About Kathy Wilhelm

My husband and I are native to Buffalo New York. The cold winters in Buffalo are what brought us to vacation throughout Florida when our children were younger. We liked the laid back family atmosphere of the Treasure Island area and specifically Sunset Vistas. My husband also enjoys fishing and it is world class in this area. Being able to navigate the beaches with ease was a plus for us. There are times we only use our car for groceries.

Kathy Wilhelm purchased this condo in 2008

Why Kathy Wilhelm chose Florida Central Gulf Coast

Being small business owners it is difficult to get away for long periods of time and being in the Sunset Vistas rental program was a plus for us. Customer service is very important to us as vacationers and we wanted the same great service for our guests. No punching in a code to get into the condo or having to call an answering service if you need assistance. That's what are staff are for. We love the feeling of being at a hotel with all the amenities, yet, inside you have all of the conveniences of home. For us, it is the best of both worlds. The hotel atmosphere with the convenience and space of a condo and the ability to have breakfast and lunch "in" was an added plus. We have found this a big time and cost savings.

What makes this condo unique

Having access to the staff at the property is what we like the best. It gives you a sense of security knowing that as a vacationer your personal contact with me is not over once the reservation is made. Our staff are there for you 24/7. They are a great group of people that will do everything they can to make your stay more pleasurable. Our location is within 20 minutes to downtown St. Pete, 20 minutes to Clearwater, 30 minutes to Tampa International Airport, 10 minute walk to Johns Pass, a 1 hour boat trip to the best fishing anyone could ask for and of course a 2 minute walk down the hallway to the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico!!

Guestbook comments from the owner

We enjoyed our stay! Great location as we were able to walk to most things! We will definitely recommend this property to friends and family!

Great first two visit, went to heck on our third visit

  • 3 of 5

Know what room assignment you have before going. We where promised something close towards the beach and got a noisy traffic room that was next to busy street. Just the basic where clean, if you wanted a nightmare don't look on top of refrigerators or shelving. cloth dryer was another story, don't know how a completely pug lint vent ever would work thus was afraid to us dryer because of possibly starting a fire. Had to hang dry wet clothing. If you are having drinks at the pole side beware of the Security Guard as he has took his authority to far. Carried a tape measure to measure set back of all drinks from pole's edge, unreal I tell you. Was our third time staying and lets say I believe it will be our last. Beware they add a tip charge to everything you purchase and a few employees where not worth it.

Owner's Response: I am so sorry that we did not meet your expectations during this stay. As an owner we use the on site management company because of the fact that they can address any and all issues immediately if the guest brings it to our attention. I only wish that I had been made aware if the issues or that you had brought it to the attention of the staff on site. I have called the manager and they will go up and repair the dryer vent and attend to the top of the refrigerator immediately. They are also going to look into the "tip" automatically added to your bar bill and the issue of the drinks at the pool. In my experience the only time that there is a security issue at the pool is if there is glass. The security guard will ask that the drinks be poured into plastic cups. Again, I am sorry that we did not have the opportunity to make things right for you. We appreciate your feedback as we strive to improve our services.

Quick winter get away

  • 5 of 5

My husband, daughter and myself stayed in the unit for a short vacation from the cold in Ohio. The reservation process was great. Kathy called us to touch base and explain the reservation process but also provided very useful information about the condo, amenities, and local activities/restaurants. The unit was very clean and had everything we needed for our stay. The sunsets were amazing and the condo provided a wonderful respite from winter! Thanks for providing great service and a fantastic place to stay!

Owner's Response: When we head to the beach for a quick getaway we enjoy the warmth and sunsets as well. The only negative is packing to go home.... stays just never seem long enough.

Service Oriented

We visited this property on our trip to the CFP. Overall, the property is good, although the specific unit we rented was slightly worn and could use some restocking of kitchen items. The staff was very helpful with a couple of items and took care of them quickly and efficiently. Since we were involved in CFP events everyday, we didn't have the opportunity to visit the Café, Tiki Bar, or pools, but they appeared to be well kept and nice. The bedrooms are somewhat small but if you're travelling to that area for the beach or other vacation activity, I don't imagine the size of the bedrooms is too much of a factor. The kitchen and dining/living area were certainly big enough for the four of us.

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I am sorry to hear that you needed a few items for the kitchen when you arrived and happy to hear that the staff took care of it quickly. Having the staff on site to take care of our guests was one of the main reasons that we decided to buy this condo. They truly try their hardest and when there is a slip up they will do all they can to make things right. We hope Clemson makes it again next year! What a great game.

Sunset Vistas

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in a terrific unit while in the Tampa area for the college football national championship game. Kathy's unit was booked, but she promptly called me (on her New Year's Day holiday, no less) to let me know that she had called the manager on my behalf and there was one unit left! She took care of everything and communication was excellent! The complex itself was nice, unit was clean and a great value. Beautiful views from the balcony! The beach in front is gorgeous and easily accessible. I highly recommend Kathy and Sunset Vistas and hope to return next time I'm in the area.

Wonderful Experience

  • 5 of 5

We recently stayed at the Sunset Villas for several days and everything was great! We made our reservation with Kathy, the owner and she was pleasant and responded to our inquiry immediately. As her condo wasn't available for our entire stay, she made sure that we had a comparable room with a fantastic view. The condo was very comfortable and had everything we could possibly need. Everything was spotless and in working order. The staff at the resort were extremely helpful and friendly. We had several mornings with breakfast and coffee on our balcony overlooking the Gulf but we also had breakfast one morning in the resort cafe and the food was good and reasonably priced. We enjoyed the tiki bar by the pool and had great conversations with several other guests. There are two pool areas. One with a wading pool and one with a large pool with plenty of lounge chairs for everyone to enjoy. Both pools were kept clean and in good repair. The condo is right on the beach and the beach itself is very wide, clean and beautiful! We would certainly stay in this facility again.

Treasure Island is a great area for families and couples alike. We walked across the drawbridge to John's Pass several times...a very pleasant 15-20 minute walk. There are many shops, bars, restaurants, and several places to get a charter boat to dolphin watch. We did go out on a boat and truly enjoyed it but to be honest you can see dolphins from John's Pass dock and right from the beach in front of the condo.

This was a great vacation and we are planning a return visit in the future.

Thank You Kathy!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind words. I am glad that you enjoyed yourselves. Often guests will want to go on a dolphin tour which are fun but you can actually see just as many from shore on the beach or at the pass....especially at dusk. No matter how may you see it is always a thrill when you hear someone say...." look dolphin"!

We truly enjoyed every day of our 5 day vacation at the condo. We had a 2 bedroom gulf front condo and it was perfect for 4 adults and my 7 year old grandson. The weather was great and the beach is really awesome. We enjoyed the pools and whirlpools as well. Excellent can walk along the beach to John's Pass! We plan to return next year!
