Located on the Circle T Ranch, this Montana Stillwater Riverfront Home is a 2 bedroom 3 bath 2.800 sq ft luxury home located directly on the banks of the Stillwater River, one of the premier trout streams in America. If you're looking for a secluded Montana destination for fly fishing, wildlife viewing, exploring, whitewater rafting, horseback riding and ranching experiences on a multi-generational working ranch, you won't find a more spectacular location.
Decorated with original family antiques, this spacious retreat can accommodate 6 people (2 bedrooms with 1 queen bed each, daybed and futon areas upstairs). Large kitchen and dining area, great room, sauna shower, jacuzzi tub, radiant floor heat and wood stove, Wifi, satellite t.v., and the open floor concept allow the comforts of luxury living while enjoying old west atmosphere. This spacious home with the surrounding windows and decks allow unique wildlife viewing and photography opportunities on the owners ranch with panoramic views of the river, mountains, and surrounding landscape. An active eagles nest upriver provides entertainment as eagles fly the river fishing.
The Stillwater River, which flows into the Yellowstone is absolutely beautiful and wild. Enjoy world renown fly fishing for rainbow, cutthroat and brown trout right out the back door, whitewater river rafting, horseback riding, hiking, or just relaxing on the wrap-around porch or upstairs decks with the sounds of the Stillwater River. This is a 'locals favorite' river where anglers will experience first-class fishing with no crowds. Your own riverfront property to fly fish and explore the river.
Five miles from the quaint town of Absarokee, this riverfront home is at the end of a private ranch road only a short 1 hour drive from Billings.
Enjoy the Absaroka Beartooth Wilderness close by with unparalleled wildlife viewing, outdoor exploration, hiking, and back packing.
The route to Yellowstone Park from the ranch is a beautiful trip that takes you through the historic town of Red Lodge onto the Beartooth Highway to the Silver Gate entrance. Due to scenery and mountain switchbacks, it takes approximately 2 hours to get to this Yellowstone Park Entrance, it usually opens in late May and closes in September due to snowfall. Livingston to Gardiner offer an alternate entrance/exit.
Three wetland mitigation ponds on the ranch provide unique opportunities to view Montana's birds, wildlife, and flora in their natural wildlife environment. Photography and birdwatching opportunities abound.
Participation in ranching activities optional and always welcome.

Everything about this property is fantastic. This beautiful, antique filled house is located on one of the most beautiful locations ever. The river is fabulous and the fishing is great. I caught a beautiful Rainbow within 5 minutes of being unpacked and 10 yards off the back deck. Tim and Julie are wonderful hosts and will go out of their way to make this the most memorable stay you could imagine. I hope and plan on coming back another day.
We had an excellent time at Stillwater Sweet, including our dog, Maggie Mae. Tom and Julie could not have been better hosts. Home has everything anyone would need and its all in the Stillwater River Valley. Love the wrap around porch. Plenty of places to sit and do nothing or tie on that next fly. Short trip to Grizzly Bar in Roscoe or Cowboy Bar in Fishtail for some excellent steaks. We cooked on the grill enjoyed the cabin. Hope to be able to come back again.
Our family stayed at this home for 4 nights and we loved it. The Stillwater river that runs alongside this house is so beautiful and relaxing. The home is very comfortable and nice. Julie and Tim were the perfect hosts. They took us horseback riding which was so fun and Julie also took my daughter and her cousin on a hike. They are so easy to work with and very flexible and took care of everything that we needed. If we ever get the chance, we will return to this nice home and very special owners.
Our family stayed at the cabin for 6 days and my wife fell in love with the cabin the second we got there. Many antiques that remind me of my childhood but thought that would be a problem for our 13mo old baby but it wasn't a problem at all. The master bedroom has a bed that was extremely comfortable that our baby slept all through the night and had no problem falling asleep, the master bathroom allows you to relax in the sauna and hot tub. There is also a pool table and a poker table. The ping pong table is outside. At night you can hear the running of the Stillwater river, further relaxing you. Modern kitchen with everything you need. Binoculars are provided for you, there are toys in a chest if you have small children. There is also a baby gate too. The fishing is more than great, which is one of the reasons we chose this cabin. We caught rainbows, browns, and mountain whitefish. We saw a bald eagle flying over at around 6pm every night, bighorn sheep, snowshoe hare, deer, elk. The owners have horses, mammoth mules, sheep, cows, coyotes at night, and others. We took the bear tooth highway into yellowstone one day and highway 89 the other days. Absarokee is about 5 miles away with a small market and Columbus is about 8 miles away with a larger market, gift shops, fly shop, large gas station etc. Julie was a wonderful hostess and a joy to deal with, she made us feel right at home. I can't say enough great things about this place and the owners, Julie and Tim. I would highly recomend this cabin for the avid fly fisherman or those who wish to escape from civilization for a while. Thank you Julie and Tim for a most memorable time and we will be back again.
We just returned from a fabulous week at the Stillwater River Retreat. I can't say enough great things about this home, the location, and owners. The home is exactly as described - very tasteful western decor, well stocked kitchen with state of the art appliances, very private with lots of room and very homey. My husband said, "I could live here for the rest of my life." The location is great: only 1 hour from Billings; 15 minutes from Colombus (grocery store, pizza, hardware store, post office, fly shop, etc.); 45 minutes from Red Lodge; and only 5 minutes to Absarokee (smaller grocery store, gas station, ice cream stand, etc.). For the fly-fisherman, we caught lots of brown trout and rainbows right out the back door. This home affords access to lots of river frontage. We saw deer, turkeys, cranes and bald eagles on the property every day. In the nearby areas, we saw coyotes, elk, mule deer, and in the high elevations mountain goals, marmots, and pikas. Great central location for hikes to Mystic Lake, Sioux Charley Lake, and other hikes in the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness Area as well as other activities such as driving the Beartooth Highway, Whitewater Rafting on the Stillwater or Yellowstone Rivers, or just relaxing with a book next to the river. Nearby small towns of Absarokee, Fishtail, Nye and Roscoe have great character and a chance to see "The Last Great Place", Montana. (Did I mention the pool table, ping pong table and poker table provided hours of fun?) Thanks to Tim and Julie for their incredible hospitality. We can't wait to return and when we do it will be for at least 2 weeks as 1 week is not enough!
As well as Stillwater Riverfront fishing, the property has three wildlife viewing ponds which provide many opportunities for viewing birds and mammals in their natural habitat.
Guests can hike or ride horseback to the historic Bozeman Trail wagon snubbing post or travel the leisurely Mexican Joe Creek Trail. Both are located on private land of owner.
Horseback rides are individualized for guests.
