Need to escape the madness of city life, or simply looking for somewhere to unwind and rejuvenate? Then "Fantasy Island" is the place for you.
The Hawaiki cottage is a sunny one-bedroom unit with elevated cliff-top sea views across Tryphena Harbour. Nestled quietly amongst 13 acres of bush and landscaped resort-like gardens, Fantasy Island offers plenty of space to spread out and enjoy the views and sunshine.
Your hosts Adam and Peter are nearby to advise and assist as required, otherwise you will be given the privacy to enjoy your time on the property. You may choose to explore the wonderful beauty that Great Barrier Island has to offer, or alternatively simply watch time slip by as you relax and unwind at this beautiful, tranquil property.
The cottage is self-contained with it's own ensuite and is quite separate from the main house and other buildings. With 13 acres at your disposal, there are plenty of places to find solitude and relaxation. The driveway to the cottage is sealed and easily accessible by car or foot, and there is plenty of room to park.
For self-catering, the cottage kitchen has a fridge/freezer and a gas hob and oven, plus there is a BBQ located in your own private courtyard. Otherwise there is a good selection of restaurants and bars within walking distance in Tryphena if you choose to eat out. Cooked breakfasts are also available on-site on request most days at reasonable prices (a menu is available in the cottage).
There are also two smaller cabins on the property that can also be booked if you are staying as part of a group, or may be booked by other guests. The cabins are set elsewhere on the property to ensure peace and privacy for all guests. The entire property is a quiet retreat for adults only.
We think Fantasy Island is a slice of paradise with outstanding sea views and gardens. The cottage promises a comfortable stay where you can relax and enjoy all the beauty and serenity that Great Barrier Island has to offer.
Smoking allowed only outside please. No fires or fireworks (year round island-wide total fire ban).
Not suitable for children nor pets (adults only retreat).
IMPORTANT: WE RECOMMEND HAVING TRAVEL INSURANCE
Occasionally bad weather can impact upon travel plans as ferry sailings and flights can be cancelled or postponed. If this happens, the airlines and ferry companies will try and move you to the next available flight or sailing but this may be problematic if you need to be somewhere at a specific time.
-If you currently have travel insurance, this may cover any weather related delays and cancellations. We recommend checking your policy.
New Zealand residents:
-Google "domestic travel insurance nz" to obtain a selection of affordable insurance options. Most companies let you book travel insurance online. Be sure to check the level of cover and insurance excess when purchasing. This simple step of obtaining travel insurance will provide peace of mind should bad weather impact upon your holiday.
