Great location for some isolation and family time
A basic bach in a beautiful setting
The road to the bach is not for the faint hearted! But a gorgeous private beach, good tramping and peace and quiet certainly made up for it.
A new bed in the master would make for a much better sleep and a couple of lamps in the living area would mean you didn’t need the big top light blazing whilst relaxing in the evenings.
Overall it was good value and I would recommend
Disconnect, relax and enjoy.
If you want to step back from your busy life, disconnect and unwind then this is the special wee spot for you.
We had a wonderfully stay over the week before Easter. The bay is beautiful and has a lovely wee surf break - we hope to return in the summer to really enjoy it. The beach is a short stroll from the Shearer's Quarters with many four legged friends to chat to along the way.
The accommodation is warm and comfortable with everything you need. It isn't "flash" but you really don't notice.
Our hosts were so lovely and helpful, we felt very welcome.
What to take - your own pillows, a torch for night time toilet trips, a pack of cards and a book or four.
So, if sitting outside in the sun with a good book, a cup of tea and time to watch the Fantails play in the cabbage trees sounds like you then Goughs Bay is your destination - Classic Kiwi holiday bliss.
Superb location. Fantastic owners. Great for a weekend getaway or even longer.
lovely quiet getaway
This is a traditional Kiwi bach on a working farm. Very quiet, great to relax and re-connect with family or friends. It's got all the basics, but nothing you don't need :-) Friendly and helpful owners.
Perfect three days.
We had a wonderful time staying at the bach. The hosts were outstanding. This was exactly what we needed...beautiful scenery, private beach, lots of seal pups for the children to see. My favourite part was no wifi and service which meant our six children had to play board games and actually have conversations and didn't feel the need to keep checking their devices. Back home now and everyone has their heads down on their phones.
