Remarkable value for a remarkable space

  • 5 of 5

We two families shared Claudette's Gore Mountain cabin for a long weekend last week. it was our first time there but not we hope our last. Claudette was flexible and accommodating when were arranged our stay, and her local contact answered the phone quickly to help guide us when we arrived in the dark, and when we called subsequently for information about the area. The cabin is 10 minutes from the Gore Mountain gondolas, on a secluded hilltop crowned with birch, pine, and maple. It is a beautifully crafted structure that would not be out of place in Sun Valley or Aspen, filled with light from a monumentally windowed southwest wall. The quality of the workmanship is exemplary : there are no sticky doors, cranky locks, drafty windows, dodgy electric switches or creaky stairs. Its six well-appointed bedrooms and two common areas allow kids to have their own space separate from adults. The beds are excellent. The kitchen is packed with every possible vessel and utensil from griddle to fondue forks, and clearly organized so that we could rapidly find what we needed to cook up a series of great meals. Previous guests left the pantry well stocked with essential spices and basic condiments. We appreciated how dog-friendly the owner is, and how neat and clean we found the space when we arrived. An accommodation providing this much space and this level of comfort for this price is a remarkable value.

Well built, well kept, generally lovely

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Claudette's property for a long weekend. There were originally supposed to be about 7 of us, but we dwindled down to 4 by the time we arrived. There is definitely room in the house for 8-10 people. We found everything about the house pretty much perfect: the kitchen is incredibly well-equipped (a waffle-maker!); the roomy living-dining room is cozy; the beds were comfortable; everything was clean. One of us stayed behind each day to work at the sunny kitchen table and go for long walks with the dog. The road the cottage is on has very little traffic, and hooks up with other roads with little traffic, so even with snow on the ground we could take long walks. The other guests went skiing at Gore, and were thrilled with how close it was. They also found a place to rent skis in Wevertown--also only a short distance away. The managers had everything in tip-top shape in the house; if anything, it was too warm. We turned down the heat :).

We absolutely recommend this cottage! But please don't book it up so that we can't get a weekend next year.

Quiet, peaceful, and relaxing

  • 5 of 5

This was our first stay in this home. We throughly enjoyed ourselves with our 2 dogs. The house is very accommodating with plenty of room. It was clean and well equipped for cooking. We were both able to relax with no alarm clocks or daily demands. The dogs were even able to chill, for the location is very private and the only thing to bark at was the flag outside the front door. Definitely a winter favorite getaway.

Awesome Experience

  • 4 of 5

We loved the chalet the moment we pulled into the snow-laden driveway. The beds were comfortable and the place was roomy and yet cozy. Everything we needed was provided. It was clean and well supplied. I would recommend this to anyone.

Great house in the woods

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying in this delightful house last week. It accommodates big groups so easily. We hiked in the Crane Mountain area, then enjoyed the cozy comfort back at the cabin. We lit a fire in the living room stove for extra coziness. Everything in order, very commodious. I hope to be back again many times. Betsy Vivas

Fall days near Gore Mountain

  • 5 of 5

We just spent several delightful days at this lovely house near Gore Mountain. In the evenings we had a cheery fire in the living room stove. The house lends itself easily to big groups (we had ten for dinner). We loved the relaxed atmosphere. We had a great hike at nearby Crane Mountain. Betsy Vivas
