I am a real estate agent in Charlotte, NC. I am happily married, with 2 beautiful kids. My husband and I visited Lake Lure on a vacation in 2006, and fell in love with the area. After that visit, we decided to begin looking for a cabin of our own. When we found Sadie's Retreat, we knew it was exactly what we were looking for! It has all the charm of a mountain getaway, but located close to all the activities that Lake Lure has to offer.
Kimberly Christenbury purchased this cabin in 2008
Lake Lure is such a beautiful location. It has both the mountains, and the lake area. When we visited Lake Lure in 2006, we just couldn't get over all it had to offer. The mountains, lake, hiking, fishing, boating, shopping, great restaurants, vineyards, and much more! We decided that we had to share this location with others. We searched for just the right cabin for over a year. When we found 'Sadie's Retreat' we just knew we had found the perfect place. The view was so amazing, and the front porch allows you to relax from the hustle and bustle of every day life.
We really enjoyed our stay here at Sadie’s Retreat. Thank you for allowing us to bring our dogs as this made for a ‘homey’ atmosphere for us. The kitchen was stocked well and the bedrooms were comfortable. The best part had to be the frton porch with its beautiful view of the mountains. The temperatures were pefect to allow us to sit outside and enjoy God’s wonders. The only things we didn’t see were the deer everyone talks about!
The long weekend getaway at this location was perfect. From the economical price, to the amenities within the cabin (satellite, internet, etc), to the deer in the front yard across the street each morning and evening, it fully met our expectations.
The kitchen was stocked with all needed utensils and accessories (even the corkscrew) and the bathroom was stocked with all the towels and toiletries needed.
I even got a chance to play some Tiger Woods golf on the Xbox. :-)
All communications were handled expediently and directions were accurate. The location of the cabin was convenient to Chimney Rock village and park, Lake Lure beach and lake access, as well as restaurants and the nearby Ingles.
I highly recommend a stay at this site.
My family and I had a wonderful stay at the cabin over Labor day. There was plenty of room, it was clean and the kitchen had all the amenities.
We enjoyed sitting on the porch relaxing, drinking coffee and taking in the amazing views of Chimney Rock. We loved walking our furbaby around Snug Harbor circle taking in the beautiful view of Lake Lure.
We had a wonderful weekend hiking the Triple Falls, wakeboarding on Lake Lure and walking around Chimney Rock.
Thank you for a great stay.
The steepness and structure of the driveway were a bit surprising. Our SUV handled it well, but it was rocky and uneven. Perhaps noting that for other renters would be beneficial.
Crisp, fresh smells
Perfect size for our family of 4
No issues with electric or plumbing or AC.
House was very cool during our August stay
We greatly enjoyed our week.
Perfect week, get away. Secluded home, quiet area. Beautiful scenery.
Enjoyed our getaway weekend at Lake Lure. Not having ever been there, did not know what to expect. The cabin was nice and the one bathroom turned out not to be a problem with 4 adults. Just never stayed at a unit with one bathroom. Unit was clean and well maintained. Some minor issues. The toaster button does not work. It is what it is, you could not adjust the settings. The air filter apparently had not been replaced in some time (why my son-in-law decided to check it, I will never know.) Totally clogged, but we replaced it, so you are good to go. Coming up the drive became a challenge. Better get that running start and try to miss those potholes. After a couple of tries, you learn the tricks. And you might want to check those gutters. Got a feeling they are clogged. More water coming out of the gutters than the downspouts. But at least it rained and that was nice. Not really complaining, just some basic maintenance that should be addressed. As far as Lake Lure, not a lot here. Chimney Rock would have been nice, but the elevator was out and walking that many steps was not in the game plan. The beach area was nice, but the Sunday night fireworks show was a big disappointment. Fifteen minutes and it was over. And all those people came for that? Plus having to wait two hours to eat at any restaurant. Don't mind the wait and crowds if a good show is about to happen. But no, once is enough. Thank goodness we were only an hour and a half away. Great place to get away and relax, but not enough to do to make one want to return.
Nice place to stay, though.
we had a great time on our short vacation. the cabin was very nice and had everything we needed. it was located perfectly for easy access to all the activities in the area. we loved it!!
