About Chris King
Retired photographer from London living here in Puglia for a taste of the good life. Owned and worked in photographic studios for 40 years, specialising in still life, food, landscapes, and people. I spent my first year renovating the main trullo house, with the studio trullo about to be converted to sleep 4 people. This year has been totally taken up by builders. Towards the end of the year I am planning to start short course photographic holidays in the early and later months of the year. I have started to make my own olive oil which tastes wonderful, so plenty of help will be needed for the olive harvest in November to December. This year I produced 350 litres of extra virgin oil which you can taste when you visit the house. Puglia is truly a gardeners paradise: stick it in the ground and it grows. While you are here help yourself to the fruit vegetable growing in my garden! At over 40 degrees C in summer and moderate winters I have fallen in love with the place. I'm sure you will too!!
Chris King purchased this Chateau / Country House in 2015
Why Chris King chose Ostuni
This property caught my eye after looking at some 40 different houses. Some are just a pile of stone and others are complete. This one was totally different and of course the vegetable garden was a must. A short hop to Ostuni or Carovigno for shopping, and beaches are all within 15 min drive.
What makes this Chateau / Country House unique
Traditional style with modern equipment. Great outdoors with pool, pizza oven and sun terraces. Quiet, private location, but near to a beautiful city.

A week in Puglia
The Trulli was perfect place for myself, wife and our 18 month old daughter to spend a relaxing week in Puglia.
The property was full of character and a wonderful swimming pool we enjoyed immensely.
Set in a rural location it was in easy reach of supermarket etc and great area to base yourself in to visit the highlights of Puglia.
Chris was the perfect host
Love the place it was so perfect and Chris was so nice and helpful
A bit dissapointing
This property did not live up to my expectations as there was inadequate air conditioning and the general maintenance of the property was lacking
The owner Chris was however a wonderful host and tried very hard way beyond what was expected to accommodate us with several problems that we incurred whilst there
For the price I paid I did expect more attention to detail
Also a warning to future guests in August there are a lot of mosquitoes !
Ideal for family getaway
Located in a quiet spot yet within easy reach of Ostuni and coastal towns/beaches. A very characterful property with a somewhat bohemian feel about it and a terrific pool area. Chris is a very friendly host with plenty of advice and recommendations. We all really enjoyed a week's stay with extended family, taking advantage of some of Chris' restaurant and visit recommendations.
Lovely and relaxing
We had a lovely time at this property. Plenty of space for the 10 of us in the two trulli. We spent many hours in the fabulous pool. It was lovely being able to eat outdoors at the large table. Chris is a very friendly and knowledgeable host.
A wonderful Trullo with character and a lovely swimming pool
We returned from Ostuni last week and wish we could be back there. We had a wonderful stay. The place was beautiful, so peaceful but not far from Ostuni town. The accommodation was perfect for us, full of the owners character and very spacious. Chris was a great host and was full of recommendations. The swimming pool was wonderful.
Enjoy your stay in Trullo Grotta Piccola, a mixture of an original Puglian house but with all mod cons! Newly renovated the house offers complete privacy set in 1.5 hectares of olive groves, is not overlooked, and has a 12 x 6 meter salt water pool set in the landscaped garden.
In July & August temperatures soar into the 40's, so you can laze away around the pool or find a shaded spot in the olive grove.
Make your own pizza's in our woodfired pizza oven or slip into Ostuni, the "Citta Bianca", historical centre, climb to the top and take your pick from the many bars, restaurants, quaint arched osterias, cocktail bars and taste the Italian hospitality.
The house is in reach of many small hilltop towns which are ideal places to wind away the time sightseeing, and photo opportunities are around every corner: cathederals, basilicas and tiny chapels a plenty.
Antique markets held every Sunday in different towns close to us. Saturdays Ostuni market is not to be missed but 12.30 lunch time it over so get up early. About an hour away is Lecce with Roman ruins and a beautiful "centro storico" , an ideal place to drink very strong expresso or try local tiny cakes that just melt in the mouth washed down with cold local white wine or beer . Further afield is Gallipoli with wonderful beach front on the Golfo di Taranto. More photo opportunities or just sunbathe and swim. If you love eating fish go no further than the nearest beach, where fresh fish is caught every day served on the bbq. Octopus is big in Ostuni and sea urchin are not to be missed (they taste a lot better than they look). How ever long or short your stay there is plenty to do and see here in Puglia for both both kids and adults alike .
