Black Pearl Stay
We just got back a couple of days ago from staying at Richard’s place, the Black Pearl. Our first time ever in Bora Bora and we picked the perfect place to stay! Great location, easy access to everything on the island. Nir, the contact person in Bora Bora was amazing. He picked us up from the shuttle, got us our car, gave us all details, etc. he was so helpful and nice!!
The property itself was exactly what we expected. It had everything we needed, was very clean, spacious and just what we wanted for our getaway!
Will be coming back and will definitely stay here again!
Beautiful property in a nice location. Nir was very accommodating!
This property was used as a honeymoon location and didn’t disappoint. The weather was alittle disappointing but couldn’t even take away from the absolute beautiful private location. Little things went wrong but Nir and Richard were immediately on top of everything. Would book this place again in a heartbeat.
A TRUE GEM
I feel so grateful that we discovered the Black Pearl, as it is a beautiful one of a kind gem that is becoming more rare in this world that we live in. From my first initial contact with Richard when we booked, to the very last minute of our stay, service could not have been better.
Nir, the local property manager, is an invaluable resource, readily available, connected into the local scene and literally takes care of any business or questions that arise. I highly recommend renting a car from him, as part of the beauty of the Black Pearl is it’s location, which is a bit outside of Viatape, where you can do all of your food shopping, as well as purchase Polynesian goods. In addition, we drove around the island quite a bit, enjoying the beauty of Bora Bora from many of its perspectives.
The Black Pearl is one of a kind, I didn’t see any other bungalows begin compare to it. The quality of the furnishings, kitchen and art work bring an island sense of luxury to this exceptional home. The thoughtful attention to artistic details is evident, something not to be found at a typical resort. And don’t get me started on the gorgeous tiled bathroom!
Another bonus is that this place is quite spacious, with plenty of room for two people to move around in. We had two massage therapists over to do couples massages for us, and they were able to set up both tables easily in the living room.
The sun deck was where we spent most of our time when not out and about doing touristy type things. It has an excellent screen at one end of the deck that blocks the wind on gusty days (as will happen on islands), so we were able to enjoy the view regardless of weather. One of our favorite times of day was when the outrigger rowing teams passed by on their early evening practices.
I also booked other parts of our French Polynesia vacation through Ron at Rawhide Travel and Tours per Richard’s suggestion in his property information and details. This really helped our entire trip go as seamlessly as possible. These guys are a goldmine of information.
If you’re looking to escape from the theme park feel that can come with resorts, I wholeheartedly recommend this place, it’s a one of a kind experience not to be missed!
Thank you for the beautiful review Karen. I am so happy you appreciated all of our hard work. My wife and I love our home and can't wait to get back ourselves. I agree, it is the perfect bungalow, and I hope to welcome you back some time soon. With warm regards, Richard and Seiko
beautiful bungalow! would stay there again
Fantabulous stay at the Black Pearl
My wife and I spent 8 nights at the Black Pearl. Everything about it is wonderful. We sat out on the back porch and watched the sun rise and sun sets and everything in between. Used the on site kayaks and snorkeling gear. Everything at the Bungalow worked as it should. Everything we needed was there. Mr. Nir also gives you a cell phone to use if you need. Mr. Nir is available if you need info. If you choose to cook for yourself you can do that with the provided kitchen and BBQ. There are 2 grocery stores just down the road towards Tapatee. We did that 1 night and for breakfast, We chose to eat several meals at the food trucks /trailers. (we recommend you try them as a substitute to the tourist restaurants) There are also places called Snacks to eat at, They are established spots They are good also. We got a car from Mr. Nir and were very glad we did. it makes it easy to enjoy the whole of the Island. Mr. Nir or his wife will pick you up at the Boat dock (you have to take the Big boat from the airport to the Main Island, it is free and not one of the resort boats) with the car and within minutes you are on your own to enjoy your stay. We enjoyed just driving and seeing what the locals were doing. There are 5 different areas of the Island and each one had locals practicing local dance in the evening. (free Polynesian dance show). We are very glad we chose to stay at The Black Pearl as apposed to the Resorts(hut cities). Most of them are not attached to the Main Island and require a boat ride to get here.
James Michener called Bora Bora 'The most beautiful island in the world. And it is, it really is.
Bora Bora is one of the Society Islands in the South Pacific, Tahiti being the largest. It is only a seven and a half hour flight from Los Angeles and only three hours earlier PST. The same time zone as Hawaii. Only two hours when daylight savings time ends. To get there, you take a direct flight to Tahiti and then a 45 minute island hopper to Bora Bora. You are now officially in paradise. Use your state of the art kitchen to prepare a meal, or dine out at the many fine restaurants on the island. The activities are endless if you wish to keep busy, or just lie down on the veranda, listen to the water and finish that 1000 page book you can't seem to finish. Life takes on new meaning when you are surrounded by the serenity and the beauty of Bora Bora. Come and see for yourself!
