CHARM, AMBIANCE, EXCEPTIONAL VIEWS 'Maisonette de Provence'
Enjoy beautiful Carmel and all the Monterey area without the high price ticket!
'Maisonette de Provence“ is a separate house with 2 bedrooms -each with a king size bed, on our property overlooking Monterey Bay. Our location will provide you with quick access to all of our charming towns - Carmel, Pebble Beach, Pacific Grove, and Monterey as well as the beach areas, all less than a 15 minute drive away.
The views are second to none; enjoy one of the many excellent local wines while taking in the sweeping view of the Monterey bay and city lights from the patio. Our sun-filled landscaped patio and garden area will enhance your visit to the California coast. We are originally from France and our 'Maisonette de Provence' and gardens reflect our origins, the house is decorated in typical Provencial style, we are away from the hustle and bustle, in the quiet and calm of the wooded hills above the coast, yet so close as to be near everything that you will want to visit here. Our hillside is well above the areas which get the costal fog in the summer, and enjoys a very pleasant climate year around, not hot in the summer, not cold in the winter; this is a year-round holiday area. On some days you will see a sea of white below you floating in and out of the valleys, a spectacular sight!
The bright, airy, comfortable living room is complete with a genuine leather sofa and love seat, entertainment center featuring a large 46” flat screen HDTV with Satellite TV, DVD, and VCR. We provide free wireless wi-fi throughout the house.
The French double doors open directly onto a spacious terrace, the groomed lawn and flower garden.
Our Maisonette provides you with the comforts of a stylish hotel and home rolled into one!
The upstairs master bedroom features a Cherry wood California King Size bed, a 32' LCD TV with breathtaking view of the Monterey Bay and sparkling city light at night. An antique French armoire completes the ensemble.
The charming second bedroom has a King Size bed and a 26' LCD TV in a Provincial atmosphere. The French double doors open to a rose garden.
Both bedrooms have an alarm clock with i-pod docking.
Connecting the two bedrooms is a small open terrace with views of the Santa Cruz Mountains.
The bathroom features an oversized tub with a sink and a toilet.
Downstairs you will find the 2 cars garage, kitchen and laundry room.
For the gourmet cook there is a fully equipped kitchen with a gas oven, gas cook top, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, granite counter top and a flat screen television.
The grilling enthusiast will enjoy the gas barbecue.
There is a laundry room with washer, dryer, iron and ironing board. If you prefer the more natural way of drying your clothes you can use the outside clothes line.
Also for your convenience we provide you with extra pillows, blankets, linen, hair dryer, picnic basket, ice chest.
We live on the property and we will greet you personally upon arrival.
The Monterey sports Center is less than a 15 minute drive and passes are available if you wish to stay in shape during an extended visit.
Also, this area is excellent for cycling and hiking; many of our local roads have bicycle and hiking paths.
Every season has something to offer here on the Monterey Peninsula; weather is enjoyable all year long and is most spectacular in the spring and fall months. Enjoy the costal lifestyle as we do...for 3 days, or three months!
The property is beautiful and the guest house quiet and private. It was close to the conference site and easy to locate. The only down side to this place is the tub is a French tub and getting in and out is not without risk. I believe this should be noted in the listing as it can make the difference for someone who has limited mobility.
Very comfortable, clean, every convenience. We were very happy with the security and the owner provided us with remotes for a gate and the garage. The house is located in a very quiet upscale neighborhood in the hills but only 10-15 minutes from downtown Monterey.
Just two things to mention that were a problem for us three ladies. The kitchen is downstairs from the living area. There is no way to the living area except stairs, either from inside or outside.
The bathroom has no shower, only a spa tub with a hand-held sprayer. There is no mirror over the basin, only a small mirror inset in a cabinet but set too high for any of us to use.
The king beds were very comfortable. However, one bedroom is set so that anyone needing to use the bathroom at night must pass through a veranda area open to the outside and enter the other bedroom before entering the bathroom.
My deposit was returned 2 days after we left the property. The owner lives on the property and was immediately available if needed.
What a great retreat from everyday bustle! In a quiet neighborhood where houses aren't packed together, you have great views and just the occasional sound of an airplane heading into the airport. The sunset views are fantastic and brings a wonderful light into all the west facing windows. We were traveling with our twin 4 year old girls and having the kitchen downstairs to retreat to every morning to drink my tea was lovely. The beds were quite comfy and the bedrooms nice sized. The only negative for me was the fact that the guest bedroom is accessible mainly via a semi enclosed balcony shared with the master bedroom (or directly from outside, but I don't know if you could open the french doors from the outside - never tried it). I wouldn't suggest this location for 2 couples traveling together, as the only bathroom is off the master, so again any traffic for it would have to be through the master bedroom. The entertainment center had a strong sound system, and the washer and dryer very handy (again, see twin 4 year olds). Having one's own garage is a nice perk as well. Philippe was very accessible via text when needed, but otherwise hands off - leaving us to feel like we were using our own home.
Our family was very happy here. This place is somewhat isolated, but that's what we like. The pricing was very competitive and well worth it. The only knock is that we had to go buy toilet paper. I would have expected this basic necessity. Also there is a dishwasher but no soap for it. We just hand washed. There is a nice clothes washing set, but once again, we had to go buy soap. Not a huge deal but I wish I knew that in advance so I didn't need to make a special trip. I would rent this place again for sure.
We really enjoyed our stay, it was the perfect accommodation for our family. We really enjoyed the property. It's a beautiful place and well kept. We didn't mind the short drive into town and took a day trip to Big Sur one of the days. The owner was really nice and quick to respond. We would absolutely recommend this place and would love to stay there again. My only thing that I can say to improve would be the shower, however by the end of the trip I didn't mind it. It's a bath with a handle that you have to hold yourself. Not a huge deal but just a heads up!
Maisonnette de Provence is truly lovely. The house is comfortable and had beautiful views. This is a quiet, out of the way place to stay which suited our family just fine. We are a French/American family and enjoyed the French connection for sure. As for the tub/shower, I really enjoyed it, but it would indeed be dangerous for an older person. It's hard to get in and out of!
There were a few things missing for our stay: trash bags, toilet paper, and dish washing liquid. We had a problem with the Direct TV, but Phillippe was prompt and helped us sort it out that very day. The separate bedroom could be a problem for a family with small children but for our 12 year old, it was perfect.
And, and not to leave out, the hummingbirds were so gorgeous!
