into any snubs. Big ups to Victory Kitchen, El Lago, La Strada and Madina's Village Bistro very good food and customer service.
Perfect location and great price. The cabin is close to everything but not so close that you get all the street noise. The landlord was very hospitable and responsive. The property itself was actually nicer than we expected and absorbed my wife and two kids perfectly. Would definitely go back.
Very nice cabin
Good overall rental experience
Not a good fit for us
In reading reviews from other renters that stay(ed) at this property many are perfectly happy with it. It just didn’t work well for us. If you wish to contact me I can provide a breakdown of reasons.
We enjoyed our stay
Sadie’s retreat was exactly what we were looking for. Close proximity to area attractions, off the main road and close enough to areas that we needed to get to. This is not our first rental through vrbo and knew the cabin would be stocked but Sadie’s retreat was so well stocked it made trips to the grocery store minimal. We especially liked that it was stocked with enough basics such as seasonings to cook with, really nice dishes and especially cookware. It’s pretty difficult to stay in a place and attempt to cook but the cookware be so bad it ends up being a hassle which we have encountered in other rentals in the past. We enjoyed cooking and eating in the cabin. We loved the basket with pamphlets for local restaurants, trails and info about the area, this was an especially nice and thoughtful touch. It was nice to wake up and pull pamphlets out and just chose something to do. We loved that our cabin was pet friendly and even noticed the owners included pet toys and food/water bowls. Communication was easy and quick with the owner. Cabin was not difficult to find. The grill is in great condition. We will definitely be returning to the area and would love to stay again.
Small Relaxing cabin in the lake lure area
Enjoyed the cabin. Cabin is not directly on the lake but you can walk around the neighborhood for some fantastic views and a short drive to all activities
