Barefoot Beach Bach is situated overlooking the ocean, estuary and lagoon and faces North / northwest which allows views of spectacular sunsets as you wine and dine on the deck. The beach has clean golden sand and at low tide there is a reef which is revealed just off the beach. Swimming is very safe and snorkelling amongst the rocks either end of the beach is great fun. Boating is a popular past time and fishing from the beach or off the rocks. When the surf is 'up' the expertise of surfers is awesome and the windsurfers entertain onlookers as well. In the estuary you can paddle board and even spear flounder fish at dusk. There are lots of stunning coastal walks to enjoy to the East and West of the beach. The peace and quiet is special about Tapuaetahi and we are a gated community which offers added security. There are about 52 residences here and just over half are permanently occupied. The rest are holiday homes but everyone is always friendly and helpful. It is not far to explore further afield and a journey up to Cape Reinga can be fitted in for a great day trip . There is opportunity to drive to Paihia , just 40 minutes away and from there take a sail on the sightseeing boats to swim with the Dolphins or visit the Bay of Islands in all its beauty.
The Kauri forests are a 'must' to visit and Ngawha Springs therapeutic Hot Pools a real treat. Kerikeri offers great shopping with two large supermarkets and lots of gift and craft shops . Cafes and Restaurants are plentiful . Enjoy our Saturday Market In Kerikeri which covers all kinds of foods and coffee to sample . Oysters cooked several ways and pulled pork sandwiches are popular. Veggies , cheeses , wines , artisan ice creams and delicatessen fare are some of the different types of produce to purchase. The bach itself has everything you may need to enjoy a relaxing time with a book, listening to music, watching Netflix or sitting in the sun surrounded by the cottage garden. Arrive by car, bus or fly in.
Barefoot Beach Bach doesn't like guests smoking inside but welcomes you to enjoy this on the deck. The deck and cottage are fine for babies who can't crawl yet ! The cottage has one queen bed. Pets are not allowed but I have a resident cat , Dora, who is just lovely. Relax , refuel, and enjoy all that is on offer !
