A spacious, comfortable getaway for our Family at Thanksgiving. Beds were comfortable, lots of linens, towels and dinnerware for everyone and the second floor sitting area made a great area for the kids to use their PlayStation. All in all, a wonderful vacation with lots of memories made. Close proximity to the Outlet Mall, some great Restaurants and we even ordered pizza one night. Being from Chicago, (who really has the best pizza around), we were pleasantly surprised at how delicious Albano's was! We would definitely recommend this home, especially if you have a larger group. You can have privacy when you want, or sit together at the huge table and play games. The kitchen is a bit small, but didn't deter us at all from cooking a huge Thanksgiving dinner. We're already making plans for next year!
The house is just as it appears in the pictures. It is dated, but well suited for a large group. We took a couples trip (6 couples- supposed to be 7, but one couldn't make it), and all of us had our own bedroom and privacy when wanted. The large table made it the perfect spot for playing games and catching up with old friends. You can't beat the proximity to the beach and attractions in Michigan City! If you want fancy, this is not your house. But if looking for a comfortable place to relax, reconnect, and enjoy family or friends, then I highly recommend this house.
This is our third year rendezvousing at the Georgia Avenue house. Twenty of us comfortably enjoy each others company with plenty of living space and bathrooms. Even babies/toddlers/tired adults can nap without being disturbed by the liveliness of the rest of the household. Across the street from the entrance to the beach, walking distance to Washington Park, and a short drive to Al's Market for groceries. Linda, the property manager is a good communicator and does a solid job cleaning this huge home between guests. We look forward to returning next year--thanks, Allen!
Our family of 19 ranging in age from 1 to 80 spent an enjoyable week in this property. The house served our needs very well. We appreciated having a dining area that would seat us all at the same time. About a block to a beautiful sand beach was a major attraction. The house is old and spread out. This gave each family their own private space.
Very happy with the location and plenty of room for our family of 15.
The downside was that some of the blinds needed to be replaced. The floors downstairs were dirty along with the counters. Light bulbs were missing from some lamps. There was food left on one of the outside grills. The downstairs stayed fairly cool but upstairs was a nightmare. We were lucky to of brought a window air conditioner with us for another family member to take home. Ended up having to use that upstairs. Then one of the upstairs bathrooms started leaking from the ceiling that caused leaking downstairs. Was impossible getting in touch with property manager. Had to call owner who was shocked to hear of this problem. We were to be there from July 12 - July 19, 2013. Five of our family members ended up leaving on the 16th because of the heat. The rest of us left on the 18th around noon. Felt like for what we had to deal with the price was high. Ended up calling the owner when we returned home to let him know of our problems and was hoping to get a little refund along with all of our damage deposit. He offered us a discount if we came back to the property at a later date. I think our entire family is in agreement that we will pass on that offer. Not satisfied with our stay.
We stayed here on Memorial Day weekend. The house had lots of room for our big group. Enough beds for everyone. It was clean, well supplied and a half block walk to the beach. Truly enjoyed our stay. Not fancy but very comfy. Looking forward to coming back again.
