Overview

About the property

Bach or holiday home, 9 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, (Sleeps 18)

Visit the stunning Karangahake Gorge, our bach is located in Waikino only a few minutes walk across the swing bridge to the Hauraki Rail Trail, historic gold mining sites and miniature train.

We are nestled above the iconic Waikino Tavern, so after your day exploring the area you can grab a drink, a meal and relax!

Waikino is located half way between Paeroa and Waihi, close enough to easily pop into town to explore the antique shops and art galleries or head down to the beach for some time in the sun.

The bach itself has four double rooms and a bunk room and there are an additional three double rooms and a bunk room in two separate buildings available for larger groups or individual hire. If you require the additional rooms please remember to select them when making your booking.

Please note: the bach is over 130 years old (it used to be a miner's boarding house), it has been renovated internally but it's still an old structure with the associated quirks and is very much a 'kiwi' family bach not a new building.

Special conditions:

Deck is not fenced so not suitable for unsupervised children.

If you haven't booked all the accommodation the shearers quarters andamp; baby barn may be rented separately.

Extras: Linen (Required, NZ$0.00 per stay); Baby Barn individual hire (Optional, NZ$80.00 per night); Shearers quarters individual hire per room (Optional, NZ$80.00 per night); NOTE: Under Kiwi bach tradition you are expected to: Clean the house and do the dishes before you leave;

Would have been great to have some power to the baby barn and if the deck off the lounge was larger

Would have been great to have some power to the baby barn and if the deck off the lounge was larger to sit out on.

Lovely and clean, roomy and comfortable.

Lovely and clean, roomy and comfortable. Wonderful having 2 toilets and 2 showers for our group of 8. Great location for utilising the cycle trails to Waihi and Paeroa. Will be even better once the Waikino Tavern is open after the renovations - in the meantime, a delicious meal is to be had a short walk/cycle away at The Falls.

We had a fabulous stay at the bach and would happy recommend to all.

We had a fabulous stay at the bach and would happy recommend to all. It was clean and tidy, loved the set up, not fancy in any way - with multiple buildings, plus the additional outside shower and toilet (perfect for a big group likes ours). The Falls Retreat (a lovely restaurant) is a 15 minute walk away with the most stunning waterfall just across the road from it. There is a bridge directly across the road from the bach that takes you across the gorge, it is stunning.

Great accommodation, spacious and clean. A short stroll to the Waikino Tavern for meals & handy to local attractions. It was the perfect location for our girls weekend away.
