Amazing location & view!
We loved our stay in this apartment. Overall, it was a fantastic experience. Key to this rental is the location. The view from the balcony is wonderful-great for morning coffee and evening glass of wine. Loved listening to the cathedral bells (and no, they don't go all night). We walked everywhere but it is also close to two Metro stations if you need to use. It's a quiet neighborhood, with very little street noise. The restaurant on the ground floor is delicious and there are two grocery stores very close by. The apartment was clean and the bed comfortable. The loft is a nice addition for families with children or young adults. I would not recommend it for small children as it is accessed via ladder. We were able to check in immediately upon arrival. When checking out, we accidentally left an important item locked in the unit. Phillippe was wonderful when contacted and came to our rescue in less than 10 minutes. The only things keeping this from a 5 star review are the items mentioned in Randall R's review from June 2019. I agree that these small inexpensive changes would make for a more pleasant experience. There are only two water tumblers in the apartment in addition to the many, many worn out wine glasses. A couple of ice cube trays instead of one broken one would be nice. The curtains in the bedroom are annoying as these are the ones most often used. Lastly, in all of my VRBO rentals in Europe and the U.S., I have never had to purchase my own toilet paper. There was only 1 1/2 rolls when we arrived--for an 8 night stay. I would stay here again however, because the location and balcony just can't be beat.
View is incredible!
Location is awesome! Loved looking out at the cathedral from the balcony. Charming and easy to walk to cafes and shops and museums, making it a perfect location. This could easily be our favorite spot with just a few (not too pricy but important) updates. Unfortunately, the place doesn't feel as chic as the photos. The 2 person couch is well worn and not too comfortable. The cute little chair in the picture is really small and the underlining is falling down. The curtains all need a good ironing to make them feel fresh and pretty rather than rumpled and shabby. The coffee table is super low to the ground and worn so the overall feeling is more a student's place than the adult's pied a terre we expected. The bath would really benefit from softer towels, tissue for your nose, a trash can, additional toilet paper, and a toilet brush. All small things that make a stay so much more comfortable when staying several days without daily service. The kitchen is utilitarian, and it would make a noticeable difference to have nicer wine glasses that aren't milky from age, and are restaurant size instead of cafe-style. The bedroom is small but that's to be expected. The curtains in the bedroom are on rods that are too big for them to slide easily, which is really annoying when you want to adjust the morning light. The bed is fairly hard and low to the ground, which adds to the student feel. We wanted so much to love the place, and we certainly did love its location and view. Our host/hostess were super - when we did have an issue with the elevator, they addressed it right away!
Centrally located, well-kept apartment and kind, responsive owners
This property is exactly as advertised. This is a lovely flat for a couple, or a small family. The kitchen is small, but well appointed and very usable. We used the balcony more than I imagined, and it was a lovely vantage point from which to take in neighbors walking dogs, and recount the events of the day. The building holds 10 units, in which other individuals and families live. The neighborhood is well-heeled and proximate to a number of ministry offices, so there is very much a presence of professionals living and working in this neighborhood. There is a wonderful restaurant, Le Basilic, located below the apartment (at street level). It is active during lunch hours and dinner time (beginning around 8). A nice little grocery is down the block, for supplies. It's an easy walk to cafes, brasseries and restaurants as well as shopping on St. Germain. The Eiffel Tower is about a 25 minute walk to the west, as is Notre Dame to the east. The Louvre is a 10 minute walk to the north. Taxis are fairly easy to hail about a block away.
The owners were able to accomodate our request for early check in so that we could deposit our luggage and begin touring the city as soon as we arrived Sunday morning.
My only critical observation - the floors are quite creeky, as the building was built in 1850, so one shouldn't be surprised. Placing larger area rugs might assist with the noise. We didn't mind it so much as being cognizant that the neighbors below might.
In sum, it was a wonderful, comfortable home-base from which a family of three could explore Paris.
Excellent communication and organization!
Beautiful apartment- perfect location
My family of 4 rented this apartment for a week and it was perfect! Plenty of hot water. So easy to walk to invalides, museum D’orsay, Rodin museum. There was a boulangerie and small grocery store nearby which my girls loved visiting in mornings. Fantastic restaurants within walking distance as well- we loved the Peking restaurant which was on cross street from apartment. The bedroom upstairs was perfect for my 2 children. Plenty of storage, with well stocked kitchen for cooking as well.
A charming, classy apartment, in a quiet neighborhood, yet close to major points of interest. Would certainly return. Overall an excellent experience.
