The Eco House in Maulnaskeaha, Ahakista, was designed by Paul Leech and was awarded the Construction Excellence Award 1995th
The southern exposure provides a good view of the sea and the majestic landscape.
The 'Eco House' was the destination for the famous singer Christy Moore and his wife Valerie for 14 years.
Bathe in a south-facing oval pool, lie down on the lawn surrounded by a garden of colorful flowers and rock gardens, sip tea in 180 degree 'sun room' with the many windows see photo or read a book in the reading chair overlooking the sea. Or put in the living room your feet up and look at the open fire. For self catering there is the kitchen with light wood with a table for up to 6 people, and outside in the southeast the cast-iron bistro table and chairs directly on the sliding door from the kitchen to the garden.
The Eco House offers 3 bedrooms, each with its own bathroom en suite. (Each with its own toilet, and 2 bathrooms have showers, a bathtub)
Two bedrooms each have a queen size bed for 2 persons, one bedroom has 2 single beds.
There is a living room with fireplace, a 2er couch and 2 chairs, a winter garden with a table and chairs, and a dining room with 6 seats at the table and adjoining kitchen.

Awesome views and quiet solitude
We stayed for 4 nights mid September great relaxing time visit Arundels by the sea for dinner then the tin pub for evening drinks
Really lovely remote hideaway
We really enjoyed our stay in eco house. The house was interesting and cosy. The pool looked fantastic but was freezing so we didn't get as much use of it as we had hoped! The location is beautiful with stunning views. We loved exploring the surrounding areas of durrus, schull and bantry and returning to our beautiful bolthole.
What a beautiful home away from home.
It was a perfect place to base our Holiday from. The location was jaw dropping and the Swimming Pool although not the warmest was used everyday by our 2 teenage boys and myself. The house itself was quirky and the facilities were all there. The whole experience was flawless and I would highly recommend staying here.
Wow, just wow. The Eco-House surpassed our expectations. The house was beautiful, clean, gorgeous, and satisfied the needs of our family of four very nicely. It is important to know that it is very out of the way, and you have to drive pretty far for excursions or even a grocery store! But the house had all the touches of home and we loved it. The notebook with daily excursion recommendations was priceless, we felt like real locals! The pub at the bottom of the hill had some of the best food we had the entire trip. The views were picture postcard perfect. We highly recommend Eco-House for families or a romantic getaway.
Sehr schönes Haus!
Sehr schönes Haus im Süden von Irland.

Gute Lage, Pub etwas weiter entfernt. Sehr schön eingerichtet, es ist alles vorhanden.
Sheepshead is a 33km long peninsula - no more than 6km wide - in the southwest of Ireland. Ahakista is surrounded by the promontory known for its rugged beauty. The Eco House is ideally located for exploring the region West - Cork. Hiking with 85km walking trails on the Sheepshead alone, signposted cycling routes in stunning countryside, a day at the beach Barleycove, horse riding, sailing, diving, fantastic fish and specialty restaurants in Bantry (The fish kitchen) and Durrus (Blairscove), a pub and a restaurant (the legendary Tin Pub and Arundels by the pier, free wifi) are located directly in Ahakista and only 10min walk, the Heron Cafe & Gallery with free WiFi just 10 min walk. Natural Sights such as the botanical garden on Garinish Island- short boat trip and seal banks -, Glengarriff at great Shops, the Sheepshead Lighthouse, Mizen Head with the lighthouse Fastnet Rock in the sea, the pilgrimage Gougane Barra and the cities of Bantry and Skibbereen with their many shops, restaurants, pubs and cinemas to stay.
Just a short drive from Eco House removed the village Kilcrohane, with its quay and coves and 2 cozy pubs.
