I stayed at this beautiful home from 12/24 through 12/28. My group of 11 had plenty of space to spread out at the house. We visited the area in hopes of skiing at Okemo, but was welcomed with warm 40-50 degree weather. We went skiing on Christmas Day and found the trails to be rather bare (no fault of the owners, of course). We were happy to return to the house to have our family meal after our day of "skiing". On the remaining days, we drove to Waterbury to tour the Ben & Jerry Factory, ate at Prohibition Pig (excellent place to eat and get some brews), shopped at Craft Beer Cellar (awesome shop), Cabot Annex Store, Lake Champlain Chocolates, Green Mountain Coffee Visitor Center & Cafe, Green Mountain Sugar House (Ludlow) and Crowley Cheese (Ludlow).
The kids love having the basement to themselves. They stayed in the bunk room and enjoyed watching their cartoons and playing foosball, air hockey and shuffle board. They were sad to leave.
We like having a washer and dryer to launder our clothes. It is in the basement bathroom. The only suggestion is to perhaps to add a light near the shower stall. It is rather dark. The kids were a little scared to shower downstairs and ended up using the bathroom on the 2nd floor (not a big deal).
We spent most of our time on the 2nd floor sitting by the fire place after dinner. The kitchen was well stocked. We made dinner each night and had more than enough seats to accommodate the group. Gerard told me about the view of the fireworks from the deck. WOW is all I have to say!
We were bummed that it snowed this morning, as we were packing up to leave. We definitely would love to come back to Okemo for a ski trip. When we do, I definitely will contact Gerard to see if this house is available.
We have stayed at this house twice and had a great time on both occasions. The first time we stayed we did have some difficulties with the furnace, but the local caretaker came right over and helped out (and the owner was quite responsive too, despite the holiday)!
We stayed for almost a week after Christmas and though New Years and it was wonderful. The house was clean and well cared for - even a pre-built fire awaited us in the fireplace. The owner replaced the fire doors on the ground floor and the carpeting in the basement, both of which were much appreciated this year. We grilled on the deck, had a New Years bonfire in the backyard, and shredded lots of fresh powder on Okemo. The mountain is a 5-10 minute drive away, very convenient. Only word of caution is to bring a car with four wheel drive or similar if you come in a storm - the driveway is steep, and even with the excellent plowing (the plows came about 5x/day during the heavy snows) it can be difficult to climb in a car.
This has to be one of the best views in the area. House and location are nice but the views are amazing.
Very Nice and house property - Very secluded with long ranging views - Cant wait to comeback in the fall.
Stayed at this house for the first time this past weekend. Very clean and well maintained. 4 Miles from two very nice restaurants (DJ's and Sam’s Steak House). Private with GREAT views. Feel s like we are on top of the world. Can’t wait to come back this winter.
