Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a lovely time at your cottage-everything was just as we remembered fro our previous visit. The fishing was great and we enjoyed the beautiful sunsets from the deck. Our boys will cherish our warm summer memories of our time together. Thank you for such a special experience-we love being UP North.

Quiet and secluded getaway

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed and the Bass Lake cottage for two glorious weeks late June and early July. It was everything we expected and more. Google maps doesn't quiet know where it is but Robyn's directions were perfect so that was OK. Cottage is set off from a very quiet gravel road so there is no traffic noise, ever. It sits high on a hill from the lake and the woods surrounding the cottage add to the peacefulness. Although the cottage is well appointed (good coffee maker), we cook a lot so we had to buy a few things, easy enough to do because there are great supermarkets and shops within a 15 min drive. We brought our bikes and took them to Sutton's Bay (from which there is a beautiful bike trail to Traverse City) and to Glen Arbor (for another nice bike trail through the Sleeping Bear dunes). The lake shore is silty, but once we got in the canoe we had a nice time just paddling around the lake, which was also very quiet since I think there are only a few houses around it. Robyn and Nick were very attentive and made our time there a wonderful getaway.

More time needed!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at the cottage over Labor Day weekend for three nights! It was wonderful but we needed more time. We are hoping to come back next summer for a week. We spent time every morning and evening on the lake, my husband caught quite a few bass and really enjoyed himself. We spent our days visiting the wineries and enjoying the surrounding towns. The cottage itself was very comfortable and we had everything we needed. Wonderful time!

week away in August

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I came here for a getaway in August. We love the Leelanau area and like to come up and travel around the entire area. The lovely cottage is not too far off the beaten path and it is very well taken care of on the inside. And the country roads are so fun to drive around on you get used to it quickly. My husband loves to fish and had great luck the few times he went out using the row boat available at the cottage - perch, bass and blue gill. It is my fault for not inquiring but the steep hike down to the lake (although even steeper returning - lol!) caught be my surprise. We had brought our kayaks but one of them weighs over 70 lbs and we did not think it would be wise to attempt carrying it down the steep hike or back up. Perhaps if you have a 4x4 truck it would be doable? The home is stocked with everything you could need - fully stocked kitchen, washer/dryer, satellite TV, lots of games and books to peruse. The owners did a fantastic job making it a warm and inviting home. We hated to leave. Leelanau County is truly a gem. Not to be missed: swimming at Christmas Cove in Northport, breakfast at Martha's (Suttons Bay) and dinner at 9 Bean Rows (also Suttons Bay) and always, Fishtown!

Clean, cozy, quiet cottage in perfect location.

  • 5 of 5

This is the perfect place for "getting away from it all". The location is perfect and close (minutes) to quaint wineries, beaches, shopping, golf and just a short hop into Traverse City for larger scale entertainment. The cottage is clean, quiet and inviting. It is well equipped with everything you need with a grocery store minutes away. Close to great restaurants if you don't want to cook too! My favorite part of the day was the beautiful wooded walk down to the lake. The lake is very private and peaceful. Even though it was cold when we went, sitting down by the water, bundled up was better than anything for calming the soul. Pure serenity - no worries. Great wifi and tv too - sometimes they can be good for relaxing as well. This beautiful cottage has it all! It was hard to leave and we can't wait to go back.

Wonderful, Secluded Vacation Home

  • 5 of 5

We have been spending a week here each year for the past several years. The cottage is very comfortable and secluded. You don't see any other houses and feel like you have your own private area to relax in. The cottage has been updated as needed throughout the years and is always clean. It is also central to both the east, Suttons Bay, and west, Leland, part of the Leelanau Pennisula. If you bike, there’s a great Rails to Trails bike path that starts in Suttons Bay. We thoroughly enjoy the time we spend there and would recommend it to others.

Enjoy the Best of Leelanau With a Week at the Cottage

  • 5 of 5

If you want a comfortable, home-away-from-home vacation in the most beautiful of Michigan's counties, the Bass Lake Cottage is the place to be. The accommodations are exactly as advertised. The Cottage is located at the center of all the fun outdoor recreation spots in Leelanau County. Our favorites are the hiking trails at Leelanau State Park, but there is much to enjoy at this Bass Lake location also. Whatever your choice for vacation activities, the owners will be helpful in meeting your needs. We have just returned hjome from a week at the Cottage. We will return.
