Set on a hillside above Chocolate Hole, Meridian is a charming Caribbean cottage that provides everything that you need for a serene get-away. The house faces south and west and looks across Chocolate Hole to St. Thomas as well as down to the beach at Hart Bay. The home is painted with charming tropical colors with tile floors, native stonework and local art completing the island theme.
The fully equipped kitchen is separated from the living room by a tiled breakfast bar. New cabinetry contains all of your needs for cooking and entertaining. The kitchen has direct access to the veranda for use of the gas grill.
The wrap-around veranda offers a dining area as well as sitting areas with couches for reading, relaxing or just enjoying the view. Dinner on the veranda with St. Thomas twinkling in the distance is magical. Mahogany louvered French doors lead into the home on all sides, providing a breezy, outdoor feeling to the home. A few steps down from the veranda bring you to the large, private pool deck. Surrounded by trees and plants, the deck offers excellent privacy and patio furniture for enjoyment.
Meridian has two large, high-ceiling bedrooms, each with its own bath. The master bedroom has a four poster queen bed. The guest bedroom has twin beds that can be converted into a king sized bed. Each bedroom opens separately to the veranda.
While our home is not air conditioned, there are ceiling fans throughout the living area of the house.
If you prefer the beach and snorkeling, Hart Bay and Chocolate Hole beaches are within easy walking distance, and the fabulous beaches of the North Shore are only a short ride by car. Meridian is less than a mile and a half from Cruz Bay on a paved road and a half mile from the Westin Hotel. Meridian is wonderful home for a honeymoon, two couples, or a small family.

We have traveled to the Caribbean for fourty years and settled on St. John as the island with convenience to our mainland home and the island that maintains much of the flavor of the old Caribbean.
Our property is located on a hillside with great views of the ocean. St. Thomas at sunset can be breath-taking as darkness falls and its lights come on. The swimming pool area is very private and has both shade and sun as the day progresses. Very relaxing!
We have been marooned in Boston this winter, ... So, when we arrived in the sunshine for our second stay in this lovely home, we immediately felt better and it only improved every day. We lived on the porch, watching the iguanas climb in the trees (and once almost joining us in the pool!). deer and, of course, our "pals", the pearly-eyed thrashers. Spent all-day every day at the beach. Bliss! Coming back next year.
Meridian was more than we hoped for! The island vibe is amazing with the screens and no windows and the doors opened, the breeze coming in is perfect. No need for AC. The master bedroom was extremely comfortable & the kitchen was very well equipped. No need to turn on any of the TVs as the views were worth way more. Very close to town and the property manager was very accommodating and helpful, she picked us up from the ferry, took us to our rental car and then we followed us to the house. We will definitely stay here again duing our next visit!
Meridian is a wonderful place to stay. Everything went so smoothly on our arrival and we loved this house. Very clean and very well appointed. Lovely sunsets, BEAUTIFUL Yard! Would love to stay here again.
Was it having coffe on the veranda while watching the bay? Or was it dinner al fresco. Maybe swimming late at night in the private pool. This is our 24th rental through VRBO and definitely one of the best. Everything was top-notch, and the management company was extremely helpful. I would highly recommend this wonderful piece of heaven to anyone.
This is the second time in 2 years we stayed at the Meridian. We have been coming to STJ for over a decade and stayed in large villas, resorts, small villas, etc... But last year we found the Meridian and fell in love with this
home! This year we stayed for 9 days and had a wonderful time. This house has a special Carribean feel to it and it is warm and inviting. We love this home because it puts you directly into the St John life, from the views to St Thomas, the birds and iguanas that visit, the wrap around porch and great pool .
We are a family of five and find that this house of perfect for a family. The house is very clean and everything you would need as a family to be comfortable. The house does not have AC, but we have not found this to be a problem. The doors open wide to the wrap around deck, and there is a great breeze that flows through the house. There are ceiling fans and floor fans. We were there in July and at night we had covers on.
It appears that there has been some upgrades or sprucing up of the house since last year. There appears to be new appliances (or they are very clean), a new toaster oven, stove, micro. The interior was painted, new cushions on the furniture and the deck was painted. The pool is perfect for our family and we used it everyday. The pool man came twice during our stay and it was clean and clear!
We loved sitting on the porch just LIMIN, enjoying the chirping birds, iguanas, and watching the kids in the pool. We enjoyed cooking on the grill and eating on the porch... WE love STJ, a car is needed to get to the wonderful beaches and Cruz bay, There are groceries at St John Market or Starfish... WE also visited the Westin for one day, because it is five minutes away from the house.
We have been going to St. John for over ten years. This was our first house rental. The reviews were old but sounded very nice. So we decided to book for a three week stay. What a mistake!! The views from the porch were beautiful and relaxing in the morning but that is just about where it ended. The house was dirty. It took us two days to get the stench of fish out of the refrigerator and freezer. We could not even put anything in it because it would smell like fish. The screens and louvers were filthy. The kitchen door screen was completely ripped on the bottom and other screens had holes or were ill fitting. Mosquito's were quite bothersome and there was a huge amount of them on the back porch. The no AC was a problem most nights. Every light fixture was dusty or dirty. The bedroom fan light is hanging by the wires so it was quite a trick to turn off and on. The toaster oven was not the one shown in the picture and it was disgusting. The pool was cloudy for three weeks. You could not see the bottom or the stairs going in. We asked them to come and spray since we saw spiders and cockroaches. They did come and do it right away but we still had them the rest of the trip.
We previewed properties for next years trip. Every pool we saw was crystal clear and no one had problems with biting mosquito's. I would not recommend this property or the management company that they use. It was noting like we thought it would be. A true disappointment and a huge waste of a lot of money.
We stayed here for a week with our two college-aged sons and had a fabulous time. The Meridian is a very casual, private, island-style home stocked with everything you could possibly need, including snorkel gear and an ice chest! The best part to us was the large wrap-around veranda with incredible views and wonderful sounds of nature. A ceiling fan over the seating area on the veranda would have been nice but certainly not a deal breaker! We loved the fact that the house is entirely open, no windows, only screens with wooden blinds. It was so refreshing to keep the double doors to the veranda wide open in the mornings. We were actually glad we didn't have AC! There was usually a nice breeze and the fans in the house kept it very comfortable We had no issues with bugs or mosquitoes. The pool was a bonus, nice to lounge around, but the water was a bit too cold for our liking! We enjoyed gazing at the amazing star-filled sky at night from the pool lounge chairs and hammock. The manager responded quickly and graciously to a couple of repair needs. After each adventurous day of exploring, snorkeling, sailing, deep sea fishing,, etc, we LOVED returning to The Meridian in the evening to relax on the porch or by the pool. We even grilled out some tuna we caught on a fishing charter! If we ever get back to St John, we would definitely choose to stay here again and would recommend it to anyone who loves a comfortable, casual atmosphere.
Many opportunities for hiking and nature programs at the Virgin Islands National Park.
