About the property

Farmstay, 0 Bedrooms, 1 Bathrooms, (Sleeps 5)

Staying in a yurt is a beautiful experience, you will feel so at home amongst nature. Our 6 metre yurt style is modern retro, bohemian and quirky - a unique glamping experience.

We have 10 hectares of meadows and native bush, and we invite you to be a part of our solar powered, earth loving lifestyle.

The yurt includes a super king size bed and then mattresses that we can pull out for kids/ guests. The beautiful, sustainably built bathroom is off the deck and includes a bio-loo that is emptied and reset between each booking. (It is also smell-free, easy use - full explanation given!) and hot shower. There is a small, covered kitchenette with basic supplies and a two hob stove for simple cooking and cups of tea. We provide a chilly bin and ice for keeping milk cold.

You will get a key to our back gate which takes you immediately on to Conservation land and the many beautiful walks of the Karangahake Gorge, and even the Kamai Ranges if you are keen for a real mission! Sit out on the deck and watch the sunset on the mountain, watch the galaxy of stars appear over your head as the native ruru and glowworms make an appearance.

We are happy to either leave you in peace or show you around a little! If we are around and you have children we would love to take your on the farm rounds to feed the ducks and collect the eggs and check on the calves and goats. We will point you in the right direction for the world famous tunnels and swimming spots. We will try and be sensitive to your needs and what you would like.

Our eco farm stay is at the foor of Karangahake, on the Waitawheta River. We have bush walks and waterfalls and biking and hiking and swimming galore. Adventurers and people wanting to get in touch with nature will enjoy our busy working farm at this very popular summer spot.

We are five minutes from the award winning Bistro with its incredible wood fired pizzas, and a 15 minute drive away from the two local towns, Paeroa and Waihi.

Special conditions:

- We do a pro clean inbetween guests but do ask that people tidy up after themselves, dishes etc.

- We try to be as earth-loving as possible so ask that guests use the eco dishwash and eco shampoo that we provide.

- We have goats, cows, ducks and chickens and are totally happy for guests to help us feed them, but do ask that guests don't scare animals!

- Dogs are welcome if kept on leash so they don't chase our animals

-This is a family farm so no parties please and quiet after 10pm

Extras: Cleaning (Required, NZ$30.00 per stay); Linen (included);

Absolutely idyllic - we loved everything about the Yurt and the location! It was actually wonderful to spend time off grid and can fully appreciate why people live like it :) No light pollution meant the night sky and stars were so clear and the Milky Way completely visible. The bed was very comfortable and we were warm. Kitchen facilities meant that we could have cooked for ourselves however we opted for dinner at The Falls Retreat just 5 minutes drive down the road. Full marks Lucy and fam!

Love the access to the walks, river and mining tunnel/glow worms. A really special natural place to get away from it all. Our children loved it.
