Finca Sambal exists of a detached Manor House in a colonial style, called SAFRAN, and an additional house containing the duplex halves MANGO and PAPAYA.

SAFRAN with its 160 sqm living space is a dream out of 1001 Nights. Enter the house through a corridor in a rainbow of colours from all shades of blue to red. There is a green bedroom and an orange one, not only painted but glazed by the land lady in week long efforts.

Directions: From the airport follow the signage to LOS LLANOS, the street (LP 1) leads you upwards through a tunnel to the other side of the mountains. From there the street leads you to EL PASO (beware of a speed camera at the 'Centro de Visitantes'). In El Paso turn right a the first traffic light until appr. 100 meter to the next traffic light, where you turn right again into the one way street 'Calle Manuel Tano'. Follow this street upwards and straight until a narrow crossing of the street 'Calle San Antonio', turn here right again and immediately left into the street 'Calle Acerjo'. The second house on the right hand side is the Finca Sambal (blue and purple), after 5 meters a path is sloping down to the parking lot.

Finca Sambal is centrally located on the sunny western side of the Island with spectacular views of the mountains of the Cumbre (the ridge, that divides La Palma into the eastern and western sides) and across the Valley of Aridane. The centre of El Paso is in walking distance (10 minutes), the Finca lies on the outskirts in a calm side street.

This small holiday resort exists of two houses, the old colonial style manor house and the rather newly built duplex house with the two units Mango and Papaya, surrounded by a sub-tropical garden.

The terraces and winter garden of all three units open to the secluded western side with panoramic views over the Valley of Aridane and El Paso to the ocean, also the pool area with the large sun terrace and the partly covered barbecue area. The swimming pool is roofed and therefore swimming is possible all year round. There is great walking or biking from the doorstep, passing well-tended canarian houses and garden, or meadows with horses and goats, surrounded by the woody slopes of the Cumbre.

This is a rural and original part of La Palma, far from any hectic and a little bit like from another time ...

El Paso is a village where traditions are still important, the original 'Fiestas' are still celebrated and the old men are sitting outside the bars, sipping their coffee and smoking their cigars.

But there are also plenty of shopping facilities: super markets, bakeries, health stores, souvenir shop and some fine restaurants.

The capital Santa Cruz and the airport are only 30 min by car, Los Llanos, the 'secret capital' is only 10 minutes and the beaches of Tazacorte, Puerto Naos, Charco Verde and Los Cancajos are only 15 - 20 minutes by car.

El Paso is a great starting point for exploring the island in every direction.

Sehr ansprechende und liebevoll gestaltete Ferienwohnung

Wir haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt in `Papaya´. Dazu beigetragen haben die gut aufeinander abgestimmte Einrichtung, die Erstausstattung mit Obst und Wein (herzlichen Dank!), dass wir unsere Lieblingsradiosender gleich auf Platz 1 und 2 programmiert gefunden haben, die großzügige Ausstattung mit Handtüchern, die Außengestaltung mit uraltem Feigenbaum, Drachenbaum, Bananenpalme und vielen anderen Pflanzen, der große Pool, der (entfernte) Blick aufs Meer samt Sonnenuntergang und nicht zu vergessen, die gute und umfassende Beratung im Vorfeld durch Klaus.

Breezy but beautiful

A really excellent property in an ideal position on the island. A couple of things in the description could be clarified ie the sauna is only available for guests in the main house, there was not a DVD player and we has taken some DVD's to watch and the TV was mainly programmed for German stations. We found the "secluded" terrace far from secluded as the strong, cold winter winds swirled round it limiting our time outside. It would help to identify which photos belong to which apartment too. The weather was disappointing but the apartment and the island are well worth visiting. We were very glad of the heating!

