This is definitely the nicest house we have rented here! The master suite is great. Love that jacuzzi tub and shower. Couches so comfortable.
The inside and outside of this home have great atmosphere. It's in a little country neighborhood next to the wildlife refuge, so you have some neighbors around, but woods out back. Inside is clean and well-maintained, with decorations fitting the rural area, but new, modern kitchen appliances and a fancy hottub. The deck and hot-tub area are out back where the view is -- since there is a little forest out there, you might have a few leaves/dead branches to sweep. We found the beds comfortable -- on the firmer side, as we like them. Nice place to either just hang out and relax, or explore and hike the area.
This cabin more than met our expectations. The entrance to the cabin has a small room which I imagine is great for ski season, but other seasons, it gives the guests more space to spread out. The living room, dining and kitchen area are wide open spaces with windows along the sides of 1 whole wall and tall ceilings which give a beautiful view out onto the woods and huge-huge deck. The living room is nothing but comfortable with 2 couches and a love seat. One couch and the love seat have a total of 4 recliners. The living room is complete with large screened TV, music CD's, books, magazines and movies. The kitchen is very modern with all appliances and every thing you would want in a kitchen plus organization. The bedrooms are a good size with a separate suite on the top floor. If you have someone with a physical handicap and they cannot go up and down stairs, the bathroom on the main floor does have bars for everything. Although it might be a bit tight for someone in a wheelchair. The best bathroom is upstairs. There is a jecuzzi and a separate shower. Downstairs has another huge deck, small game room, washer and dryer and another bath. The room also has a couch and TV.
This was the cleanest cabin I have ever stayed in and it is in very good condition. I would recommend this cabin to anyone I knew going into the area.
this was a very nice cabin. it is always nice to get away from the city life for a few days and away from home. it did rain on us every day but one but we had a good time. the couple of things that was on the negative side was the gas grill was on lower deck and the kitchen and outside table was all on main floor. we had carry the food to grill all the way downstairs and then back up again when it was done to eat. also the fire pit is on a hill. who can sit up hill or down hill around a fire?
Our family had stayed at your property over Thanksgiving 2009 and loved it so much that we decided to come back and spend Christmas 2010. My three grandaughters were so excited when we told them we were going back to WV. They had had such a good time the year before. We had a wonderful White Christmas and all the girls loved the snow.
Your house is so lovely and comfortable that it feels like home. I would highly recommend it to anyone. Thank you.

We stayed at this beautiful house in February of 2010 on the weekend when they got 2 feet of snow. The house was great and the accomodations were wonderful.
The only thing I feel the house lacked in was enough snow shovels to dig you cars and your way out of the door. Otherwise, the house was perfect and we had a wonderful time at both Canaan Valley and Timberline.
The Canaan Valley area boasts the highest elevation valley east of the Mississippi, offering cool and clean air. Summer brings lower humidity & temperatures rarely past the 80 degrees with cool refreshing evenings. Located mid-way between towns of Davis/Thomas (5 min) and ski resorts (10 min) Many nearby activities (white water rafting, fly fishing, mountain biking, scenic rail/trails, bicycling, golf, rock climbing, children’s activities in the nearby state parks, scenic lift rides, etc), Canaan Valley is an outdoor enthusiasts’ dream come true. Discover the autumn beauty with the foliage brilliance and diversity of color.
During winter, find the area blanketed with an annual average snowfall of 160 inches providing a winter wonderland. Two major downhill ski resorts, snow tube, ice skate, cross-country ski and quality lodging spells winter fun! Spring brings some of the best trout fishing in the east while the beauty of wildflowers is evident throughout the valley.
Golf: 18 hole golf course available at Canaan State Park.
Ski: Skiing available at 4 locations. Downhill skiing available at Timberline and Canaan Valley State Parks. Cross country skiing available at White Grass and Blackwater Falls State Park. Other snow activities include 1/4 sledding, snow tubing and snow shoeing at Blackwater Falls State Park.
