This 3000+ square foot 5 bedroom 3 bath residence offers gracious spaces, exceptional quality, exciting amenities and comforts for everyone. As you can see from the photos, this home is not your typical vacation rental. It has been tastefully and professionally decorated with high end new furniture and artwork. Conveniently located in Mission Hills, one of the most upscale and affluent neighborhoods in San Diego, this home is truly the BEST in California City Living.

Where to start... How about the drive up and curb appeal. Dramatic is an appropriate beginning. This Spanish Contemporary has lush landscaping complete with flora of many genres. A stunning cascading water fall and pond greets the visitor. Notice the beautiful front door which is a statement all in itself. And you’ll have no trouble finding parking with space for 4 cars in the driveway plus ample space on the street.

Step inside and you have a multi-level home which is completely workable from just one level. Home boasts grand living and family spaces with views from almost every window. The living room boasts large windows which drown the space in light and ambiance. In addition to the amazing views of the bay and downtown, the centerpiece of this room is the floor to ceiling natural stone gas fireplace.

The family room opens up onto the outdoor living area which may be the centerpiece of this home and makes this a vacation rental like no other. When you step outside you’ll be treated to a magnificent rebuilt pool and 10 person spa with waterfalls. The pool is complete with solar heating (fully functional during summer only) and state of the art PENTAIR pool pumps and equipment.

You and the kids will enjoy lounging on pool floats or relaxing in the comfortable chaise lounges soaking up the famous Southern California sun. In addition to your own private waterpark there is a gourmet stainless steel fully equipped BBQ and outdoor gas fireplace for your family and friends to gather around at night. You’ll find plenty of outdoor seating with room for 6 at the BBQ bar and seating for 4 more at the table located above on the wrap-around balcony accessible from the pool via the spiral staircase. Family Vacation

What a fantastic house!!! We had 8 adults and 4 kids. The location is ideal for almost anything you would want to do. We toured the Uss Midway and did a one hour harbor tour in an afternoon. We also went to the Zoo, Seaworld and Legoland all a short distance from the house. I would highly recommend to the Fish Market. The food was wonderful. We enjoyed the firepit every night we were there and the kids loved the pool. I would recomend Hawk Street to anyone wanting a spacious and beautiful place to vacation. Thanks so much for a wonderful experience!!

Lots of space for large family gathering - Central Location

The Good - This house had a great amount for space. We had enough room (and everyone had a bed) for our 10 family members. We found the furnishings comfortable and very much enjoyed having space to spread out! The house was located close the the airport, downtown, Balboa Park and the Zoo - all places we visited during our stay. We also found malls close for shopping and a good grocery store over a short drive. The outdoor space was very nice. The grill was a little dated and hard to start, but it worked. The outdoor furniture was nice and comfortable. The pool was too cold to really use our entire stay; however, the spa was easily heated to a suitable temperature. Even after paying for heat with the pool, it just wasn't warm enough (even for our children) to swim. There were plenty of towels in the house which we appreciated, however, they could use an update. The master bedroom was spacious, however, there were some outlets (by the bed and in the bathroom) that were not functioning. They are also pretty short on hangers in the closets for a house this size. The most disturbing part of the house was the art work. It was inappropriate for a rental property in that nudity including nude women with bloody hands seemed too gross for family living. The kitchen was nice for cooking, however, it didn't feel overly clean which is important to our family. The cabinets were a bit dirty and sticky - I'm sure this is due to the short turnover time from guest to guest, but it could stand a Deep clean! We utilized the downstairs which appeared to be recently remodeled. It smelled a bit of paint and there was no trash can in bedroom or bathroom, but otherwise, quite comfortable. The house is for sale and you are not allowed to even be outside after 10pm due to neighbors. This was disappointing. I believe the neighbors are not happy that it is a rental and make it difficult to fully enjoy the house. Overall, nice place for a large family but felt a little less than what I expected for the price. The art needs to be replaced, some of the house is needing updated (rusty towel holder in one of the bathrooms) and could use a nice deep clean.

