Beautiful country residence with private swimming pool in the heart of Apulia, between the Salento and the Valle d’Itria, a few kilometres from Ostuni and its magical beaches. Immersed in centuries old, silvery olive groves framed by traditional dry stone walls, this special residence, the result of the careful restoration of a small group of Puglia’s characteristic “trulli”, preserves its original architectural structure and the typical cone-shaped roofs. Ideal for large families or groups of friends, the property includes a spacious common area with living room, kitchen and bathroom and five adjacent apartments with kitchen corners, bedrooms, bathrooms and independent entrances. The cosy interior in warm natural colours is a perfect blend of tradition and modernity. Particular care has been taken to detail and in the choice of materials. The well-kept garden, large swimming pool and gazebo with dining area offer great possibilities to relax among the scents and colours of the Apulian countryside. The residence is also a great base for exploring the local area. The famous towns of Martina Franca, Ostuni “the white town”, Alberobello, a UNESCO heritage site and Lecce “the Florence of the south” are just a short drive away, as are the Torre Guaceto nature reserve and the evocative Castellana grottoes and several golf courses.
The Apulia region has such a diverse history, culture, landscape and character that it is referred to in the plural: the Italians call the region \”Le Puglie”.
Its landscape is particularly varied in the area around the northern province of Foggia, featuring the Preappennino mountain range and the Tavoliere delle Puglie plain alongside the Gargano mountains stretching along the Adriatic Sea, their green peaks rising in stark contrast to the golden corn fields and the deep blue of the Mare Adriatico. A fascinating piece of land that enchanted even the Holy Roman Emperor Frederick II (1194-1250), a man of excellent education and extraordinary intellectual curiosity, known in his time as \”stupor mundi” – the \”wonder of the world”. The emperor ensured wealth and growth in this part of his realm. Of the many buildings he left behind, two are of particular significance: the medieval Lucera castle and Castel del Monte on the northern border of the province, its octagonal structure loaded with mysterious symbolism. Modern travellers love Apulia especially for its variety. The fantastic blue sea lined with long sandy beaches is a constant companion along the panorama road from the coast to the Gargano mountains. The route also offers plenty of interesting encounters with medieval villages: Vieste, for example, with its impressive castello from the time of the Hohenstaufen emperor, Peschici built high up on an out-jutting ledge, Pietramontecorvino with its houses carved out of the local rock or the little town of Rodi Garganico – always swathed in the scent of the nearby citrus groves. Anyone longing for a treat with massages and spa treatments should not miss the thermal springs at Margherita di Savoia.