... eine unvergessliche Insel - beeindruckend

Wir verbrachten eine wunderschöne Woche in einem herrlichen Domizil, Andrea hatte uns sehr nett empfangen und alles gezeigt. Die Fewo und die Anlage war schöner als beschrieben, wir fühlten uns sofort sehr wohl. Die Zimmer waren toll eingerichtet und man konnte sofort die Liebe zum Detail erkennen. Zur Begrüßung stand frisches Obst und eine gute Flasche Wein auf dem Tisch bereit.

Die Ferienanlage ist supertoll gestaltet mit dem Pool, den verschiedenen Pflanzen, dem Feigenbaum direkt an der Terasse. Hier begann der Urlaub ab der 1. Sekunde. Die zentrale Lage des Domizils erlaubte uns die Insel, mit ihren sehr unterschiedlichen Naturräumen, entspannt zu erkunden, sei es zum Strand (Tazacorte), in den Norden mit dem Rocque de los muchachos, oder den Osten u. a. mit S/C de la Palma oder den Süden mit den Salinen und Vulkanen, einfach toll, und direkt vor der Haustür... die Caldera de Taburiente, sehenswert.

Wir genossen eine sehr entspannte Zeit hier und werden bestimmt wieder kommen.

Großen Dank auch an die sehr netten Vermieter, Claudia und Klaus, auch für die vielen Tipps vorab, so konnte man sich schon mal einstimmen.

Wohlfühlurlaub im Mango

Die gesamte Anlage und das Mango sind genauso schön wie auf den Fotos.

Die Ausstattung im Haus und auf der Finca Sambal lässt kaum Wünsche offen.

Eine vergleichbare Ferienunterkunft, so liebevoll und individuell eingerichtet, hatten wir bisher noch nicht. Alles ist in gutem Zustand, sauber und gepflegt.

Wir können uns den anderen Berichten bezüglich des Pools und dem schönen Blick von der Terrasse nur anschließen.

Von Andrea wird man nach der Anreise begrüßt und auch gut betreut, falls es mal ein Problem gibt. Vorab hatten wir schon von Klaus, dem Vermieter, per Mail viele Tipps und Informationen bekommen.

Die Anlage liegt sehr ruhig am Rande von El Paso und ist mit dem Auto gut zu erreichen. Ein abendlicher Spaziergang zu einem der Restaurants im Ort ist empfehlenswert. Wir haben unter Anderem sehr gut im "La Perla Negra" gegessen.

Wir haben uns rundum wohl gefühlt, die Woche war nur leider viel zu kurz! Darum wird unser nächster La Palma-Urlaub uns sicher wieder ins Mango führen.

Schöner Urlaub

Wir haben die Fewo Papaya für 3 Wochen gebucht. Es war ein sehr schöner Urlaub. Wir wurden nett begrüßt und mit Wein und Obst von der Insel versorgt. Vielen Dank. Die Wohnung war sauber und gemütlich. Dank der Marmorheizung hatten wir es auch am Abend warm. Der Pool war sehr gepflegt und selbst im Februar angenehm zum Schwimmen. Mit dem Vermieter hatten wir einen netten E-Mail Kontakt und alle unsere Fragen wurden sofort beantwortet.

Gerne denken wir an die schöne Zeit in der Finca Sambal zurück.

Wohlfühlurlaub

Wir hatten uns schon bei der Urlaubsvorbereitung in diese Unterkunft verliebt und deshalb hinsichtlich unseres An-/Abreisetermins ein paar Kompromisse gemacht.

Und: wurden belohnt! Wir haben uns im Papaya rundum wohl gefühlt, für 2 Personen war alles sehr geräumig, liebevoll individuell ausgestattet und auch absolut sauber und "unverwohnt". Eine schöne Unterkunft, ein nettes Örtchen, eine unglaublich vielseitige Insel, also jede Menge Gründe für eine baldige Wiederkehr.

The kitchen is fully equipped with a 4 plate ceramic cooker, oven, squeezer, toaster, coffee and espresso machine, fridge/freezer.
