This 4 bedroom, 2 full and 1 half baths home offers 2,000 sq ft of living space. Located on a waterfront lot with 1.25 acres full of blooming shrubbery and large oak trees, nature and wildlife are at your doorstep. A short walk from the back deck down a mild slope to the water reveals a natural brown sand beach and two private docks for your use nestled back in a cove. There is a sandbox near the natural sand beach for little children. You and your children can enjoy swimming in the cove and feel perfectly safe from boat traffic and waves. The old and the new docks provide ample docking space for your boats. The new dock has electricity. There is plenty of parking for cars and boat trailers on the lot.

Just right

  • 5 of 5

The weather was poor, the fishing was lousy, but staying here is relaxing for us. I love coffee on the deck, leisurely walks with the dog, and a house that is comfortable. This is it! Mr. The is wants his renter to enjoy their stay. Thank you.

Owner's Response: The Alexanders and family have been wonderful renters for many years. This year they advised of plumbing leaks during their stay and saved us from damage. Very helpful and enjoy their company including Shotgun, their dog too. Owners

Our family vacation

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful vacation. The grand kids loved the lake and it was perfect for young children. We had a fantastic week everyone had a great time. The only complaint we had was the sofa beds in the basement. They were not comfortable. But everything else was great. The other bedrooms were very nice. We would certainly stay here again.

Owner's Response: We plan to replace the sofa bed with another bed at the end of this rental season.

Great location

  • 4 of 5

The location was great,; quiet, easy access to water, with a wonder dock and great place for kids to swim. The house was clean with comfortable beds. A few upgrades are needed in the house and it would be nice to have WiFi. The owners were very accommodating.

Second time and still as impressed!

  • 5 of 5

This is the second time we visit this lake house. Our first visit was 5 months ago! Yes, we couldn’t stay away for more than that. As always, Warren has been a pleasure to deal with and Karen kept her beautiful kitchen in the same flawless condition it was in 5 months ago.

We caught bass and carp and even saw an eel this time. We saw deer everyday, One day there were 13 of them roaming around the lake by sunset. We could see them from the deck while sipping our tea and enjoying the breathtaking view.

We will always keep coming back to this place where we’ve made so many memories and now consider our home away from home at Smith Mountain Lake. Once more thank you so much Warren and Karen for sharing!

Great fall vacation getaway!

  • 5 of 5

If you love quiet, nature and beauty this is your place! We visited the first of November and just enjoyed looking at the lake, sitting on the deck and the dock and hiking the State Park. This is a golf and lake community but because of the season it was very quiet and serene. The house is 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom and a full basement for ping pong. The kitchen is fully stocked and dining room table perfect for cards and games.

Be prepared to clean up your mess and dispose of trash. No big deal for us. Just leave it as clean as you found it!

Oh and our dogs enjoyed their walks and playing in the water!

Great place. We highly recommend!

A feast for the eyes and soul!

  • 5 of 5

“Lake Retreat” is a piece of heaven on earth! Pictures do NOT do this house justice!

The house from the inside is amazing and 100% comfortable in every way. It’s not one of today’s “artificially perfect” cold rentals, this is a true home with the warmth and heritage a home should have! “Lake Retreat” is very spacious and has gorgeous views from all rooms! It’s the only rental house we’ve been to that has an equally beautiful view from the waterside as well as all other sides.

The kitchen blew my mind away! It is FULLY equipped beyond anyone’s imagination. The plates and mugs are so beautiful, that we used foam plates while eating on the dock to ensure that the plates stay safe :) The pots and pans are amazing and come in ALL sizes. The glasses have the Bohemian Crystal shapes engraved to them! This kitchen is out of this world!

The master bedroom has two windows with amazing views. We slept every night with the curtains up to wake up to views of the squirrels running up and down the trees and one day we saw a beaver from the living room window! The deck is HUGE with views all around. At night, we’d sit on it with a flashlight and whenever we’d hear the deer steps, we’d point the flashlight at them and watch them run. We sat on the staircase leading to the first dock and stayed quiet to see and hear the different birds singing and the woodpecker pecking at the trees. We took over a hundred pictures of the sun shining though the connected branches and the left neighbors’ dock with its reflection on the water.

The two docks are even another plus to “Lake Retreat”. The first dock is perfect for casting at the new dock for Bass and for casting towards the bank on the other side! The new dock has electricity, water and shade! It was perfect for fishing for Carp and Bass. You can actually see the carp around the dock early in the morning and at sunset. It’s also a prime location for watching the deer during the day and at sunset as they come to the water to drink. We caught Bass, Carp, yellow Perch, white Perch and Bluegill. We had the time of our lives!

Warren and Karen are the best hosts ever! Warren made sure that we have everything that we could possibly need and more. He made us feel like family not renters! Karen made it possible for us to experience the best cooking and dining ever! Thank you both for sharing your beautiful “Lake Retreat” house with the rich heritage that it has to offer. We will definitely be back!
