San Martino In Freddana-monsagr Villa Rental Photos and Description

5 Bedrooms, Private Pool, Gym, Large Living Rooms Opening On The Jasmine Veranda

Set in wooded seclusion in a very peaceful and panoramic position at only 13 kilometers from the historic walled town of Lucca and the sandy beaches of the Versilia coast, this charming home VILLA LOPPY, dated back 1603, commands magnificent views of the nearby hillsides and valley

The property has been sensitively converted, resulting in a combination of comfort and traditional Tuscan convenience, retaining the original beamed ceilings and using antique cotto floor tiles.

A striking feature of the property is the antique fortified garden which enclose the pool and a bastion with a dome of jasmine plants beautifully integrated into the sloping olive groves and woods. The lovely patio ideal for ‘al fresco’ dining. The are several dining areas in the garden. Our gardener cleans the garden and the pool every day.

The house, approx. 350 sqm large, consists of two floors:

GROUND FLOOR Entrance into a triple living room with french windows overlooking the garden and the pool, dining room opening onto a patio with dining facilities and table and chairs, ideal for al fresco dining, fully equipped kitchen, 1 double bedroom with king size bed, 1 bathroom with built-in shower.

FIRST FLOOR: 4 double bedrooms (2 with king size bed and 2 with 2 twin beds each), 1 bathroom with grand built-in shower.

In the garden there is also another little house with a huge living room with cycler, tapis roulant and pool table.

We only rent the whole property to 1 party per time so privacy is never compromised

About Mrs Sonia

Hallo everyone! My name is SONIA and I am from Lucca. I run my Lucca Holiday Rentals company that offers exceptional apartments in the heart of Lucca. My goal is to help you fall in love with Lucca – to discover, explore, taste and savor new sights and experiences in this incredible city.

My company began almost 10 years ago when I started to rent my family villa after my parents moved to the mountains when they got retired. I spent there my entire childhood and I grew up there in deep contact with the nature and the history. My father thaught me everything about the birds and the antique trees and flowers of the villa and the smell of the sizzling pans used to wake me up each Sunday morning after my mum started to cook! I was fascinated by her when she was telling me the history of the villa in the past century. I thought this kind of feelings are too precious to let them go so then I had the idea to share my love of Lucca and “la dolce Vita” by finding beautiful apartments , villas and farmhouses in my favorite Lucca neighborhoods among my family members properties. Lucca Holiday Rentals started out as a boutique family company and now there are over 15 people working together. We are a friendly and enthusiastic team who will assist you every step of the way, from your first enquiry to your arrival in Lucca.

Mrs Sonia purchased this villa in 2011

This place is even more beautiful than the photos. The grounds are impeccable, and perfect for kids to safely run around on or just have a leisurely walk. The villa itself was exactly the Tuscan experience we were looking for - tranquil, has it's own impeccable grounds, beautiful views and near walking distance to a lovely little village with great restaurants. The kitchen is awesome and fully equipped to cook yourself a Tuscan meal to eat al fresco. The caretakers are awesome and so helpful. My entire family loved the place, and dream of coming back bringing more people to enjoy it. Highly highly recommend this place.

CHRISTMAS HEAVEN

  • 5 of 5

An ideal place to unwind out of season as well as the obvious summer dates. Transport was easily arranged on the advice of the very helpful owners. The accommodation is very clean and comfortable; well presented with a delightful living area with great views from the big windows to soak up some much needed winter sunshine. The welcome pack was a very nice touch and saved the us from the usual arrival angst when self catering.

The location was very quiet with no intrusive traffic noise but just in a 15 mins drive from the city centre: a real bonus!. The local facilities are within a walk if you like to walk and explore the area, with the beach close by (15 mins, even if we could not swim in december!) and the train station as well.

We used the heating and it kept the house very warm for the whole time but we also used the fireplace in the upstairs kitchen which was very funny.

All in all an excellent venue for our 2 weeks break which helped to fully recharge the batteries. We will be back as soon as we can.

Our thanks to Sonia for a really place to stay.

I couldn't recommend it enough!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the property in late September 2014. Our stay was absolutely wonderful. The Villa was beautifully done. Bedrooms were comfortable, the kitchen large, the living spaces spacious and more than enough for everyone. The house was immaculate. The grounds were beautiful, the garden was romantic and elegant with many lemon trees and the gazebo on the top of the fortress surrounding the property with a breathtaking view. The pool was a welcome relief in the afternoon and well used by our children. We were also blessed with a lovely owner available for our request and always met with a big smile.

