Perfect Getaway - a hidden treasure

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week in this lovely cabin, which we arrived to find very clean and ready for our enjoyment. The construction of the cabin is excellent with a lot of attention to detail. The rooms were big and roomy -- excellent seating in the living room area and the bedrooms had a lot of walking space and places to tuck suitcases and traveling bags out of the way. Our host had provided us a nice load of firewood and other niceties were found throughout the cabin -- books, videos, magazines, games, walking sticks, spices for cooking, shampoo, etc. There is a barbecue grill and a wonderful fire pit for roasting marshmallows. We can highly recommend this as an excellent place to get away and partake of the local activities, walk through the mown meadows to observe all the wildflowers, or amble down to the babbling creek nearby. Lots of privacy and a great respite from city-life and the pressures of day to day responsibilities. The owner(s) was friendly, helpful, and put us at ease to make our stay enjoyable to the max! The photos offered on this site are nice, but do not clearly depict how nice this place really is -- a hidden treasure indeed. Highly recommend!

Relax in the woods

  • 5 of 5

This was our second visit. We find this cabin very comfortable, private and relaxing. We enjoyed long walks in the woods and down by the creek. The goats are cute and very friendly. We had problems with the coffee maker and it was fixed right away. Sam & Nora are very friendly and want everyone to be happy with their stay. We will be back.

Comfortable rustic cabin on farm with creek and woods near Meramec River

  • 5 of 5

The two of us were seeking a cabin in the woods for a weekend getaway. The cabin was clean, with a fairly well-furnished kitchen, and a lovely gas fireplace. We were able to take a couple of nice short walks right on the property. It was just what we were looking for, and we left feeling rested and refreshed. Our only concern was the final three-quarter mile gravel road, that was quite rough, and probably most suitable for a four-wheel drive. It is a fairly short drive to a canoe /raft rental facility where you could start your float by some spectacular bluffs on the Meramec.

Great

  • 5 of 5

Property is so peaceful. Once you hit the property there's no cell phone service which was perfect. Forced us to just focus on nature and each other. The house was clean and everything we needed. We visited a vineyard with great food and wine not too far away. Was a great weekend.

One of the quietest places you'll find.

  • 5 of 5

My family and a family of friends rented the property in late January (4 adults and 3 children <5 years old). We loved it. The kids had a blast looking at the goats and walking the property. The kids especially enjoyed running around the woods. The fireplace was a nice perk. There's also a fire pit near the front of the house. One thing that especially stood out was the silence. The house is nestled in a small valley and the only other properties on the road are the owners' home and a neighbor's house, both of which are a decent distance from the house - the neighbor's seemed nearly 1/4 mile away. So, there's essentially no traffic and no noise.

I will note, however, that the road is bumpy in spots. We had a Rav4 with decent ground clearance and so had no problem. Our friends own a Nissan Altima with little ground clearance. They had no issues getting to or leaving the property, but they took their time and navigated the ruts well. Also, you will likely have little or no cell service along the last few miles, so consider printing out a map and/or familiarizing yourself with the road layout. In other words, assume your GPS will not work and plan accordingly. Sam helped guide us to the property when we ran into navigational problems, but we had to backtrack to get service and call him.

I highly recommend this property.
