Ted is a retired widower and lives on the east coast of Florida, near Cape Canaveral. He has three adult children, who live in the same area, five grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. His daughter, Chris Filiberto, owns Chrissydale Cottage just across the drive from the farmhouse. The two of them come to PEI in the spring to prepare the vacation homes for occupancy in the summer.

My wife, Ann, and I had seen the Anne of Green Gables movie and were impressed by the beauty of the island. We came to PEI on vacation, and began looking for a summer place. The moment we saw Annandale we knew it was for us. The Victorian architecture fit the island perfectly.

What makes this house unique

The peaceful seclusion of the location makes for a wonderful family vacation, and then there is east access to an excellent beach at Cousins Shore, to entertainment at Cavendish, and to shopping and restaurants at Kensington and Summerside.

The farm house was just as it was pictured.

The farm house was perfect for our family reunion. Everyone who wanted one had their own room. The couples had their own rooms and the singles had a room to themselves. The kitchen was the main meeting place except when it was nice outdoors when we sat outside. We had a bonfire four nights and watched for shooting stars. There were 9 in the house and 2 in a motor home so we had lots for meals. The kitchen was very well stocked but we ran short of toilet paper which one of my sisters came prepared. We left some for the next tenants. The water was great for drinking and we didn't run out of hot water. Long walks in the country were enjoyed by some. This vacation has now moved to the top of the list of my favourite vacations. I would recommend this place to anyone who wanted to get together with a group of 6-10. We travelled to Cavendish, Kensington, Summerside, and Charlottetown where we ate at restaurants and shopped. We tried to go deep sea fishing but high winds prevented that but it is usually available. Whether you go to see the countryside, swim at the beach, shop til you drop, or just relax in the country, it suits every purpose. I hope to go back sometime.

From the first conversation with the gracious owner to the first glimpse of the farm house it was lo

The Annandale Farm House was everything I'd hoped for on our second PEI adventure. Comfortable, nostalgic and spacious, it was more than accommodating of our large family. Games, bedding, and countless little wonders abounded. Christina, the owner's daughter who was staying in the nearby cottage was delightful and quick to respond to any minor concerns, as was the friendly, competent caretaker. The location was pleasantly central to the many beautiful attractions of the Island: extraordinary beaches, wild lupine everywhere, a quilt of rolling fields in reds, greens and golds...a little bit of heaven on earth. The house was vintage but simultaneously up to date in all the important ways: laundry facilities, internet, and all the kitchen and barbeque equipment anyone could need. I am longing to return soon.

Exactly what we wished for and dreamed of,,,

Nine of us, including five adults and four children, stayed at this charming and gorgeous piece of literature during the middle of August and to a person on the final day agreed if there was any way to purchase this farm house, we should. To not do so would would have been considered wasteful in our opinion, but extremely opportunistic for anyone who loved the property as much as we did during our vacation. Contrary to what I read one reviewer on here say in an itemized fashion, we found every thing to our liking and wouldn't or couldn't have asked for more. Both levels of the house were immaculate, the kitchen was huge and well stocked with every utensil and appliance you could want. The living room and adjacent parlour exuded Victorian motif, as did the beautiful sitting room on the second floor. The pantry area, complete with dry goods bins of yesteryear, was spacious. The front yard, protected by a number of huge, shady trees only accentuated the peacefulness of the moment,,,whether you were grilling at any time of the day, or just relaxing on the porch or in lawn chairs on the well kept grounds. This is why we selected this as our vacation destination, not because there were theme parks or water slides within a stone's throw of one another. And sure, there are plenty of golf courses, tennis courts and fine restaurants within a short driving distance, but again, we weren't looking for Myrtle Beach or Disneyworld.

And a special word of thanks to the owner Ted Moorhead, who through his descriptive online narrative and helpful emails and phone calls, helped make our decision a little simpler.

The single worst destination experience. Ever.

Not even sure where to begin. I guess I need to begin with the advertisement itself. The web page reads “Annandale Farm - Your Charming Victorian Vacation Home on Prince Edward Island.” Taking their wording, lets review this “Charming” farmhouse.

1. Hidden in a small woods in the midst of farm fields, about a third of a mile from the road: The reality is, the house is located at the end of what appears to be a 4X4 trail, one that is very muddy at the middle, so low slung sport scars need not make the attempt. It is rough, with huge tire swallowing holes, so be alert as you drive in.

2. Maximum peacefulness and privacy, away from the noise and crowds of tourist havens: the reality is that if you want to be as far away as possible from anything to actually view, then this location may be ideal for you.

