Three bedroom, 1 and a half bath house offers a tranquil setting for a summer vacation close to beaches, shopping, restaurants, golfing and entertainment. Complete kitchen plus washer/dryer and dishwasher. Living room with new sofa and chair for 2012. Walk out to patio off living room - and deck accessible from back yard stairs, make this an ideal spot for a family summer getaway, and the Soapstone Fire View Wood Stove makes the house cozy and warm during the off season. Local entertainment for kids includes Cartwheel Go-Karts, a state of the art Go Cart park with an arcade, bounce house and ice cream (across from the Tony Kent Ice Arena) and also the Cape Cod Inflatable Park only 3 miles from the house. For adults the Dennis Pines Golf Course is just 2 miles from the house. Tee times available. The whole family will enjoy The Cape Cod Rail Trail, 2 miles from the house with a bike shop and rental at the entrance and we're also 10 minutes to Bay Beaches.

About Brian Penney

My family is from Cape Cod. We have a long standing tradition, dating back to 1638. I currently live and work in New York.

Brian Penney purchased this house in 1997

Why Brian Penney chose Harwich - Harwichport

This house on the pond is a perfect paradox to my life in the city. With a well stocked refrigerator, I can spend days on Elbow Pond, escaping not only the city, but the crowds on Cape Cod seem to disappear with just a few quick turns of the road.

What makes this house unique

Peaceful, serene setting, yet close enough to shopping, beaches and restaurants to be considered smart and convenient. Hidden, yet easy to access.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Excellent Cape vacation rental

  • 5 of 5

This home was wonderfully located in private, peaceful setting on a beautiful, small lake in a nice neighborhood. Beautiful views of a cranberry bog from its private dock. We spent mornings and evenings sitting on the dock, watching wildlife including turtles galore and herons. The home is in our favorite town of Brewster with a short 10-15 minute drive to the beach and easily accessible to all areas of the Cape because of its mid cape location. The home itself was inviting, thoughtfully decorated with a beach/cape theme, cozy and very well stocked kitchen. Beautiful upstairs deck and downstairs patio. We cooked on the grill several nights. Our kids are 17, 23 and 25 and all enjoyed the home and its location. Brian, the owner, was quick to respond to all questions before and during our stay. I would definitely recommend renting this home.

Unforgettable experience

  • 5 of 5

Property is well maintained, has all amenities to make your stay comfortable. Our family of 6 ( 1 child and one senior including) fit well in 3 bedrooms. Leaving room, kitchen, patio, outdoor landscape added more space and comfort to stay.

Water view was pretty nice, though access to the pond is kind of messy and near impossible for those without enough strength. For others - pond did provide extra fun with frogs, lilies and kayaking.

Location is very good: quiet, close to shopping, shores, restaurants in any direction.

Special words about bicycling: local roads are perfect and Rail Trail is about 2 miles away.

Overall impression - very positive.

Beautiful and Relaxing!

  • 4 of 5

We had 7 people in our party and there was plenty of room for everyone. The house was clean and well maintained, but not fancy, and the kitchen was stocked with everything you would need for preparing and serving full meals. The owner Brian is responsive and answered the couple calls/texts I placed during our stay within a reasonable time frame. The house is centrally located and is, quite literally, 30-45 mins from everything. Check out Art's Dune Tours in Provincetown, and take in a whale watch while you're there. If you want a quiet, restful place for "home base" during your time on the cape, this is your place.

Beautiful and central location to stay!

  • 5 of 5

It really is a magical vacation home on a scenic pond! This is the second time we stayed at Brian's home the first time in 2006 and again this summer. The house is very central to many places including the rail trail, the bay beaches, the sound beaches and most importantly ice cream! It is very close to the rail trail which we used everyday for both biking and running. The property has a dock and we had our own kayaks and we rented a stand up paddle board for the day for our teenagers and they were out on the lake everyday. My favorite part was watching the sun rising each morning on the pond while still laying in bed. Wonderful place to stay on Cape Cod!

Fourth of July on Elbow Pont

  • 5 of 5

We love staying at Brian's on Elbow Pond. Have stayed her for over 5 years. Elbow Pond is peaceful and close to local beaches and great seafood places. I just love the early morning walks on Cold Storage Beach. Location is a convenient spot for visiting Chatham or the ocean beaches - without the hassle of the crowds. The house is always clean and quiet - the perfect place for a relaxing summer getaway. Can't wait until next year's visit!

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay on Elbow Pond. Quiet, secluded location but close to beaches, shopping and restaurants. Clean and well maintained with all necessary amenities provided. Would definitely stay at this magical vacation home again.
