About Brian and Sara Wilfong

Brian and Sara built Moccasin Lodge in 2007 and started renting for New Years 2007. Brian and Sara both grew up in Harrisonburg and went to school at James Madison University and have always enjoyed skiing at Massanutten Resort. Sara works as a real estate agent in Harrisonburg/ Rockingham area and Brian is a real estate investor. The couple has three young boys, Grayden (6), Chapman (4) and Hudson (2) who enjoy vising the vacation homes when they aren't rented. :)

Why Brian and Sara Wilfong chose Shenandoah Valley

The location of Moccasin Lodge is ideal. It is centrally located to all the resort amenities and only a short drive to the slopes. The owners are avid skiiers and have always enjoyed visiting Massanutten resort for skiing outings.

Brian and Sara have more recently enjoyed taking their kids to the waterpark and some of the outdoor festivities offered by the resort. They decided that a vacation rental property would be a nice property to own for guests looking for a true "four-season resort".

Wonderful home!

We had a great weekend at Moccasin Lodge. The home was perfect for three families. We enjoyed the hot tub after skiing and the kitchen was well stocked for cooking and dining. Having 2 coffee pots was perfect. We would definitely stay here again.

Was very quiet location. Wish the Jets in the jacuzzi in master bedroom would have worked .

Very nice but could use some maintenance done in house. Tank ran empty on grill and one a/C unit quit and they got that fixed in a timely manner while we were there. No dvd player either in house. Best wishes

Great space for large groups!

  • 5 of 5

We filled up the 14 person home with all adults and still felt there was enough room to move around. The hot tub was a great addition and the pool table was a lot of fun. Really great house for a very reasonable price.

Excellent house for 2-3 families

  • 5 of 5

Plenty of room. Beautiful area. Lots of fun with little kids - is equipped for babies and young kids alike. Full kitchen, plenty of sleeping room (probably could sleep 14 comfortably). Excellent house for a few days.

There were a few minor complaints - air conditioner on top floor didn't work a couple days but they fixed it and there is no fire pit as in description (neighborhood outlawed them).

We had a great time and i would go back.

Lovely fall weekend with family & friends!

  • 4 of 5

Our stay at Moccasin Lodge was very nice, for the most part. The layout was perfect for our 8 adults & 6 children. The pack-n-play came in handy & the open kitchen/dining/ living area was great for socializing with each other. The owner had recently replaced the flooring in the basement & stairs, which was lovely hardwood. It was clean & comfortable.

We did have some concerns about the property which we reported to Brian, the owner.

The grill was not cleaned & we could not use it, but Brian had a new one delivered on Sunday. The pool table was in the basement den, instead of in the garage, as pictured. It was too small a space & it meant the kids could not use that space to watch tv or play. Also, the fireplace would not stay on. We were told it had not been cleaned out yet for the season. We would have enjoyed the ambiance due to the 35 degree weather that weekend. The hot tub was great though!

Also, there were many lights that did not work. We left the owner with a list of which ones had to be fixed so he could have the property management people fix them. The driveway was gravel & had some ruts in it and was difficult to manuever with a van or sedan. There was ample parking for 3 cars in front of the house & along the road though.

All in all we still had a great time! We would definitely recommend this home if these issues were addressed!

Memorial Day Festivities

  • 4 of 5

We stayed in Moccasin Lodge Friday-Monday and had a great time. Great size home, very cozy feel, with lots of rooms and sleeping options. (rooms with 1 bed as well as rooms with bunk beds for doubling up!) The house was easy to get to, and we lucked out with the resort having their Valley Fest that weekend, which was a blast! (We walked to Valley Fest which was a little over 1.5 miles from the house.) Good size kitchen and fridge to store food for a couple of days and there are definitely enough pans and even a crock pot to utilize during your stay so you don't have to pack your own! They also provided linens and towels which was nice.

Really nice grill which was great for kicking off summer with a cook out and the double back deck came in handy so it didn't get too crowded on one level. The only cons I can think of is the house is on a hill so there isn't a yard to make use of (corn hole and our crochet set had to stay in the car) and there was not a fire pit as advertised so our s'mores will have to wait until another time.

Will definitely be keeping in mind if traveling back to Massanutten!

P.S. Be careful if you park at the bottom of the driveway! Gravel can be tricky in a smaller car!
