Villa de La Familia is a lovely villa that is the perfect getaway. It's like having your own little corner of paradise! The villa sleeps up to 12 people. The property is beautifully landscaped with tropical flowers, plants and trees. The pictures really don't do it justice ...it's so beautiful in person! The patio has a dining table, with 6 chairs, a couch, coffee table,a gas grill, a wet bar with 6 stools, a second refrigerator and a water cooler dispenser. Just a few steps down and you're under the kiosk which has a dining table and 8 rocking chairs. Walk down the path and you're in front of the swimming pool and kiddie pool. There are eight lounge chairs poolside. You will have your meals prepared and served by Isabela, your cook/maid. She's a great cook and serves you with a smile! She'll do your laundry and clean the villa daily. If you have a group of six or more people, then you'll have two maids at no extra cost to you. There is also an on premise caretaker named Ambiori, who keeps the pool and the grounds clean and is a help at all times.
You will love swimming under the spectacular stars at night. I can spend hours looking at all the constellations! Don't get me wrong, the nightlife in Puerto Plata is full of energy! You can dance at the disco all night long, enjoy a restaurant, go to the casino, or just walk along the beach....and everything I just mentioned is all within walking distance from La Familia. There is a lot to do and see in the Puerto Plata area too. Whether you choose to be on the go or stay at the villa and relax. I'm sure you will return home with many fond and funny memories!
Whatever you desire -- the choice is there!
This tropical paradise is waiting for you !! Give me a call !!
This is a picture of myself and La Familia's pup named Hippy. She's been at the villa since December 2012 and she'll be 3 years old in September. She loves people and is real sweet.
The property was beautiful. I stayed there with 6 of my friends for 8 days. We enjoyed the pool as well as the surrounding activities such as the beach and Ocean World. Sue gave use suggestions on what we should eat and where we should go. Isabella was super sweet. We got treated like hotel guests, breakfast made every morning, at our request and laundry as well as beds were made. The rooms were cleaned everyday. Overall, such a great experience! I felt just at home, would definitely stay here again when I return!
As a large family who has frequented resorts often, we decided we wanted to experience Puerto Plata in a different way. We found "Villa De La Familia" online and decided to give it a try.
From the first phone call with Susi, we found her to be helpful, knowledgable and kind. She explained that it was a beautiful property that we would enjoy with our family. She was more than right. Villa de la Familia is a gorgeous property that we fell in love with the second we walked into the backyard oasis. It quickly became a piece of paradise that we spent hours enjoying. I have yet to stay anywhere with such a perfect property to enjoy with our family. From the lounge chairs, to multiple outdoor eating areas, we didn't need to, nor did we want to go inside! The large, gorgeous pool provided hours of fun and enjoyment for all of us.
The house is very spacious, updated, clean and staffed with beautiful people that make sure your stay is comfortable and easy. From meals, to laundry, to keeping the grounds beautiful, the lovely staff went above and beyond to make us feel like we didn't need to think about much during our stay.
Having teens and young children, the location of the villa was ideal. Right at the entrance of Ocean World, a minutes walk to the beach and local delicious restaurants, it was a very convenient location for all ages.
We are so grateful to have stumbled upon this beautiful home to stay with our family. I know we will be staying here again to revisit paradise in the form of "Villa de la Familia". Thank you Susi and staff for such a wonderful holiday experience.
Coming together here from different continents, the nine of us spent a wonderful two weeks in Villa La Familia in July 2014. Pampered in every way by Isabela and her assistant Mirabel, as well as go-to-man Ambiorix, we needed to do nothing but swim in the pool, go to the beach, go on several excursions, eat (too much :-) ), and play all kinds of games with cards and dice etc. with the whole family into the night. Even the little glitches here and there such as power outages turn into delightful anecdotes in a place as enjoyable and relaxed as Villa La Familia in Cofresi. Susi was always reachable by e-mail, and manager Gabino helped with the logistics, so that we never felt left to ourselves in a foreign place even though this was our first time in the Dominican Republic.
All rooms in the house are on the same level, thus easy to navigate even for people with walking difficulties. The pool in the back yard was a hit with the kids and adults alike. The beach is less than a 5 minute walk away. It can be a bit dirty especially on the weekends when it's quite popular with the locals. But the water seemed clean and we swam quite a bit in it. It was clear enough for some snorkeling when the waves were not too big; though there are better snorkeling/diving beaches along the shore but one has to drive there from the Villa. All organized tours have quite a bit of a commercial aspect to them. i.e. wherever you'll stop, you'll be able, if not urged, to buy something made and/or sold there. If you can get Ambiorix to help you organize some outings yourselves and maybe even accompany you, you may have a less commercial experience.
All in all, it was a wonderful vacation, highly recommended. Thank you Susi for making your little paradise available to other people.
