About Barbara Elborn
We live at the Bastle next door to the farmhouse, Yethouse has been our home since 2000. The farmhouse has been a self-catering property since 2009 and since that time we have welcomed loads of friends and families as well as many 4 legged friends! Our occupancy is well over 75%, the house is popular for those who want an off the beaten track experience with mod cons. We look forward to welcoming you to stay and experience a beautiful part of the country often overlooked which is part of its charm!

Why Barbara Elborn chose Newcastleton
It is off the beaten track but still close to all the village amenities; village shops, the post office, the pubs, cafes and restaurants but its people that make places and our Copshaw folk are truly the best people you are ever likely to meet.
What makes this Cottage unique
Yethouse is a rural, peaceful idyll with stunning views from any direction. A place where you can truly recharge your batteries and spend time together doing things that create memories to look back on and enjoy.

A traditional house in a fabulous location. The house was very clean, well presented and comfortable. We have stayed in many different Home Away holiday homes and this one was exceptional (it had comfortable sofas which is so important and so often overlooked by owners- it makes a difference).
We were welcomed by Barbara who helpfully explained about the ins and outs of the house and was just next door if we needed her. We were given our privacy though so no problem there.
If you are looking for peace and quiet and/or the outdoors life, this is the place for you. We had a wonderful time and will be back.
Already planning our return!
We have always wanted to discover wonderful Northumberland, so glad our adventure started with the Yethouse. Barbara was on hand with a weather update whilst we traveled, and there to greet us on our arrival. The house was everything the pictures promised and much more, fully equipped with everything you need for a self catering holiday.
Barbara gave us lots of information about the local area and beyond, suggesting places to visit and local shops for essentials like the butcher for amazing pies!
We had great days out birdwatching, walking and visiting gardens and even a distillery. We had great weather most days but even on the couple of rainy days we got out and about. Kielder forest is nearby for good walks and wildlife watching, we were lucky enough to spend some time in a hide watching playful red squirrel.
We are now looking to return in the autumn to see the amazing dark sky. We will be booking a place at the Kielder Observatory and hoping the Yethouse will once again be our cosy base.
Thanks Barbara and Paul for providing a fantastic, well thought out house for us.
Wow. Thank you for taking the time to post a review for us. Much appreciated. Delighted you found everything you needed and the house proved such a great base for all your adventures. We look forward to welcoming you back in the Winter for Dark Skies. That too will be an amazing experience. Best wishes to all. B
Such a lovely cottage in a stunning location. Perfect for a weekend with friends and their babies.
The house had everything we needed and felt really homely.
Thank you, delighted you all had a lovely weekend. Look forward to welcoming you back. B
Yethouse Christmas Weekend
This was our third time staying at the charming Yethouse. Each time we have visited we have had a very warm welcome from Barbara. The children throughly enjoyed staying at the Yethouse and it was very festive with Christmas decorations and lights.
Staying at the Yethouse allows the family to escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and enjoy cosy nights by the log fire.
We can't wait to visit again.
Thank you for posting. It was lovely to see you all again. I particularly love to hear how the children enjoyed their trip to Winter Wonderland and what Santa did! Lovely to hear their excitement. Thank you for coming. Happy New Year to all. B
What a pleasure of a cottage!
We stayed for 4 nights, 2 parents, 2 grandparents and 3 autistic children, and we were all thoroughly relaxed.
So peaceful and the stars at night were amazing.
The shops were near by but not too close. The children enjoyed the local park and we had some lovely forest walks, beautiful autumnal colours and frozen ponds.
The beds and furniture were clean and comfortable, with a huge range of books, games, dvd's and cd's we had everything we needed to just hibernate and the welcome lemon drizzle cake was delicious.
Many thanks Barbara, we look forward to visiting again.
Aww thanks guys, it was a pleasure to have you. Delighted you all left rested and rejuvenated. Looking forward to the return trip. Best wishes B
