About the property

Farmhouse, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-5)

A Peaceful Sanctuary is a beautifully renovated 1928 farmhouse located on an acre of land, nestled in a 60 yr old walnut grove. We are a working farm with Alpacas, Cashmere goats and chickens. Since we are a working farm raising and selling chickens it does require us to be here to do farm chores. We will be happy to try to work around your schedule to give you your privacy.

We are conveniently located 1 mile off I-5 exit 195A on the Eugene/Springfield border. Just 4 miles from the Uofo A Peaceful Sanctuary is perfect for traveling nurses being 5 minutes from McKenzie-Willamette and walking distance from Riverbend Hospital. Great for visiting family, business meetings, vacations, Duck Games, Graduations, romantic getaways and as an extended stay.

Come treat yourself to total comfort by sleeping on 650 thread cotton sateen sheets and top of the line queen sized beds, one pillow top and the other firm. Each bedroom has new 32' flat screen TV's with Comcast and Showtime, plus air conditioning. A home office is included for your convenience with a computer and high speed internet as well as wifi. The kitchen is fully equipped as well as a washer and dryer.

Much of the house is decorated by local artists work and antiques. The home with two bedrooms, is minutes from The UofO,The Saturday Market, Autzen Stadium Duck games and The Hult Center. The shuttle bus to Duck games is a block away and is the best way to travel to the game. We are close to a mall, theaters, post office and many restaurants, some walking distance away.

Located in the Willamette Valley, we are only an hour to the coast and the Cascade Mts. We are on the edge of town, with the city on one side and the wilderness on the other. It is not located out in the country we are a working micro-farm in the city. With the city growing most places around town are a short drive. Our farm faces the beautiful Coburg Hills and the crystal clear McKenzie River is a 5 minute walk. Swim and raft the River or take that leisurely stroll and watch the river flow.

Each morning you will receive freshly laid eggs by our hens who are naturally fed and free range as well as organic coffee and tea.

A Peaceful Sanctuary sells naturally fed chickens and eggs. Our hens are fed feed with the main ingredient being peas grown in Oregon with no soy/corn or GMO's.

We have our own laying hens as well as raise chickens for sale. We sell many heritage breeds of extinction, exotic breeds as well as 5 egg a week and green egg layers. On our farm lives Fozzie, Frankie and Phantom our Alpacas, 3 goats, Sheila, Rilyn and Westin, a kitty named Merlin and our rescue Chihuahua's Olivia 'Livie', Pepe and Harper.

The farm and animals offer wonderful, heart warming experiences for children and adults a like to carry with them a life time. How could you not fall madly in love with an Alpaca who gives kisses for carrots? Children are always welcome to help me with farm chores, taking care of the animals and collecting the eggs.

If you never have had the experience of being with an Alpaca you are in for a treat. They are the lovers not fighters. My Alpacas are sweet, friendly and passive creatures, guaranteed to melt your heart.

Our rates are $125.00 per night. Over 4 guests an additional $10 per night per adult and $5.00 per night per child, plus state/local hotel tax and cleaning fee. The cleaning fee is $50.00 if the house is left as clean as when you arrived and the towels and sheets to be washed are on the back porch upon departure. Basically, just clean up after yourselves. If additional cleaning is needed it is at $25.00 an hr. For our guests with sensitivities please refrain from wearing perfume or cologne when staying at my home. About Pam Basilius

It is my intention in opening my home for rent to offer comfort, bring happiness to people and make magical memories for children they will carry with them for a lifetime. Life is so challenging for many especially now. It is my way of creating a business that is green, brings peace to people and gives back to the community.

Pam Basilius purchased this farmhouse in 2000

Why Pam Basilius chose Oregon

The reason I chose to buy my house in this location was because of the beautiful land, views and very quaint, homey house and walking distance to the McKenzie River. It was a happy home with 11 children being raised here and you can tell there was a lot of love. We are a mile off I-5 and 4 miles drive to downtown Eugene. The feel of out in the country but close to everything.

What makes this farmhouse unique

You and your family get to experience farm life. We are 1928 working farm nestled in an old Walnut grove with very old vegetation and flowers. There are hummingbirds that feed daily and live here year round feed. The birds feed off feeders just a few feet from house. We are a 5 minute walk from the beautiful McKenzie River.

One of the Most Charming Homes We've Stayed In Anywhere

  • 5 of 5

We were so happy to have found "A Peaceful Sanctuary", Pam's amazing farm, for a recent 5-night stay with our son and his wife. We are full time travelers, and this turned out to be one of the most charming homes we've stayed in anywhere. The house is so comfortable and warm; wonderful beds, great space for clothes, beautifully decorated, small but very nice bath and shower, great well equipped kitchen with an amazing basket full of fresh eggs provided along with ample basics to allow you to cook wonderful meals. The internet worked well, and it was very convenient to have the washer and dryer and the wonderful outdoor area to sit and reflect in. The picturesque dining room with a large window has a great view out to the backyard allowing one to fully enjoy Pam's beautiful gardens - it is so serene. The Farm inhabitants (alpacas, goats, chicks, and chickens) were welcoming and precious and completely evoke Pam's love for beauty, sustainability, and peace of the internal and external nature.

During our stay our son had a medical emergency (and is now fine), and the Riverbend Hospital is literally right around the corner which turned out to be a saving grace for us as was the kindness, support and understanding of Pam...we are forever grateful. Also, the grounds of the hospital are like a park - very beautifully landscaped including a hiking path that runs along the river, and the close proximity of farm and hospital allowed us to take some enjoyable peaceful walks through the hospital grounds.

Our last few days were filled with the healing environment Pam, her Pups, and farm animals have created and wholeheartedly love to share. We can't recommend "A Peaceful Sanctuary" higher and will look forward to a longer stay next visit to explore Springfield/Eugene further. Thanks so much Pam!

Fabulous Place for a Unique Visit

  • 5 of 5

In need of post surgical rest and recovery, with the sounds of nature, not traffic, both refuge and solace was found at Pam's, A Peaceful Sanctuary.

The quaint house is charming, light filled, clean, and very nicely laid out, the tap water tasted great, the recycling concerns and general terms for occupancy were very well thought out and respectful to all parties and the property. The two bedrooms roomy, with beds that were perfectly situated and very comfortable to sleep in. Every day of our stay was refreshed by soothing cross breezes, and we enjoyed the way the sun flooded the home's interior, the way the dappled sunlight played through the canopy of the property's lovely trees, and loved everything about the place as it provided just the right kind of comfort as we found ourselves enjoying both the home and the outdoors.

Observing the animals going about their daily routines was very enjoyable, from watching the chickens going about their scratching and pecking as they meandered hither and yon in their fenced area, to the quiet dignity of the Alpaca and goats as they observed every thing every where, every day, to the very friendly and sweet little pups who were happy to welcome other friendly beings to their home environment.

Pam Basilius is an outstanding hostess; professional, hospitable, knowledgeable, friendly, fair, caring in terms of what she knows she is providing to her guests so their stay is enjoyable, while never forgetting the necessary balance commitments required by her farm so her animals continue to thrive as they live out their cozy little lives in the best enclave possible with as little disruption to their normal routines as is possible. We found her to be a compassionate person in every way and on every level and recommend her highly. We hope to visit again. Fran Price and Jan Denney Price

A wonderful gem,

  • 5 of 5

We came in search of quality time with Alpacas and other farm animals and found so much more. A beautiful, comfortable house, proximity to a beautiful river , eggs gathering and a garden that is a work of art. Pam was a wonderful host and she alowed my son to spend as much time as he wanted with Fozzie, the sweetest alpaca in creation!
