Why Lucy Harkness chose Screamer Mountain
One day my wife was driving back home from North Georgia. She was telling me how beautiful the drive was. I had already been looking at a website with listings in Clayton and showed her some pretty affordable homes. We have a friend who owns a cabin on Screamer Mountain who showed us some properties. When we walked out on the deck and looked at the view, we were hooked.
What makes this Cottage unique
We have fallen in love with our little house and the town of Clayton. We happened to be up there the weekend of the Christmas Parade this past winter. We so enjoyed the small town feel. Sunrises, walks, cooking out, breakfast at the Clayton Pharmacy, Pizza from Mama'Gs, are some of our favorite things to do. We also love Goats on the ROOF! You can rent a boat at Laprades marina, hike at Black Rock Mountain State park or Tallulah Falls State Park. The Dillard House is a short 15 minute drive away.

I work in this area a few weeks every year. Trying to stay away from hotels during this virus, this place was recommended by a cousin. It is nice!! Great views, convenient location, and fully stocked. I plan on coming back anytime I am working here again.
Enjoyed the quaint down town
Fantastic property - gorgeous location
My wife and I stayed at The Treehouse for a weekend celebration of our anniversary. The home is beautiful, and the view from the back deck is stunning. The owners were quick to respond to any questions we had. The property was in tip-top condition. The hot tub is one of the nicest that we’ve ever had at a VRBO property (not having to deal with a heavy folding cover was really nice!).
We would highly recommend this property.
Lovely private Mountain retreat
We had such a restful two night stay here. It was warm, clean, secluded, well equipped and a lovely home away from home - the toasty warm hot tub was a welcome treat at the end of our Tallulah Gorge walk. We would love to visit again.
This home is just about perfect! We were finding ourselves wishing we owned it lol. The mountain views you get here from the kitchen and the back deck are just amazing. We watched the best sunrises every morning!
The house itself is just the right size. Only two of us stayed here but four could have very comfortably stayed. The house had everything we needed from working appliances, pots and pans, plenty of silverware and dishes. Oven worked perfect and the coffee pot is a large one (not a tiny hotel size which we have gotten before). Plenty of hot water in the showers and a working washer and dryer. Lots of good towels (not old and thin). Everything you could want to watch on tv, Roku, Netflix, HBO etc.……...Awesome gas fireplace that kept the house so toasty. Plenty of games, books, pamphlets, for information on the area. Speaking of the area it is a great location, Clayton is an awesome town. From here we went to the Smokey Mountains in NC and over to a distillery in SC and drove to Helen. Great location! However it is up a mountain! The drive is a little scary if you are not used to it but so well worth it. Overall we loved it! The only thing that kept me from giving this a five star was I thought it could have been cleaner. It was 'surface' clean but not deep cleaned. Lots of dust on lights and fans and doors and under beds. The walls definitely need a new coat of paint. The hot tub was working and awesome but when we opened it we had some leaves and bugs to get out and the rim of the hot tub needed to be scrubbed. The back patio where the hot tub is was not swept before we got there and the furniture and patio itself needs to be pressure washed. It didn't seem like anyone prepped the place before we actually got there, it seemed like it had been sitting without any touch up cleaning for awhile. However if that kind of thing does not bother you (and it really didn't bother us I'm just making an honest observation) then you will absolutely love this stay. The house is cozy and inviting and has everything you will need for a wonderful stay! We will definitely be back!