Sonia, the host, was outstanding. She was like a personal concierge. She helped arrange anything we needed during our excursions thru Tuscany. Advice on best places to see, best spots to park, best restaurants to visit. This is my 8th visit to Italy, but I saw it through new eyes. This note is just to say how much we loved our stay in Villa Loppy. This Villa was the PERFECT way to appreciate Tuscany: it's location, the views, and especially the hospitality, It is a magical place! We loved every moment. A million thanks.

Visited twice in 2013 and 2014

  • 5 of 5

I was privileged enough to visit Villa Loppy not once, but twice in both 2013 and 2014. I must say each precious moment spent in this charming, luxurious villa was a moment I forever hold in my heart! From the delicious food prepared by one of the local women, to the astounding scenery, to the garden, my experiences at Villa Loppy were some of the most memorable of my life. Our gracious hosts Sonia, Cristina and Rossella provided endless opportunities to revel in authentic Italian culture and experiences. If I could go nowhere else in all my travels, I would be quite content to lay around at Villa Loppy and luxuriate in the Tuscan sun, food, wine, and culture!

THANK YOU MRS SONIA FOR ALLOWING US TO STAY AT YOUR VILLA!

  • 5 of 5

The Villa actually exceeded expectations from the photos and website description. It is more beautiful then the photos show. The vistas are spectacular and the house fit me and my guests lifestyle to a T. Ten of us, 4 couples and 2 singles (we were all between 48 and 60 years old) enjoyed a wonderful week with spacious bedrooms with bathrooms, a great living and dining room that made us all comfy and at the same time provided each of us the privacy needed. The patio/terrace was truly our favorite part. It is multi-leveled with several dining and seating options to take in a glass of wine and the beautiful scenery of mountains, vineyards, rolling country side and olive trees---absolutely spectacular. The kitchen is so inviting...we only ate out twice and cooked the other nights. We never wanted for any utensils or dishes, the kitchen is well stocked. The gardens and courtyards are immaculately maintained. The owner, Mrs Sonia and her aunt were very accomodating and prompt in their responses to all inquiries prior to our trip. The location is great, with a top notch winery within 3 miles and other smaller wineries close by. The village of Loppeglia is so quaint and wonderful to bike ride through or just relax. The first night we were so excited to be there. We all gathered outside drinking wine, sharing munchies, stories about our journey from 3 countries to arrive at the Villa.... this was unforgettable. Walking in the village we met very pleasant people, especially the English couple who owns a house close by who entertained a lot and shared great restaurant and local information with us. The villa was wonderful, the weather was perfect, the pool was lovely, the view was amazing, and we all had a wonderful time and we wish to come back soon! Thank you Mrs Sonia for allowing us to stay there!

Amazing Charm and Thoughtful Service

  • 5 of 5

What a fantastic experience we had renting this villa. Even before we closed the deal, Sonia was exceptionally helpful and prompt. And, the recommendation of our private chef and cooking lesson was perfect.

We arrived to Lucca later than we had hoped and were greeted by Christina with a welcoming smile and assurance that it was OK. She guided our way out of Lucca and into the hills north of the city. As we drove through the private gate, what a view. The villa was lit for us and open for our weary bones.

With an explanation of all things electric and pertinent by Silvano, the caretaker, we were ready for our adventure. His lovely wife made arrangements for the restaurant - right out the back door - to seat us as we were without provisions and hungry due to our late flight. They weren't quite ready as it was a full house that night, but called on the house phone 20 minutes later and served up some amazing food. So amazing, in fact, that we returned the next night when the second group of party arrived.

The drive the next morning back down the hillside was easier in the daylight, and got easier with each day. Don't let it scare you. The view and peace is worth it.

Christina, come to find out, was to be the chef for our cooking lesson. An optional trip to the grocery with her in the morning helped us stock our cupboards and refrigerators for the week. She spent nearly the day with us as she shared the recipes and secrets of her mother and grandmother.

Don't miss a visit to the vineyard Valle Del Sole if your up to it and around during the season. Marco was an amazing host.

Sonia, we'll be back. Thank you for making the amazing property available.

Lucca, beautiful city, famous for its monumental 15th century fortified wall. But dig a little deeper and you find that its winding medieval streets actually follow the plan laid out by the Romans in 180BC. And before the Romans, Lucca was one of the major centres of Etruria, the ancient country of central Italy that more or less corresponds to modern Tuscany. Unsurprisingly then, Lucca is steeped in history. Your twelfth century building is just a small part of that. There are museums and churches, and the magnificent cathedral, the Duomo di San Martino, is the town’s finest Romanesque building, its impressive façade a triumph of sculpture, carving and inlay work – at just five minutes’ walk from the apartment. Modern delights include terrific restaurants, bars and shops, all within a few minutes’ walk. In Lucca’s winding streets, the pedestrian comes before the car, so you can move at your own pace. In fact wandering the streets is one of the great pleasures of the city.
