These Springs are in reach: Silver Springs, Rainbow Springs, Silver Glen Springs, Juniper Spring, Salt Springs, Blue Spring, DeLeon Springs, Alexander Spring.

Just minutes away from the house you find access to the Cross Florida Greenway and the Marshall Swamp, a jungle-like wilderness. With lots of trails they offer a paradise for bicycling, hiking, roller blading, birding and wildlife watching.

Across the road is the Diamond Golf and Country Club, with 18 holes to play and the title 'Highest Slope Rating' in Marion County.

Goethe State Forest with it´s 23 miles of hiking trails and 41 miles of horse riding trails is only 40 miles away.

Supermarkets, drug stores, other stores such as a Walmart Supercenter and gas stations are also just around the corner.

You are within a radius of 80 miles or less to Orlando with all the amusement parks and outlet malls, as well as to Daytona Beach and to Crystal River. St. Augustine, the oldest continuously occupied European-established city and port in the continental United States is 85 miles away.

This beautiful bungalow is furnished, smart and comfortable. There are two double (queen) bedrooms and one twin bedroom. Master-bedroom has a big walk-in closet. Both bathrooms with a walk-in shower. The master-bathroom also has a bathtub. There is also a big kitchen, a recliner sofa, a double rocking recliner loveseat and a 50' flatscreen LED TV. The former garage has been converted into a carpeted, fully insulated multi-purpose room under AC with a Brunswick pool table for your convenience.

Nice home , unfortunate outcome!

  • 2 of 5

We rented this home for our trip to FL for a family wedding. Only correspondence we had with owners was via email (which was fine). The day before our arrival I wrote the owner asking about how we get in or who to contact. Birgit's response back was curt and made me feel as if I was bothering her because she apparently had to repeat herself. I was sure to reply and apologize for any inconvenience, Birgit assured me I was not (tone is hard to judge via email). Anyway, once we arrived, Linda (the cleaner and house manager) greeted us to show us around. Linda was very nice and went over the layout and basic info. We went about our week with no issues.

Check out was by 11AM on Monday. We gathered our stuff made sure dishes were clean and away, counters cleared off, normal upkeep and off we went. Shortly after leaving, I received this email from the owner "We are sorry but we can't pay back the damage deposit. You took out the pool cleaner and the pump sucked air. There is a BIG sign that points out to the consequences. Why did you do that? Maybe this doesn't even cover the costs!" I'll be honest, I was shocked. My first thought was "what is she talking about?" Myself, my husband, nor my in-laws saw a sign explaining not to take the pool cleaner out of the pool. So I replied back asking her to explain. I called Linda in the meantime trying to get more info and was then told via email not to call Linda as she is not the owner. Perhaps, Birgit should have picked up the phone instead of corresponding via email to further discuss. The issue is - Neither Linda nor the owner mentioned to us the importance of keeping the pool cleaner in the pool. We rent plenty of vacation homes with pools, have our own pool, and a family member who owns a pool company. Every manual clearly states "remove cleaner before swimming, unsafe." Not only was this unsafe for adults, but we had 3kids swimming and this could have caused a huge liability had they gotten tangled and drown. Obviously, there is an issue with the pool/pump at this home and I advised the owners to have this fixed before further renting their home. I also recommended they put a binder of "home rules / what is expected" on the counter for future renter to help take out guess work.

In the end, we lost our security deposit because no one mentioned the pool was not in proper running order. After I sent the owner a copy of a cleaner manual explaining the dangers, she emailed me back knit picking about cleanliness.

Owner's Response: Your safety deposit did not cover the expenses that occurred after your stay. A burned pool pump because you took out the pool cleaner and let the pump suck air for days. You left a messy house with food all over the floor. We tried to contact you after your insaulting call to our house keeper. You refused correspondence. Nobody can get strangled by a pool cleaner. Safety comes first for us. Never leave kids unattended in or at a pool, especially not small ones. All our many renters have been happy with us. They must have their reasons.

Looking forward to another visit

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful home for our mini-vacation! It's very comfortable, clean and gives you a feeling of home. The pool and patio area are fantastic; we enjoyed it very much. Linda, the property manager, is very friendly and nearby if you need her for anything. The pictures do indeed match the house. It's exactly as seen in the photos. The rooms are spacious and the furniture comfortable. Birgit responded very quickly to my emails, answering any questions I had. She is a pleasure to work with. We're looking forward to staying in her lovely home again.

Well Maintained Solar Heated Pool Home

  • 5 of 5

I stay at Birgit's home yearly because it is exceptionally clean, well stocked and Linda the housekeeper is nearby and available if you have a question or problem. The artwork within the home is beautiful too. You will enjoy the heated pool or a meal poolside. I come to Ocala each year to kayak and Silver River State Park is well known for the clear springs, abundant wildlife and even monkeys. There are an additional 6 river trips within an hour of the home. Birgit continues to improve the home having added the solar pool heat this year and a walk in shower. It is clear why she gets so many repeat guests and I will continue to be one of them.
