About christine filiberto
Ted is a retired widower and lives on the east coast of Florida, near Cape Canaveral. He has three adult children, who live in the same area, five grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. His daughter, Chris Filiberto, owns Chrissydale Cottage just across the drive from the farmhouse. The two of them come to PEI in the spring to prepare the vacation homes for occupancy in the summer. Chris has taken over the duties of property management beginning in 2017
christine filiberto purchased this House in 1991
Why christine filiberto chose Queens County
My wife, Ann, and I had seen the Anne of Green Gables movie and were impressed by the beauty of the island. We came to PEI on vacation, and began looking for a summer place. The moment we saw Annandale we knew it was for us. The Victorian architecture fit the island perfectly. The history of this property is very interesting as it was used on many occasions for field days back in the late and early 1900s. Lucy Maude Montgomery came and visited here many times.
What makes this House unique
The peaceful seclusion of the location makes for a wonderful family vacation, and then there is easy access to an excellent beach at Cousins Shore, to entertainment at Cavendish, and to shopping and restaurants at Kensington and Summerside. Charlottetown is about 45 minutes away and offers fine dining, theatre, confederation center, museums, and a casino which has a poker room.

The farm house was just as it was pictured.
The farm house was perfect for our family reunion. Everyone who wanted one had their own room. The couples had their own rooms and the singles had a room to themselves. The kitchen was the main meeting place except when it was nice outdoors when we sat outside. We had a bonfire four nights and watched for shooting stars. There were 9 in the house and 2 in a motor home so we had lots for meals. The kitchen was very well stocked but we ran short of toilet paper which one of my sisters came prepared. We left some for the next tenants. The water was great for drinking and we didn't run out of hot water. Long walks in the country were enjoyed by some. This vacation has now moved to the top of the list of my favourite vacations. I would recommend this place to anyone who wanted to get together with a group of 6-10. We travelled to Cavendish, Kensington, Summerside, and Charlottetown where we ate at restaurants and shopped. We tried to go deep sea fishing but high winds prevented that but it is usually available. Whether you go to see the countryside, swim at the beach, shop til you drop, or just relax in the country, it suits every purpose. I hope to go back sometime.
We enjoyed our stay at Annandale Farm. The location is close enough to Cavendish and the beaches. We enjoyed the historic nature of the home and the beautiful yard surrounded by potato fields. The home is very large. We could have had another family stay with our family of 5.
The only downside is that it is a very old house and has the peculiarities inherent in an old house. For example the screens didn't fit well and flies did get in the house.
As long you are up for the beauty of an old home you will be very happy.
Although the location, amongst rolling farm fields, is breathtaking and the house is very spacious--easily accommodating ten---Annandale falls short of being a suitable holiday rental. The house has great potential but has been sadly neglected for decades. Although the cleaning staff do what they are able in the few hours between guest-turnover, there is simply too much "old dirt" and disrepair to contend with, and the house is full of the owner's personal clutter, most notably in the side entry area. The beds were nice and clean, and the showers are fine. The caretaker is a lovely man who came twice to repair the front doorknob and the stove. Perhaps if one is able to view the cracked ceilings, chipped paint and peeling wallpaper in every room as 'shabby chic' then you could be fine here. This, however, was not the case for us as cleanliness is a deal-breaker. Considering we had already paid up front, we made the best of our weeks' stay here. This review will come as no surprise to the owner as I have already put these concerns to her, in writing. The property is for sale and some furniture has already been removed.
Gail and girls
I am sorry to hear the Annadale farmhouse was not up to your expectations.
When I contacted you to see how things were going you made me aware that you were concerned about "old dirt". I sent out our housekeeper the next morning to evaluate the situation. I believe she tried to make things better for your comfort. It seems that your concern was about the overall maintenance of the structure, ceiling, and walls. This house is 180 years old and is indeed in need of some maintenance such as cracked ceiling paint and years of ground in wear and tear. We make sure it is clean and sanitary, and all the bedding and linens are fresh and clean, and the kitchen is cleanly equipped. We are working on the wear and tear issues of this vintage farmhouse.
