Guestbook comments from the owner

Mrs. Maria,

We left in such a hurry yesterday, I forgot to sign the guest book. I wanted to take a minute to let you know that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Blue-ridge, and are very appreciative of you renting out your beautiful cabin to us. I will defiantly recommend your place to friends and family.

Peacefully relaxing secluded location

What can you say when you are taking a vacation in a beautiful home on a beautiful creek. The numerous windows let the beauty come into the house, in any direction you could hope. The view from the master bedroom was UNBELIEVABLE. I could not have asked for a better location or home. The home was wonderfully stocked, comfortable and well taken care of. You can tell this owner cares for her property and her guests. LOVED it and going back again for Thanksgiving. My dog and I had a blast on the trails around the property playing hide and go seek. I just wish I had brought some bird feed. There are birds all over the place and bird feeders hanging on the deck. I saw deer tracks on one of the trails and would have liked to have seen some deer. Unfortunately, the weather was not great so I could not go out to the hiking trails in the area, but that will be my next trip, but I did get to see snow! I just LOVED it.

We spent the week of Thanksgiving at the cabin and quoted a total of 10. It never occurred to me to include the little kids 6 and under in the total. We had a total of 13 total for part of the week. We did an excellent job of cleaning up and followed the departing rules to the last detail. My deposit was withheld for "excessive linen use". The owner stated there were pictures and a cleaning quote but would never provide them. I noticed on the reviews she had done this in the past and assumed it was a bad business deal, but now realize it is actually a bad business practice. Do not stay here.

Owner's Response: YOU BE THE JUDGE!! The renter abused the opportunity to surpass the total of registered guests from 10 to up to 15 according to our guest book, she even admitted to this on her post!! We have been in this business at least 8 years and you can be the judge from our very good rating and return guests. In addition to exceeding the number of guests and bypassing the owners, the place was left in terrible and suboptimal condition. It took the property managers TWO consecutive DAYS and TWO cleaning STAFF to clean the place and put it back to rental condition!! This is the point of the economics that the renter fails to understand. We have been using the same management and cabin cleaning company for the time that I have rented out (approx. 8 years). According to them it was one of the worst exits they have ever seen. I do have copies of receipts and visitors register. The excessive linen comes from having to dry clean ALL of the comforters and steam clean the fabric on the sofa. Not from towels or linen. According to the managers description, walls, sofa, bedspreads, door mirrors, windows were heavily smudged by a syrup / chocolate like dried off substance. Doors, mirrors and windows as well. Requiring washing and scraping off, manually. The kitchen was a horror with heavily soiled pans. Refrigerator not emptied and not picked up. The renter insisted on the refund from shortly after departure and after several calls from her and explaining that I was waiting for the final property managers bill including two days and two peoplecrew for cleaning plus streaming and drycleating and thr renters continuous calls, texting, emailing and threatening to side A BAD Review I told her to do just that. I did not refund the deposit, this being the first time that I withhold 100%. Few other instances I have had to keep a partial deposit to cover fees and repairs. This time my expenses exceeded the security. And she exceeded the number of people in her party from the beginning!! Dishonest. I guess the kids to do whatever they wanted and the parents got to relaxand not clean up after them . YOU BE THE JUDGE! !

We loved our time at the cabin! Our three kids (5, 6 & 9) had a great time exploring the creek and hunting for gold. My husband and I barely moved from the rocking chairs on the porch. When I did go for a walk, I found the cabin was right next to a big park. The location was great -- practically across the street from Mercier Orchards (yummy fried apple pie) and just a hop, skip from downtown Blue Ridge. But we were so comfy at the cabin that we didn't want to leave! Look forward to our next visit. Thank you!!

Lovely home - Amazing family vacation!

  • 5 of 5

The Cabin is very spacious fully equipped and very well maintained. The land is beautifully lush with woodsy with nice hiking areas. The Socarras family is extremely accommodating and responds rather quickly to inquiries. The property is located just a few minutes away from attractions and shopping but just far enough to be really relaxing. There is a beautiful creek that flows in front of the cabin which my family enjoys very much. Morning coffee and dinners out on the veranda near the creek are the most memorable! Our 13 and 17 year old teens didn't even charge their cells phones a few nights because they were always outside with the rest of the family. We enjoyed the fire pit and made hotdogs and snores at night. We had the pleasure of seeing several cows and their babies walk along the creek every morning and it was truly spectacular for us city folks!

We are repeat customers and it's been amazing every time.

Dear Socarras family

Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us! We have made wonderful memories there.

A Great Time of Relaxation and Fun

  • 5 of 5

From the time we walked into the home, we were impressed. This well maintained home is an absolute gem. We spent lots of time relaxing on the swing and rocking chairs listening to the creek that wraps around the property.

The location was very convenient to the downtown Blue Ridge area as well as other attractions such as Mercier's Orchard (5 mins) and tubing (20 mins).

Do not consider the other negative reviews of this place. You will not be disappointed.
