Guestbook comments from the owner

Mrs. Maria,

We left in such a hurry yesterday, I forgot to sign the guest book. I wanted to take a minute to let you know that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Blue-ridge, and are very appreciative of you renting out your beautiful cabin to us. I will defiantly recommend your place to friends and family.

Thanks,

Calm and peaceful getaway

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I recently stayed at the Socarra's property and enjoyed a quiet and relaxing weekend away from distraction. The property was found to be exactly as advertised, well stocked and overall very comfortable. We spent most of our time out on the wrap around porch, roasting s'mores at the fire pit and grilling on the charcoal grill. The kitchen is fully stocked and the new couches in the living room were extremely comfortable. We did not take advantage of it, but the property is near sports fields and some hiking trails as well. If we ever decide to spend more time in the blue ridge area, my wife and I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Quiet and relaxing

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I were looking for someplace that was secluded and relaxing. Away from all the noise of life.

We found it right here at "Honey for the Bears".

Its located down in a little hollow at the end of a gravel road. Once we got out and heard the water running in the stream we knew it was going to be a great weekend. Each morning sitting on the porch drinking coffee and eating breakfast on the tables out there. Its was joyful. When it rained all day Friday we stayed in and spent most of the time reading and watching movies on the back porch listening to the rain. We even got our in the creek one time while it was raining.

Although it was just the 2 of us, the house was set up to host several more people with 2 more spare bedrooms and a loft. Very expansive gathering space in the dining/living room. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook the few meals we cooked.

If you come in make sure you do your calling before you get here. Because it is in a low hollow, the service was very spotty at times. But we got around that with an app to make calls over wifi, which worked just fine.

Overall, if you are looking to get away from it all and relax. And still enjoy some small town items in Blue Ridge, then this is the place for you.

Thanks for making it a great weekend for us!

Relaxing creek and charming house

  • 4 of 5

The house was great. It accommodated our group well 4 adults (1 couple, a family friend/mom, and a grandma) and 5 kids (13, 12, 6, 4, and 7 months). The loft slept 4 but has a very low ceiling that my teen boys complained about. Game console and games were not included as indicated in the details of the listing. Ample bath towels were supplied. Other items that were here that we found handy were: laundry hampers, liquid soap, picnic table by creek, kitchen was pretty well stocked for cooking. Cell service was close to nonexistent. The DSL Internet was almost useless. I know, we came to the cabin to disconnect but my husband's business is phone based. We were able to improvise but know that it will be an issue. We had several varieties of phones and service providers and all had trouble.

The sounds from the creek were amazing and relaxing. Cabin is convenient to stores, trails, orchards, and activities. We enjoyed zip lining, tubing and kayaking on the river, hiking to Long Creek Falls, visiting the orchards, and relaxing on the back deck. We will consider staying here again. We enjoyed our stay.

Tucked away gem

  • 5 of 5

A group of 5 of us stayed over Spring Break and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The Property is very close to the town of Blue Ridge with a great little downtown with shows and restaurants to explore. There are several grocery stores close by to stock up on once you got there. The area has plenty of hiking from beginner to advanced and wonderful horseback riding (shout out to Blanche Manor). The house itself is well maintained, spacious and well stocked. The house could easily have fit more people. The property the house is on is the real gem here. Close to a main road into town, but tucked at the end of the road it seems as if you are on your own. The stream provided hours of time for the kids playing with the crayfish, spotting salamanders or moving rocks around. The wrap around porch and large windows overlook the creek and the property and the way it is facing you feel as if you have the woods to yourselves. We stocked the bird feeders the first day and spent the week watching all the birds, including hummingbirds. Overall a great place to stay.

Peacefully relaxing secluded location

  • 5 of 5

What can you say when you are taking a vacation in a beautiful home on a beautiful creek. The numerous windows let the beauty come into the house, in any direction you could hope. The view from the master bedroom was UNBELIEVABLE. I could not have asked for a better location or home. The home was wonderfully stocked, comfortable and well taken care of. You can tell this owner cares for her property and her guests. LOVED it and going back again for Thanksgiving. My dog and I had a blast on the trails around the property playing hide and go seek. I just wish I had brought some bird feed. There are birds all over the place and bird feeders hanging on the deck. I saw deer tracks on one of the trails and would have liked to have seen some deer. Unfortunately, the weather was not great so I could not go out to the hiking trails in the area, but that will be my next trip, but I did get to see snow! I just LOVED it.
