Fantastic Place!

  • 5 of 5

The house was just as advertised. It's less than 5 minutes from the airport by car and is right on the beach. My 23 yr old daughter and I stayed 6 nights.

The kitchen has recently been renovated and the over all feel of the place is just great. Large windows to soak in the views of sunrises and sunsets plus all the wild life.

The 2nd bedroom downstairs with 2 beds is accessed from the rear of the house with it's own entrance from the outside. All rooms have window AC units which kept the place cool.

Freddie, the house keeper, was really great. She helped us with ideas to go around town or stores to get things. She also helped out with laundry. There's a washing machine in a small building just outside the house and it also has a shower. You hang your clothes to dry. Set your alarm for 1:00 am to see more stars than you can imagine.

A couple great places: Prime Island Meats and Deli is about 5 minutes down the road towards George Town. Great meats and grocery items.

The liquor store in George Town is the best place to buy liquor and beer. The "whole sale" beer place near the airport is more expensive with a much smaller selection.

Scotia Bank and Royal Bank of Canada are in George Town. Not many places take credit cards due to the fees so bring cash or get cash in town. Usually about $4.50 fee per transaction. US dollars are used interchangeably with Bahamian currency.

Stocking Island: has a great place called Chat and Chill where you can hang a t-shirt on the ceiling as a remembrance, get a conch salad by the water and feed sting rays out of your hand. Elvis will take you in the water taxi at the government wharf for $15.

A full day boat tour of the islands that includes: views of famous people's houses/islands; swimming with the pigs; swimming with nurse sharks; feeding iguanas; viewing a sunken drug plane and swimming into Thunder Ball Grotto made famous by the 007 movie. We loved "Four C's" tours. $180/person + $10 landing fee to swim with the sharks.

Santana's restaurant is on Little Exuma which is about a 35 minute drive from the house. Much worth it and you can stop by the salt pillar that talks about the history of the salt ponds.

Shirley's Fish Fry is also on the way to George Town and has great food.

The "hotel row" has a couple good bars on the water. Exuma Beach Resort has "Latitudes" that has great dancing music Friday nights.

We will definitely come back and stay here. Just a great experience all around!

A paradise!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for two weeks with our two children. Frederika is very helpful and explained everything very friendly and was always there immediately for our questions. The house is located directly on the beautiful beach. A dream! It's all in the house, what you need. The view from the living room to the sea is indescribably great. The bedroom outside the house is much better than described in the past reviews. It has no sea view but a window and air conditioning and fan. You need a car to get anywhere. Foods are very expensive on exuma. We would always go back to this beautiful place.

Incredible View

  • 5 of 5

Excellent home, well stocked kitchen, comfy setup, and good location on the island.

We would definitely recommend the home and stay again.

Our only slight grievance is that the welcome email gave a wrong gps point, so we had some trouble finding the place, and the owner only gives a home phone number which is almost never answered and has a full answering machine. There is a sign on the home, but you cannot see it from the road, so its easy to miss. It made our arrival a bit rocky, but once we found the home, it was amazing.

Owner's Response: I am so sorry about the confusion with the directions. Homeaway does not allow me to modify the location of the home on their website, which is incorrect. When communicating with renters, typically we will send very detailed directions from the airport to the home. I also have the location from Google Earth available upon request.

Paradise Indeed!

  • 4 of 5

Two of us spent a week at Paradise Point and the access to the ocean and the view was truly amazing. You have your own private beach front and during an hour walk down the beach each day I saw 4-8 other people ( from other homes along the beach). It was ideal for two people - upon arrival and seeing the add on suite we chose to share the bedroom and not access the downstairs suite. The downstairs suite is not renovated and does not have windows and is a seperate suite accessed from the back of the house ( pics of the add on suite were not posted on the site so we did not know what to expect) If we had gone as two couples or 4 people we would have been disappointed and had a hard time deciding who would sleep in that area and it would have been over priced for what you get. My step daughter and I were able to share the one bedroom and bathroom on the main floor and the wonderful picture windows so it worked great! Honestly I would say this rental works best for 2 people even though it states up to 4-6. For two people it truly is paradise- clean, the main floor looks like the pics and the location and views make it so worth it. I would love to go back. Freddie the caretaker was super helpful and she even helped us find the place when we got lost and later during our trip when we had a tire on our rental needing air. The fresh meat market is the best place to get food and is just down the road. They have rotisserie chickens, cuts of meat and might have fresh or frozen fruit if you go early enough in the day. We didn't eat out a lot as most of the choices/restaurants were really expensive or deep fried food but the kitchen is fully equipped and made it easy to prepare healthy meals. Keep in mind the food choices at the grocery stores are expensive and limited as this is a small island so fresh fruit/vegs are not in abundance. I would recommend this place for a nice, quiet and relaxing laid back vacay.

Perfect name for a perfect stay on the best island

  • 5 of 5

My boyfriend and I could not have been happier at this lovely hideaway in the Exumas. Honestly, we would love to keep this little gem to ourselves but the host deserves praise for this place. It was absolutely perfect for two. The house is cozy and beautifully laid out, with gorgeous views of the blue water and tons of natural sunshine, shaded here and there by the lazy coco trees. The view cannot be adequately captured by photos, it is postcard perfect! We were happy just to sit in the living room reading with homemade daiquiris (the kitchen has everything you need to cook and make smoothies), or go for a swim in the bathtub water. The front deck was the best spot for taking our breakfast with a view and we even got private massages out there at sunset on our last night. It was paradise! Freddie the caretaker is the best and embodies the true Bahamian spirit - Friendly, helpful, and so laid back! She directed us to Eddie's Edgewater on our first night after a rough arrival in stormy weather, where we got some of the best fish and rice take-out on the island...And even though she was always a call or knock away, we always had total privacy for the duration of our stay. The beach is super private and we saw all of 3 people during our week. The location is perfect, away from it all yet a pleasantly short drive from local stops and eateries. Renting a car is a must because you really get to experience all that the Exumas has to offer. Cant say enough about this little slice of paradise. We will definitely be back! Thanks Laura!

Best Family Vacation ever

  • 5 of 5

Paradise Point describes this home perfectly. It is located on a beautiful point secluded from neighboring homes and the view is breathtaking. Our family of five was more than comfortable in the open floor plan. We enjoyed the new kitchen to cook meals when we wanted to relax and enjoy the day snorkeling right in front of the house. Town was a short drive and from there we were able to catch a water taxi to explore other islands. Many wonderful memories were made at Paradise Point. The kids are already planning our return trip.