My family just returned from La Familia on Friday 11 May. We enjoyed a week at the villa. We chose La Familia based on the reviews we had read and hope that my review helps also with your decision to visit. From start to finish Susi made the planning so easy. Susi answered all our questions and even helped in getting a golf cart for my dad to use while in Cofresi. (he has trouble walking) Upon arrival we went straight to the back yard - it is truly stunning! Your own private resort! We spent a ton of time in the pool! It was kept sparkling blue daily by Ambiori. We had all ages in our group from 7 to 70 and all enjoyed the villa very much. The food cooked by Isabella is really unbelievable. She was so accomodating, making our favourites and helping us try new things. Isabella and Nikki are lovely ladies who work very hard every day. I have never had so much clean laundry after a vacation! The inside of the villa is simple but everything works perfectly - I know in some hotels in DR the air conditioning barely works, but at la familia you will be turning it down, it works so well you could actually get cold!
We enjoyed how close the villa is to Oceanworld - lots to see and do there from the sports bar, to the disco to swimming with the dolphins! Easy walking distance!
If you are a family with all ages than La Familia is for you. Put the kids to bed and the back yard, kiosi and outdoor bar becomes your private party area for the evening. Dancing under the stars and sipping Mojitos! Doesn't get better than that!
Susi had recommened an excursion to see the falls nearby. I have to say I work in the travel industry (22 years) and I have never had more fun on an excursion ever. The falls is a must do experience! (Note - It is an active adventure for the healthy!)
Thank you Susi, Ambiori, Isabella and Nikki for helping make our family vacation so special. We have already recommended La Familia to friends and I know they will enjoy their vacation as much as we have.
Villa de la Familia is a gem for those who want a relaxing carribean vacation with the comforts of a private home and personal staff that is very attentive, humble and accommodating. The back patio, kisko and pool area is extemely spacious and more beautiful than the pictures show. There are many outdoor sitting areas to enjoy and even with a large group in the home, there was always ample space to break into smaller groups to play cards, dominoes or simply have some privacy. Bring mosquito repellent so you can enjoy the warm evening air in comfort if you are prone to being bitten. Nighttime swimming under the stars is a must!
Isabella, Ambioris and the other staff were always pleasant and we were very pleased with their hard work and efforts to make our stay comfortable. The food was absolutely delicious! Except for a couple of late night meals out, we ate in throughout our stay because Isabella's cooking was amazing. She has a strong command of the kitchen and a large repertoire of dishes. She was able to accommodate the different palates in our group, ranging from teenagers to vegans. She has a menu book that is helpful if you want her to do the shopping for you. She was also just as comfortable with us bringing home groceries and asking her to either make something specific or just to be creative with what we bought. Ambioris cut down coconuts for us to have fresh coconut water and sweet, ripe mangos were falling from a beautiful, huge mango tree in the backyard every day!
The proximity of the beach to the villa is a huge advantage. The crescent shaped beach is perfect for long walks and refreshing swims. There are a few outfits offering water sports and local vendors, but the atmosphere is very laid back and you are not hassled on the beach. If you enjoy nightlife, "The Lighthouse" is an lively, classy and reasonably priced dance club at Ocean World on the top floor of their casino. You can safely and easily walk there at night. If you are adventurous, somewhat in shape and a bit of a risk taker, we also suggest visiting 27 charcos, a hiking/waterfall outing on a beautiful river in the mountains. The guides help to navigate up river before taking you back down the waterfalls by sliding down the naturally formed "water slides". Make sure you leave any jewelery in the safe at the villa because the force of the water is powerful and you can easily lose or damage it.
This Villa is a lovely place to enjoy many things this beautiful island has to offer.
This vacation was our first time traveling to the Dominican Republic, and we could not have chosen a better place to stay than Villa la Familia. It was located less than a block away from Ocean world and the beach, so we could have plenty of fun without even needing a taxi. Isabella provided sumptuous home cooked meals three times a day that were so wonderful! We actually tried a restaurant, and afterward decided that it was less expensive to just buy groceries and have Isabella prepare the food, and it also tasted MUCH better than the local dining available. Ambiori kept the the grounds and pool well maintained, he even pulled down a few coconuts down from the tree in the yard for us to enjoy! Together they provided us with high quality service that was only a fraction of the cost of the nearby lifestyle resorts that we were also considering. They were so nice to us and truly made us feel welcome for our entire stay. We never had to worry about anything because there was a night watchman on duty from 6pm- 6am, so no one could even enter the villa property without our permission. The area was totally safe, so much so that we could comfortably walk home from the Ocean World casino to our villa late at night with no worries. Reserving the villa from Susi was a simple no hassle process, and i will definitely visit here again and refer it to anyone considering travel to the Dominican Republic! The actual villa is even prettier and larger than the pictures being displayed, and you will definitely know that you made the right decision at an incredible price the moment you lay eyes on the place! Thank you so much Susi!
