Smith Mountain Lake House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

Welcome to Lake Retreat, it is more than just a vacation home. Lake Retreat is a peaceful, quiet escape from the hectic pace so many of us live.

This 4 bedroom, 2 full and 1 half baths home offers 2,000 sq ft of living space. Located on a waterfront lot with 1.25 acres full of blooming shrubbery and large oak trees, nature and wildlife are at your doorstep. A short walk from the back deck down a mild slope to the water reveals a natural brown sand beach and two private docks for your use nestled back in a cove. There is a sandbox near the natural sand beach for little children. You and your children can enjoy swimming in the cove and feel perfectly safe from boat traffic and waves. The old and the new docks provide ample docking space for your boats. The new dock has electricity. There is plenty of parking for cars and boat trailers on the lot.

Our family vacation

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful vacation. The grand kids loved the lake and it was perfect for young children. We had a fantastic week everyone had a great time. The only complaint we had was the sofa beds in the basement. They were not comfortable. But everything else was great. The other bedrooms were very nice. We would certainly stay here again.

Owner's Response: We plan to replace the sofa bed with another bed at the end of this rental season.

We had a great vacation with our children and our friends and their children. It was the perfect place to keep 4 kids age 7 and under entertained constantly. We never left except to grocery shop! Smith Mountain Lake is gorgeous, the neighbors were very nice and the home had plenty of space for 4 adults, 4 kids and a dog! A bathroom in the walkout basement was a great feature with children coming in and out from the water. The covered dock was wonderful, swimming was so much fun in the quiet cove. But the best part of all...ZERO bugs on the deck at night using no candles or bug spray. A wonderful place to vacation.

An extended vacation

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful vacation! We could not have had a better location since we fish and need a place to dock our boat out of the weather. The cove was quiet, the neighbors were friendly, and the golf course track for carts was to our dog’s liking. The walk across the yard to the dock is far better than 70 + stairs, especially for boomers with aching knees. I spent much time on the deck, especially in the morning with my coffee. There is something extremely relaxing about watching water and drinking coffee.

We have stayed in different homes, but this kitchen was the easiest one for cooking. First, there was not much that we needed that was not there to use and second, the work path was good. I liked the table in the kitchen, even though it was a little crowded, so that I did not have to take the food into the other room except when we had a larger crowd.

The beds were comfortable even though we are used to a king.

Mr. Theis is a wonderful host. He is very accommodating. If there is something you need, just ask him, and he will help out.

We did visit the winery, but not get to the drive-in theatre. Our son rented a ski boat at Mitchell’s marina over Memorial Day weekend, and we all had great fun tubing. We could not have asked for better service - check them out for boating and eating.

If you are looking for a quiet place for relaxing with family and friends, Smith Mountain Lake and Mr. Theis’ home is where you want to be. It made me sad to leave, but all good times come to an end. We will return!!

Hidden Gem!!!

  • 5 of 5

We had a WONDERFUL long weekend at this Hidden Gem! My family decided to experience life at the lake one weekend and scoured the internet looking for just the right place for us. Close enough to for a short drive from Lynchburg (it was only 30 miles!) Big enough to accommodate us with enough amenities and comfort to help everyone unwind and have fun...and WE FOUND IT! Warren was very professional and helpful and reserving it was a breeze.

All stress melted away once we made our way down the lovely rustic driveway nestled in the tall trees and pulled up to this lovely lake home. The home was clean with everything we needed to make a wonderful memory. Very spacious and had plenty of nooks to nestle in as well as larger areas to spread out. Comfortable seating, plenty of beds and bathrooms, 3 table areas to play board games and enjoy delicious meals.

The first night we grilled out with the big gas grill provided. The kitchen was so well stocked my kitchen at home is envious! We enjoyed breakfast on the enormous wrap around deck. The huge basement provided hours of fun as we played many a ping pong and air hockey tournament. We set up the badminton net outside and even enjoyed the leftover pool toys. The gently sloping yard made it easy to enjoy the calm cove & the double docks. Even my 6 yr old nephew could venture out between the docks as it created a nice little swimming area for him. Beyond the docks it goes deeper so my teenage nieces could jump off the docks and have a great time. With a big table and plenty of seating options down at the dock, we spent as much time as we could soaking up the last of September’s Sun.

We all felt just like we were at home there. My 60+ mother walks with a cane due to MS and found the home and property easy to get around in. She enjoyed doing puzzles and drinking coffee overlooking this picturesque setting.

More people need to know about this little gem tucked away from the hustle and bustle. My niece said she felt like she was in a movie staying there because it really brought you into the woods and the lake setting in such a magical way!

We enjoyed our time at the Bridgewater Marina nearby on Sunday evening. Restaurants, Boat rentals, Gas stations, Grocery Stores...all close enough for convince but when you are nestled away at this lake house, the busy rush of the rest of the world disappears! Thanks to Warren for everything. The setting and the price can't be beat! My friend already has booked it for her fam
