Orchard Cottage is centrally located in South Devon's most picturesque village
Orchard Cottage in Stokeinteignhead was originally part of an 18th Century coach house which has recently been tastefully renovated into a 2 bedroom cottage. It is centrally located in one of South Devon's most picturesque rural villages, which benefits from close proximity to the coast. This property is ideally suited for either families or couples as it benefits from 1 large master bedroom with en-suite shower room, plus a double bedroom (which can be configured with a super-king size or 2 single beds) and a separate large family bathroom. There is a quirky mezzanine level which can be used as a quiet reading area. On the ground floor there is a high specification kitchen / dining area which includes granite worktops, integrated appliances and solid oak dining table. A great way to end a busy day is to relax in the large cosy lounge with inglenook fireplace, flat screen TV, DVD and Free-sat facilities. The cottage also benefits from unlimited broadband / wifi. There is on-street parking available on the opposite side of the road, directly in front of the cottage; alternatively we have a special arrangement for our guests to have use the public house car park which can be accessed opposite the cottage. This cottage lovely rural retreat is a stones throw from the highly rated village pub and community village shop. Stokeinteignhead is perfectly located for easy access to several beaches on the English Riveria, the South Devon coast path, the rolling hills of Dartmoor and other outdoor activities including several golf courses and horse riding. For those who want some retail therapy you are close to the historic city of Exeter, the market town of Newton Abbot and Torquay harbour.

Why Darin Pound chose Stokeinteignhead
We bought Orchard Cottage in August 2012 as a weekend retreat, however we soon fell in love with the area and moved permanently to the village in August 2014. We decided to let the property so that others can benefit and enjoy the property and area as much as we have.
What makes this Cottage unique
As soon as Darin viewed the property he was adamant we had to buy it. It has history, character and a homely feel.

Orchard Cottage is a beautifully renovated property situated in the centre of the chocolate-box pretty village of Stokeinteignhead. The cottage is comfortably furnished and extremely well equipped for holiday accommodation. There are two large bedrooms, one of which is en-suite, a 'family' bathroom and a downstairs WC, a large and well-equipped kitchen with dining table and chairs and a living room with two settees, tv and music system. All the furnishings and equipment are of good quality.
The cottage is a couple of doors away from the village shop and is opposite the Churchhouse Inn. We dined there on our first night of our holiday and were so impressed we went back three more times in the week.
Stokeinteignhead is quite well placed for exploring the Torbay and south Devon area. During the week we were there we visited the National Trust properties at Greenway (Agatha Christie's holiday home), Coleton Fishacre (D'Oyly Carte), Saltram House, Crompton Castle, Buckland Abbey (Francis Drake's home) and Cotehele in Cornwall. We also took in Buckfast Abbey.
Torquay and Teignmouth and their attractions are both easily reached within a quarter of an hour's driving. We had a trip on the cliff railway at Babbacombe and sampled some football at Plainmoor, Torquay United's splendid ground.
The village itself is quiet which makes for a restful holiday. The occasional sound of the clip-clop of horses' hooves on the road outside the cottage was particularly evocative of an age which has long since disappeared in most places.
I can wholeheartedly recommend Orchard Cottage, the Churchhouse Inn and Stokeinteignhead village.
Dear David and Diane, thank you for your lovely review. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay. Hopefully we will see you again soon.
Many thanks Darin & Lisa
A stay in Devon
The cottage was as advertised; comfortable, well-equipped, great beds, wonderfully located in a beautiful and serene village, with a traditional pub only yards from the front door. The owner was very helpful before and during the stay.
Comfortable and high end.
Very comfortable. Excellent spot for touring the entire area.
WiFi was excellent, however set your mobile up for WiFi calling if your phone is essential whilst indoors.
A real village gem
This property was exactly as advertised. A magic village location and a five star residence with all the inclusions. The local residents are extremely friendly and have great suggestions for local attractions. Our travelling party was blown away with how cosy and warm the property felt. The sleep experience was great with quality bedding and bath towels. There was a comprehensive property guide with clear instructions that made settling in a breeze.
Heating was cosy and warm. Showers were hot with plenty of pressure.
This property was a real find for us and a highlight of our whole trip.
Do yourself a favour and have a meal in the adjacent pub. A menu that would not be out of place in a silver service restaurant.
Definitely would come back if the opportunity arose.
So glad you enjoyed your stay in the cottage. Thank you for such a lovely review. It was great to meet you all and I hope the rest of your holiday goes well - and you have a safe journey back to Australia. Hopefully we will see you again if your travel plans allow.

A lovely cottage in a charming location
Having stayed recently for 4 nights we would recommend this property to anyone looking for a restful holiday. We really enjoyed our time in the village, we will definitely stay longer next time. The cottage is very well presented, spotlessly clean and well equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay.
On arrival we were left a rather good bottle of red, tea, coffee and a lovely bunch of daffodils! a nice touch from the owners. There is also a great pub opposite, the food is really good, if you fancy a night in we would recommend the chicken bacon and leek pies, fresh everyday from the charming village shop!!!
So glad you enjoyed your stay. Hopefully we will see you again soon.
Lovely cottage could do with a few more cups
Orchard Cottage is ideally located for visiting Dartmoor with its walks and spectacular scenery. Whilst the cottage is based within a rural village it is only a few miles from a number of coastal locations including Teignmouth, Torquay and Shaldon.