3. A lovely secluded beach is five minutes away: it is a very beautiful beach, and it is very secluded, well, it is at midnight. As far as the distance, the beach is just “five minutes away” once you drive to 15 minutes to the parking area. It is a 5-minute walk.

4. Excellent restaurants are a short drive away: there is a decent restaurant about 20 minutes away, but for excellent dining, I drive to Summerside or Rustico is required. Summerside is 30 minutes away, Rustico is 25.

5. Many diverse family entertainment attractions, excellent golf courses, and tennis courts are nearby: the issue is obvious- you can’t be far away from everything and still be close to everything. The closest golf course is in new Glasgow, a 30-minute drive. Most of the family entertainment can be found in Cavendish that is 20 minutes away.

6. For a peaceful, relaxed visit to one of the world's most beautiful islands, this is the perfect spot: the reality is very different. While Prince Edward Island is arguably the most beautiful island in North America, this is hot in the perfect spot. Let me explain the issues we had with this booking.

The house was filthy both inside and out. Despite searching, no broom or dustpan could be found. We discovered on the first morning that the coffee maker was old and no longer work, but one of our party managed to jimmy rig it so that we could get coffee. Most of the time we simply drove 20 minutes to Kensington to the Tim Horton’s. The screens fit so poorly, that mosquitoes could easily enter, and did quite vigorously. (See photos). Owner's Response: This is the only negative response received from 9 renters, but we do take it seriously. We have ordered potholes in the drive repaired, and the other problems mentioned attended to. Annandale is in the center of PEI, and near the best beaches, on the north shore. It is ideally located in the heart of the Anne Region for touring either east or west. There are fine restaurants in Kensington, New London, Stanley Bridge and Cavendish, less than a half hour away, as is a golf course at Green Gables and Margate. So we vigorously defend the desirability of the Annandale location. As to the complaint about dirt, I am surprised, as we use Terry Maids, a licensed, professional cleaning service, and have received no complaints from anyone else. Since the lawn is well covered with grass, I am puzzled as to the origin of the "filth". Anyway, I have alerted Terry Maids to the problem and asked them to be more careful. We also got a broom and dust pan, and a new coffee maker. Had this tenant spoken to the caretaker about any of these problems, I am sure they could have been easily resolved. We also asked the caretaker to check the screens to correct any looseness that would leave an opening for mosquitoes. If you want to be in the city, or with all of the tourists in Cavendish, I suggest you not rent Annandale. But if you want a beautiful heritage vacation home in a peaceful, private setting, this is the place for you.

Peace and quiet

Home away, far away from reality, back to the Victorian era. Beautiful farmhouse, decorated with love. Old-style furnishings with antique accessories, with functioning appliances, including washer & dryer, a must for family with small children.

Far enough away from tourist attractions, and close enough to amenities, once you're ready for adventure. Cousins' beach, a locals secret, 5 minute drive, 15 minutes by bike driven by strong legs. John Cabot park and local kitchen parties, are a must. Ted gives great tips, so pay attention to his emails.

House needs a little maintenance to bring back to original splendour, and please respect the spirits.

Charming, beautiful, relaxing, and awesome deal!

This is our second year in a row we have stayed on the property last year we stayed with friends that rented the Chrissy dale cottage ( the families other house on the property) we loved it so much we brought all of our friends and rented the Annandale house to accommodate our large group of 8 while our friends rented the other house at the same time. Our friends Matt and Anna got engaged while we were up there on cousins shore beach while we were up there making the trip even more unforgettable! We are planning to return next year! The house has everything you need or could want it comes fully stocked minus consumables like toilet paper and food. We are from the states and I highly suggest bringing food, drinks alcoholic and non, and things like toilet paper. As these items are very expensive on the island and you can not get the same kinds of foods that we have in America. A must see is the Anne of green gables museum, the beach, drive in movie theater and the amusement park in cavendish. The house is in a great location 10 ,minutes from the beach, 30 minutes from cavendish and about 45 minutes to Charlotte town. This property has defiantly made me a true lover of PEI and will defiantly be back! The house has the true island charm and feel that a hotel just can't provide and also for the price you can't beat it.

Annandale Farm House is a five minute drive from a lovely beach at Cousin's Shore, and another three minutes to the Ann of Green Gables Museum. Located near the top of one of the rolling hills in the area, there is a spectacular view from the front porch looking out over the farm fields and tree lines into the church steeple village of Long River.
