Relaxing & fabulous stay in a lovely Istrian home!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at this house for five nights in early June 2013. We easily agree that staying at this house was the most positive Homeaway experience we have ever had. The owner of the house, Alen, is the nicest and most generous host we have ever met. He went out of his way to make sure that we were comfortable and felt at home. His partners, Vedran and Maja, were also great. We ended up having breakfast with the three of them on our last morning there and we were having so much fun chatting with them, we ended up leaving an hour later than we planned Now, onto the house. The house is beautiful; the pictures do not do it justice. It is an Istrian-style home that has clearly been lovingly updated and upgraded. My favorite touches were the black and white pictures of Alen's grandparents sitting outside the house decades ago. The bed we slept in was comfortable and the bathroom was very nice. We were unable to use the pool due to the weather, but if it had been warmer, we would have definitely spent a lot of time relaxing in it. Instead, we spent a good amount of time sitting at the table on the top porch, which had a great view of the mountains. At night, we'd watch the clouds roll in and it was beautiful. The only "downside" was the internet access is only available on a USB stick, rather than wi-fi, which means that you can't use it with a smartphone. However, this was no big deal, as it forced us into "unplugging," which was needed. Plus, we were able to get wi-fi access at various cafes and places we went in Istria so we weren't completely "unplugged." We would absolutely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone in the area

Wonderful, traditional Istrian home

  • 4 of 5

My family and I had a wonderful stay 7 day stay at House Urihi. If you are looking for a traditional Istrian stonehouse with home comforts and stretching views of the mountains then this is ideal for you. The pool is a welcome relief from the heat of the daily sun and the AC ensures a comfortable sleep at night. We also enjoyed the terrace for evening drinks and barbeques.

Buzet is well located to explore Northern Istria an neighbouring Slovenia also. We visited Porec, Opitija, Motovun, Buzet old town ( where I eat the best steak at Vala Vrata Hotel), Ljubljana ( the Slovenian capital city was a wonderful surprise) and had a full day trip to Postojnska Jama to visit the grotto and cliffside castle.

The owners Alen and Erika were very hospitable and kind and keen to ensure we enjoyed our stay in Istria. We look forward to returning to Buzet and to staying in House Urihi perhaps during the truffles season which I belive is in September and October. Thank you for alovely stay.

Sehr angenehmer Aufenthalt

  • 5 of 5

  • 5 of 5

  • 4 of 5

Excellent

  • 4 of 5

The view from the house, over the valley is magnificent. The house is very comfortable (wifi available now) and cosy. Pool, house and everything in it are clean and in good shape. Balcony, garden with brick barbecue, everything you want. Alen is the very friendly and sympathetic owner who makes sure your holiday is perfect. After spending time on the crowded coast of Istria it is always a pleasure to return to the calm of Urihi. There are several nice restaurants in the area and Buzet is a 15 min. drive.
