About The Owner

Outgoing and friendly couple living on Glasgow Southside with our beautiful daughter and son. A perfect location for us - surrounded by amazing architecture, 8 minutes from the city centre and 5 minutes from some of the largest parks in Europe. We both like to work hard during the week and relax at weekends. Glasgow is our beloved city, a magical combination of culture and people, yet near the coast and hills. We love the outdoors, dogs, walking, cycling, family time and eating out.

Why The Owner chose Glasgow

We fell in love with this house as soon as we saw it. It has the perfect combination of Victorian Period features and modern comfort.

What makes this house unique

The house has stunning views from the floor to ceiling windows in the huge Drawing Room. It looks over the gorgeous back garden and coach house. The Master Bedroom has 2 windows, overlooking the garden and the massive weeping beech tree which is 3 stories high! We have gorgeous stained glass windows, Victorian fireplaces, original bannisters and high ceilings throughout.

For insurance purposes we can not accommodate any more than 12 guests staying in the property and we do not allow guests to invite additional people into the property during their stay. Since we have a neighbour in the basement flat and live in a quiet residential area, we also ask that guests keep noise to a minimum at certain times of the day (before 7am and after 10.30pm) both inside and outside. Please note that the house isn't suitable for parties or events, loud music etc. There is no smoking in the house but you are welcome to smoke in the front garden which has a seating area. With an old Victorian house comes a lot of stairs! Guests should note that there are two initial steps going up to the front door and further stairs within the property as it is set across three floors. While there is the option of a bedroom on the ground floor, the bathroom and formal lounge are upstairs. If guests have any concerns about layout or potential mobility issues, please contact us.

Excellent house

Everything we needed was there for for us, very child friendly, all the children enjoyed playing with some different toys... not to mention the adults.

Thanks for accommodating the early arrival of some of us,

Comfortable accommodation , convenient transport links

  • 5 of 5

Had a lovely stay with friends at this house. Quiet location but very easy to get to the city centre via train or bus. Lovely wood burning fire for cosy winter evenings and plenty of room to lounge. All basic essentials were provided however only a short walk to the convenience shop. Nice views and fresh scenic walks in the locality in addition to plenty of nearby cafes etc.

Lovely comfortable home

  • 5 of 5

This house was perfect for our weekend with extended family, including grandchildren. Lisa and Darren met us as arranged and gave us a thorough tour, explaining anything we needed to know. The house was lovely and spacious, yet comfortable, particularly the beautiful upstairs sitting room which had plenty of seating for everyone, and Lisa was happy to allow our little ones to play with their children's toys, which made the stay so easy. Beautifully clean and Lisa had asked us which beds we would need to use so everything was ready for us. We were at a wedding, so didn't cook much, but did do a couple of cooked breakfasts and didn't find any problem with the cooker, as some people have mentioned. We found Lisa and Darren to be really generous hosts and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful home ..but expect to be silent for your stay.

  • 3 of 5

The house was clean and beautiful.I booked for the total of 12 people. The description said there was a tenant in the basement. We were told on arrival the tenants bedroom was on the main floor next to the hallway/kitchen so we had to be extra quiet .There was an old cook stove that we were discouraged to use.It took an hour to heat up and temperature could not be regulated. The oven was not available. The washer took hours to wash and the dryer did not work. We ate out for all meals and used a 1-burner cook top for breakfast for all of us. It was hard for 12 adults to be quiet while on holiday.

Owner's Response: Hi Sheena, thank you for taking the time to leave a review. While we do have noise regulations in place for our property, this is something which we strive to give guests full notice of prior to the booking of their stay. We offer our home up as a calm retreat from the hustle and bustle of Glasgow City, whilst still being less than 8 minutes to the city centre. These rules are in place both to respect our neighbour who occupies the separate basement level of the plot (and is understandably sensitive to noise in the high-traffic areas of the floor above), but also to respect the peaceful nature of the family neighbourhood in which our property sits. The rules regarding noise are noted both in our listing, guest contract and are further confirmed via email prior to check-in. With regards to the stove: Our Aga is somewhat of a traditional feature in Victorian houses such as ours, although we understand that visitors from overseas in particular may not be accustomed to their use. For this reason we have decided to replace the Aga stove with a more modern gas cooker which shall be fitted in the coming weeks.

Beautiful home and hosts that understand kids

  • 5 of 5

We were a group of college friends that included 4 children under 5 years of age. The house was beautifully decorated with lots of light and space. We were met by one of the home owners who gave us an incredibly through tour and thought of everything (we felt like we were staying at a high-end hotel). At the same time they understood children and were incredibly willing to share toys and understanding of the needs of children. Both the children and adults loved the space and felt at home.

The house was a couple of train stops from the city center which was a very short trip, under 15 minutes. This was great for the adults traveling without children. For those with children, it's good to know that there's a couple minute walk from the train station to the subway system. Everyone we encounter in the train and subway stations were incredibly helpful and friendly.

We did "take-away" with "Just-eat" a couple of nights, which was delicious and super convenient.

I would say here again and recommend it to others.
