Gorgeous place to stay
Very well equipped in beautiful surrounding - perfect for families and lovely and cosy for a winter stay. Owner was very helpful with requests made - thank you !!!
All the comforts of home!!!
This cozy house had EVERYTHING we needed to explore south central Iceland. The sauna and hot tub were perfect at the end of our adventure filled days. The only problem we had is we did not know that it was located on a loop road and we started out on the wrong leg. Were a bit lost in the dark for just a short while.
fantastic!!!! just wonderful... thanks for great maps and info on laundry...
Much more than we hoped for!
This charming small house was really perfect for our group of 4 adults. It was very clean, and though on the small side, we really just took advantage of being outside. Turns out we were off touring the area so much, we really just slept there! The location in the south was perfect for late night drives to nearby waterfalls, soaking spas and the blacksand beach. Also nearby was a grocery and gas - we were able to cook several meeals in the well equipped kitchen too. Because it was light out 24/7 we found it hard to sleep and took advantage of getting out to see the area, when the tour buses are vacated. The Sauna was easy to use, and we appreciated the hot (really hot) tub too. The only bummer for us was we could not find a way to watch the USA Womens World Cup final on the TV, but hey - we still won! I would recommend this cozy spot for a few couples with kids or a family. The directions, turns out were also spot on.
South Coast Oasis 10 out of 10 would recommend
We spent six nights at this charming location exploring the golden circle. Each day we would drive out about an hour in any direction to the awe inspiring beauty and wonder that is Iceland and return in the evening to relax with everything we needed. The hot tub felt wonderful on sore muscles after a day of trekking. My son enjoyed the sauna. I guess the shower in the sauna room on the deck might be inconvenient in winter but was no issue in June. The property is secluded and while the directions got us right to the correct road we did miss the turn off a couple of times (2nd driveway on the left). The spot was just 10 minutes from Hella but Hvolsvöllur had the better grocery maybe 25 minutes in the other direction. Don't miss Keldur for a free look at Iceland's turf houses. It is on the same loop as this property. Summertime sleeping in the loft will require a sleep mask and unless you are studying the local birds earplugs will be required to eliminate the sound of the midnight feeding of the baby birds. Apparently each of the last several guests have purchased coffee filters. Save yourself the expense, there are plenty of coffee filters. The kitchen had all the basics for meal prep and the gas grill was nice for a couple of meals. Wireless was more than adequate and I had a couple of 20 somethings that live online. Thank you for sharing this wonderful property with us.
The home is beautiful and the property is so tranquil. Arnar is very responsive and helpful. So much care went into preparing for our arrival. This is the first time everything was better than my expectations. The hot tub and sauna are perfect at the end of a full day exploring the beauty of Iceland. We felt like this was a great location- a peaceful, restful oasis, but only an hour drive to the south coast and golden circle and so much in between. I'm usually ready to go home at the end of a trip, but not so this time.
The house is located in the quiet area of Rangarvellir in South of Iceland, approximately 6 km (3,9 miles) from the ring road in Iceland. The village of Hella is only 6.6 (3.9 miles) km from the house with many services among restaurants, swimming pool, pharmacy and all other basic such as a grocery store and a fuel station. Distance to another village, Hvolsvollur, is 15.6 km (9.7 miles). Similar services are available in Hvolsvollur. The house is very well situated for going on daily tours in the South as well as visiting parts of the south highland. In summer you can take a day trip with the highland bus to the hotspring at Landmannalaugar (dep. Hella) or to Thorsmork or drive there directly if you rent a 4x4 SUV.The volcanos Hekla, Eyjafjallajokull, Tindfjallajokull and Westman Islands are partly visible on a clear day from the house or a few meters from the house. Unobstructed Northern Lights are visible from the house from autumn to spring (September-April).
