Lake Tahoe North Shore Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 9)

The Alpenview Tahoe House is a restful retreat for family and friends. It is a perfect place for leaving behind the pressures of everyday life in warm cabin ambiance. The glorious lake view is enjoyed from all the open public rooms, the downstairs bedrooms and the expansive wrap-around deck. Situated above the lake on the North Shore, you can wake to the sunrise mirrored in beautiful Lake Tahoe and relax on the deck at the end of the day as the alpine glow of the evening sunset reflects off the mountains in the background.

Tranquil and convenient, it is ideally located for year-round vacation and recreation. Situated between Tahoe City and Kings Beach, in the summer you can enjoy rafting down the Truckee River, wind-sailing over the Lake, mountain biking and easy hikes on the adjacent trails, or enjoy the beach just down the hill. Winter recreation is also close - North Star, Alpine Meadows, Squaw Valley - all 15 to 20 minutes away - or cross-country ski in Tahoe National Forest from multiple trail heads within walking distance of the front door.

Awesome weekend retreat

  • 4 of 5

I went up with a group of girlfriends to celebrate my 40th birthday. It was a perfect retreat for us. Amazing location, the views are beyond breath taking. The décor is "kitchy" which we found to be adorable. Comfortable home with everything you could need for a weekend away from home. We spent our evenings on the deck, which is where you'll want to spend most of your time. Looking forward to the next stay!

Very basic

  • 1 of 5

The 2 brothers handling the property are very efficient, friendly, and nice. The views are beyond gorgeous from the deck and the deck table, chairs, umbrella are very nice. The cabin has lots of books, guidebooks, giant map, TV-dinner trays, placemats. You do feel like you are staying at someone's home, which is nice. The location is just perfect in a nice neighborhood, plenty of parking. The cabin is big as it has 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, dining, living, and kitchen.

The cabin is badly insulated so it gets really hot during the day and freezing cold at night. The décor is very outdated and it needs a major refreshing. The bedding is old and musty and smells funny. The couch and armchairs are really, really old and stained. The carpet is old and looks very dirty.

The kitchen and bathrooms are very old but looked clean. The toaster oven worked badly and the oven did not work. The dishwasher and the stove worked fine.

The biggest problem was that there were mice in the cabin and it was really disgusting to find mice droppings every single morning by the kitchen. The owners were contacted about this but ignored this issue.

All in all, if you are looking for an old, basic cabin with an amazing view in a very quiet and safe neighborhood that would fit a large family, this is the cabin.

Owner's Response: Everyone has a right to an opinion. We all have different life experiences that shape our individual expectations. That being said some opinions presented by the reviewer beg to be addressed. We respectfully provide information on a few of the reviewer’s statements. Our decision to not address all expressed opinions does not constitute agreement. Clean bed linens had been put on the beds immediately prior to the reviewers visit. Evidence of the reviewer’s dogs being allowed on the couch and beds contrary to policy may indicate the source of purported smells. Since the reviewer’s stay two rental parties containing professional chefs entertained at our cabin. No complaints about kitchen appliances were received from either of these two parties or any of the other rental parties. We maintain rodent bait stations in strategic locations in the cabin inaccessible to pets. We thoroughly inspected all rodent bait stations prior to the reviewer’s arrival. Our inspection did not find any mice sign. The reviewers notified us they found mammal droppings and stated they set traps near the mammal evidence. They also stated their traps had not been tripped. We employed a pest abatement professional. The inspection of the cabin identified the interloper as being a bat. Our efforts to identify and remedy any and all mammal entry sites have proved completely successful. We endeavor to provide a clean, pleasant and restful environment for all of our paying guests. A perusal of the vast majority of the reviews on our cabin reveals that we are achieving our objectives.

Family Get Away

  • 4 of 5

The spectacular lake views from this property are remarkable. Our family had a great time here and hope to return again. Home is clean and well equipped. Everything in the home "works". No surprises. Very relaxing sitting on the deck or in the living room. This is an older home, so don't set your expectations for the most up to date accommodations. This is a cabin, after all. That being said - the teenagers in the family loved the strong wifi signal and were quite pleased. Owners were prompt and easy to work with, in preparation for the stay.

Fantastic views, sunny deck and a quiet location make this cozy retreat a perfect getaway. Walk to trail heads for hiking or biking. Just minutes by car from North Shore towns and attractions. Owners are friendly and extremely accommodating. Really enjoyed our stay.

Gorgeous views, peaceful, and great location

  • 5 of 5

My family stayed here for our first visit to Lake Tahoe this past summer. The setting was fantastic, the cabin was comfortable, inviting and offered incredible views from throughout the house and from the deck. Easy walk to trails and short drive to shopping. We grilled out every evening and ate dinner on the deck while enjoying the incredible views and sipping wine. The wood burning fireplace adding extra charm. The owner was very helpful and courteous to us throughout the whole time leading up to our arrival. We had a remarkable time and this place really captured our hearts.

The pictures are accurate! When we arrived, we weren't sure what to really expect. As soon as we walked in, there was this amazing view! Floor to ceiling windows so you can enjoy the heavenly views of the tips of the trees and gorgeous lake. The weather was perfect so we were able to star gaze on the large back deck. Plenty of room and super comfortable. Bathrooms and kitchen were clean, which makes a city woman very happy. We were close to town, yet nestled away from it all. We will definitely return to this cabin. Thank you for an awesome getaway!
