About Jeffrey & Ellen Taylor

My wife & I grew up in the hustle & bustle of New Jersey/New York City. we rented the home once a year & when it went on the market, we jumped at the opportunity to buy. We hope you enjoy the Chalet as much as we do.

Why Jeffrey & Ellen Taylor chose Adirondacks

This Chalet is right in the middle of the action. You have all the ski areas ,Schroon lake to the north, Lake George to the south, Lake Placid one hour north, white water rafting on the Hudson, hiking trails all around, fine restaurants at Lake George. The Chalet is hidden on 10 acres of solitude. It's a home away from home

What makes this house unique

We fell in love with the chalet because there are no real neighbors.

Perfect for us!

  • 5 of 5

Great secluded spot for my wife and me and our two pooches. We found excellent hiking and Mt. Biking at nearby Gore Mt. Even though one of the day's was a rain out, we found plenty to do in the cabin with all the games and books. The kitchen had everything we needed and we loved the countertops. All in all a great stay! highly recommended.

Wonderful experience and close to Lake George

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for 3 nights with couple of friends and kids. It was a great place for families get together. It is well maintained and had enough parking space. Experienced home in woods. It is not too far from Lake George which makes best use of time. Not much traffic. Did not get a chance to hike, looks like there is a small stream next to the home.

Quick response from the manager with all the instructions.

We will definitely recommend this. And looking forward to visit this winter.

Remarkable value for a remarkable space

  • 5 of 5

We two families shared Claudette's Gore Mountain cabin for a long weekend last week. it was our first time there but not we hope our last. Claudette was flexible and accommodating when were arranged our stay, and her local contact answered the phone quickly to help guide us when we arrived in the dark, and when we called subsequently for information about the area. The cabin is 10 minutes from the Gore Mountain gondolas, on a secluded hilltop crowned with birch, pine, and maple. It is a beautifully crafted structure that would not be out of place in Sun Valley or Aspen, filled with light from a monumentally windowed southwest wall. The quality of the workmanship is exemplary : there are no sticky doors, cranky locks, drafty windows, dodgy electric switches or creaky stairs. Its six well-appointed bedrooms and two common areas allow kids to have their own space separate from adults. The beds are excellent. The kitchen is packed with every possible vessel and utensil from griddle to fondue forks, and clearly organized so that we could rapidly find what we needed to cook up a series of great meals. Previous guests left the pantry well stocked with essential spices and basic condiments. We appreciated how dog-friendly the owner is, and how neat and clean we found the space when we arrived. An accommodation providing this much space and this level of comfort for this price is a remarkable value.

Well built, well kept, generally lovely

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Claudette's property for a long weekend. There were originally supposed to be about 7 of us, but we dwindled down to 4 by the time we arrived. There is definitely room in the house for 8-10 people. We found everything about the house pretty much perfect: the kitchen is incredibly well-equipped (a waffle-maker!); the roomy living-dining room is cozy; the beds were comfortable; everything was clean. One of us stayed behind each day to work at the sunny kitchen table and go for long walks with the dog. The road the cottage is on has very little traffic, and hooks up with other roads with little traffic, so even with snow on the ground we could take long walks. The other guests went skiing at Gore, and were thrilled with how close it was. They also found a place to rent skis in Wevertown--also only a short distance away. The managers had everything in tip-top shape in the house; if anything, it was too warm. We turned down the heat :).

We absolutely recommend this cottage! But please don't book it up so that we can't get a weekend next year.

Lake Placid, Lake George, Schroon Lake, Ft. Ticonderoga are popular day trips from the Chalet.
