Lovely centrally-located home in La Paz

  • 5 of 5

This spacious hacienda-style home provided a great base for our week in La Paz with two grown children and one boyfriend. The house is huge with 18-foot ceilings. The darker inside stays cool, while temperatures varied outside. We spent a lot of time next to the pool sitting in the sun. It is just 3 blocks from the Malecon, and though we had a car, we didn't need it for activities in town. The wifi worked great. Norma, the housekeeper, came a few times and was very helpful and cheerful. Suggestions would be that they invest in a couple of lounge chairs for the patio and provide some beach towels for guests to use.

PERFECT IN LA PAZ

  • 5 of 5

THE LOCATION: Within easy walking distance to (1) the embarcadero; (2) authentic Mexican market for fresh-caught fish, meat and vegetables; (3) small, modern supermarket for tequila and basics; (4) outstanding (by New York standards) restaurants (we can vouch for three in the neighborhood); (5) tasty street food, specifically a food truck that parks outside the nearby post office; (6) a coffee shop that serves good lattes for those who can't live without Starbucks.

THE HOUSE: a dramatic, historical building, very clean and commodious, with a super-equipped kitchen and outdoor barbeque (charcoal); private parking for two mid-sized cars, or at least one mid-sized and one compact but there's plenty of safe street parking anyway.

THE ON-SITE HOST: The sister of the owner, a friendly woman who quickly resolved a minor plumbing issue, and who speaks English if your Spanish is non-existent.

Lovely, Cared for, and Hospitable House!

  • 5 of 5

A group of 6 us stayed at this house and loved it! We were a little late in arriving from the Cabo airport, but Norma was still there to greet us with a smile. The location is great - just a few blocks from the Malecon and near some really great restaurants and bars. We loved McFishers and some of the bars off of the Malecon. It's true that the house is pretty dark inside. But we came for Memorial Day weekend and it was pretty hot and sunny out, so the house was a nice respite. House also includes a nice little pool and a garage for us to keep our rental car. We always felt safe. We would definitely return!

FABULOUS Place!

  • 5 of 5

My brother's family and my family stayed together in this wonderful home. In my brothers words: "The pictures do not do this place justice." Perfect for large families - we could hardly get our kids out of the pool (special note, as with most pools in Mexico, they are not heated). A great location in the heart of the city. Everything we needed was in walking distance. Great off street parking. We hired a local woman the owner knows to cook authentic Mexican meals for us on a few nights and that really added to the experience and relaxation of the place. Definitely a 5 out of 5 stars.

Lovely house in a great location!

  • 4 of 5

What a lovely home in downtown La Paz! It was in a really great location walking distance to great food and of course walking distance from La Fuente, our favorite palateria in the world! The house was well appointed with cooking utensils and pots... this is where I feel a lot of houses I've stayed at have skimped... but certainly not here. The house does feel very private and safe. I found the house a little dark in the day, but overall it was well worth staying there. Just a few blocks from the beach in the better part of Downtown La Paz.

Heart of the City

  • 5 of 5

House and location were perfect and totally met our expectations. Our family felt perfectly at home and really enjoyed the ambience. House has been beautifully maintained and seemed to take us to another era. We had both privacy and easy accessibility to the Malecon and the beautiful city of La Paz. Everything we wanted to do was within walking distance. Also, all preparations and communications with the owner prior to our arrival and during our stay were friendly and very helpful. We highly recommend this property for a vacaction get-away.