Although most of our reviews focus on the positive aspects of this house we do take into consideration any legitimate negative reactions and do our best to improve each year. We will be painting and cleaning in between the cracks to give a better overall appearance. We will also remind people that this home sits privately in the midst of a farmland valley and may be subject to dust blowing in from the plowing of the potato fields which surround it. Our housekeeper is minutes away if there is any cleanliness issues. We are always prompt in addressing housekeeping issues, as you experienced, and we do our best to address sincere issues of cleanliness which have rarely been mentioned over the last 28 years of renting out Annadale.
The house is not maintained well
The house is big, the price is fair. But the house is not maintained well. The stove does not work properly. There are lots of cockroaches in the house!
I appreciate your review but do have to clarify your statement about cockroaches.
There are NO cockroaches in Prince Edward Island. What you may have experienced are cellar beetles which have been invading many places located within the farmland area homes in PEI.These beetles are harmless and do not carry diseases that are associated with cockroaches. They do not bite and do not climb
but lay still mostly on the floors. I have put in hand held vacuums for getting them up as I realize many people may fear them. They do not get into furniture or bedding as they come through the doors or window cracks. This year and last year were particularly bad seasons of these beetles, but many of our guests did not see any at all!. We will have the houses treated for these insects prior to the season next year.
The maintenance issues of the home are also being addressed and taken care of between seasons.
From the first conversation with the gracious owner to the first glimpse of the farm house it was lo
The Annandale Farm House was everything I'd hoped for on our second PEI adventure. Comfortable, nostalgic and spacious, it was more than accommodating of our large family. Games, bedding, and countless little wonders abounded. Christina, the owner's daughter who was staying in the nearby cottage was delightful and quick to respond to any minor concerns, as was the friendly, competent caretaker. The location was pleasantly central to the many beautiful attractions of the Island: extraordinary beaches, wild lupine everywhere, a quilt of rolling fields in reds, greens and golds...a little bit of heaven on earth. The house was vintage but simultaneously up to date in all the important ways: laundry facilities, internet, and all the kitchen and barbeque equipment anyone could need. I am longing to return soon.
Exactly what we wished for and dreamed of,,,
Nine of us, including five adults and four children, stayed at this charming and gorgeous piece of literature during the middle of August and to a person on the final day agreed if there was any way to purchase this farm house, we should. To not do so would would have been considered wasteful in our opinion, but extremely opportunistic for anyone who loved the property as much as we did during our vacation. Contrary to what I read one reviewer on here say in an itemized fashion, we found every thing to our liking and wouldn't or couldn't have asked for more. Both levels of the house were immaculate, the kitchen was huge and well stocked with every utensil and appliance you could want. The living room and adjacent parlour exuded Victorian motif, as did the beautiful sitting room on the second floor. The pantry area, complete with dry goods bins of yesteryear, was spacious. The front yard, protected by a number of huge, shady trees only accentuated the peacefulness of the moment,,,whether you were grilling at any time of the day, or just relaxing on the porch or in lawn chairs on the well kept grounds. This is why we selected this as our vacation destination, not because there were theme parks or water slides within a stone's throw of one another. And sure, there are plenty of golf courses, tennis courts and fine restaurants within a short driving distance, but again, we weren't looking for Myrtle Beach or Disneyworld.
And a special word of thanks to the owner Ted Moorhead, who through his descriptive online narrative and helpful emails and phone calls, helped make our decision a little simpler.
Thank you sir!
What a joy to hear from guests who had such a wonderful Prince Edward Island experience, with Annandale Farm House as their vacation home.
Annandale Farm House is a five minute drive from a lovely beach at Cousin's Shore, and another three minutes to the Ann of Green Gables Museum. Located near the top of one of the rolling hills in the area, there is a spectacular view from the front porch looking out over the farm fields and tree lines into the church steeple village of Long River.