Owner's Response: We appreciate any constructive criticism. As with any property it is important to have rules on your vacation rental to respect the privacy and tranquility of your neighbors. We are hopeful that if this guest owned a vacation rental with a pool that they would have rules that would respect their neighbors. This guest did not ask for pool heat until after they already arrived. It was explained it can take awhile for the pool to heat up. We also received a noise complaint from our neighbors because they were out at the pool area after 10 PM after specifically being reminded of the pool hours. The former is probably the reason for the extreme sensitivity in the review. The artwork review is a bit comical. I think it is 2018 and not 1955? Let's at least hope so! Attending a museum that has not been censored would be some good advice for this guest. Warm Regards!

Mark was extremely friendly and very understanding throughout the trip. Our group had a fantastic time and appreciated everything the host did for us. The house was absolutely stunning and exactly how it looked in the pictures. Our location was also ideal as it was short drives to the airport, beaches, city and parks. The outdoor area is also very relaxing and spacious for everyone to comfortably hangout inside or out. I hope Mark will have our group again in the future and definitely recommend this place to any large groups and families looking to spend a nice weekend in San Diego!

Great home for family vacation - pool made it even more fun!

Layout of space and bedrooms worked very well for our family. Was convenient to all the places we wanted to visit during our stay. While the 10 pm-8 am outdoor 'curfew' was not mentioned until after we were booked, with full day's activities and a couple hours each day in the pool, everyone was pretty tired by 10 pm anyway.

Having full kitchen to make meals was really helpful - cut down on having to eat out so much - as well as full laundry facilities. Would definitely consider coming back, and recommending to friends/others.

The place was great the swimming pool and hot tub or a great feature

Everyone loved the experience at the house on Hawk Street. The house is clean when we got here all the amenities worked fine without any hiccups and we would definitely come back again

Beautiful Home

This was great for a large group. Lots of space! the out door area was stunning, the pool and spa are great. Location was awesome, really close to everything. 10 mins from the airport and 5 minutes from a main grocery store. We didn't even need to leave the house, this house has it all. Everything was perfect, no complaints. The host was very helpful and was easy to communicate with. I highly recommend this house!

Mark, We were late returning (plane canceled) or I would have written sooner. The house worked out great for us! Everyone had a wonderful time together and the pool was excellent. The children loved it and the rafts were just terrific. The dryer was constantly going as our beach towels never got a chance to dry. I think there were plenty of dishes, glasses, etc. The grill was also great, need a new brush perhaps. The top bunk bed could use a siderail to prevent a child from rolling off. Nice touch to have some children's books there. You have done a very nice job decorating. The house was so convenient to every where we were going. Hope everything was left o'k and we are welcome to return. Beverly

There really is no reason to leave this home, but if you do you’ll find yourself located in the most convenient spot in San Diego! See just how close you would be by using the map link below. You are minutes from the airport terminal, the Balboa Park with all its museums, World Famous zoo, theater, Organ Pavilion and numerous other attractions. You are also minutes from Hillcrest, downtown, San Diego bay, the beaches, Little Italy, Petco Park, the Gaslamp District and many more places. And if you are looking to “go green” and save gas, many of these sites are within walking distance! If you are more adventurous, you’ll find the freeway 2 minutes away to take you anywhere your heart desires…

A damage/reservation deposit of $1500 is required. This must be received within fourteen (14) days of booking the reservation. The deposit automatically converts to a security/damage deposit upon arrival. The deposit is NOT applied toward rent; however, it is fully refundable within (21) days of departure, provided the following provisions are met:
a. No damage is done to unit or its contents (lounge chairs, pool toys & umbrellas), beyond normal wear and tear.
b. No charges are incurred due to contraband, pets or collection of rents or
services rendered during the stay.
c. All debris, rubbish and discards are placed in large outdoor trash cans located in driveway (see item 15 below), and soiled dishes are placed in the dishwasher and cleaned. One load of laundry (towels or linens) is started (see “CLEANING” in section 20 below).
d. All keys are returned to lockbox and unit is left locked.
e. All charges accrued during the stay are paid prior to departure.
f. No linens or towels are lost or damaged.
g. No Early check-in or late check-out (unless agreed to in writing in advance).
