About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 4-6)

Nothing says 'Vacation' like a cabin in the mountains. Located less than 3 minutes from Main Street in downtown Highlands, this convenient getaway has it all. Life at Camp Carlee is relaxed and inviting; it's warm fires, cool evenings and great memories.

This professionally designed retreat has an open great room with vaulted ceilings, wood beams and stone fireplace. The great room features custom lighting, a flat screen television with DVD player, Bose stereo, and many natural details to make you feel at home. Additionally, it offers dining for six and a spacious living room, which opens onto the screened porch. The well-appointed kitchen and stainless steel gas grill provide the perfect combination for a night of entertaining or a nice meal with the family. For those who prefer some quiet time or like to make the most of a rainy day, choose a book from the library to read in the leather chairs, play board games or browse the wireless internet from any location you choose. This cabin boasts two master suites, each with its own balcony, king-sized bed, LCD/DVD television and private bathroom. Each room features egyptian cotton sheets, warm quilts and down comforters. If additional sleeping space is needed, the queen size sleeper sofa in the great room is also very comfortable.

For the adventuresome, white water rafting, fishing, mountain biking and repelling are close by. If you are in search of an easy day trip, take a hike up to Whiteside Mountain or nearby Glen Falls. For those who appreciate the arts; enjoy the professional summer theatre or the highly acclaimed Chamber Music Festival. Camp Carlee's close proximity to town makes a stroll along Main Street enjoyable for everyone.

After the day's activities, take in a nightcap on the screened porch and enjoy the calm evening surrounded by nature. Whatever you are looking for, you are sure to find it at Camp Carlee.

Also, please be sure to check out our newly renovated sister property, Backwoods Bungalow, on VRBO (https://www.vrbo.com/911634) and Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/BackwoodsBungalowHighlandsNC)! It will be available mid September 2016, just in time to enjoy fall and leaf season!

About Lori Bee

We often find our minds wandering to the mountains of western North Carolina. Although we are not able to spend as much time as we would like in Highlands, that leaves more time available for guests to stay at our cabin. Any time of year is a great time to enjoy the wide range of scenic wonders and events this area has to offer.

Lori Bee purchased this cabin in 2008

Why Lori Bee chose North Carolina Mountains

Our family has been coming to Highlands, NC for years and in 2008 we decided to purchase a property for friends and family to enjoy. We have since opened our cabin to those interested in experiencing the beautiful scenery and breathing in the fresh mountain air. Four distinct seasons and plentiful ammenities allow Highlands, NC to provide something for everyone. From quaint shops and restaurants to numerous outdoor activities; we know that you will have a truly fantastic time here.

What makes this cabin unique

Guestbook comments from the manager

I haven't been back to Highlands since September 2006 when my husband proposed to me. I decided to surprise him with a romantic getaway for Valentines. When I saw your home on VRBO... I know it was the perfect choice. It's beautiful and lacking nothing! I feel completely at home. The decor is perfect. Thank you for opening your home to us! We are thing of making this a yearly trip!

Absolutely Delightful

  • 5 of 5

"Camp Carlee" is an absolutely delightful home-away-from-home. The setting is terrific. The cabin is clean and incredibly well equipped. We loved the spacious screen porch and spent lots of time there unwinding. The owners and/or property managers thought of many, many small touches to make a stay there delightful and comfortable. We did not want to leave!!

We had never heard of Highlands, NC. What a jewel! We are now recommending to everyone that they visit...for the sights, the shopping (!), the restaurants...and for "Camp Carlee." God willing, we will return.

Camp Carly

  • 4 of 5

Camp Carly was the perfect winter get-away. It was a great place to relax with a fireplace (wood provided), comfortable chairs and sofa for big screen TV watching or book reading, a good table for playing games, and a well-equipped kitchen for making snacks and meals. Both ample-sized bedrooms also had their own full bathrooms, which is great, plus a half-bath for daytime. On days it didn't rain, we were close to a lot of places to hike, shops to explore, and restaurants to dine. We were 4 active senior citizens, but ironically we found out afterwards that our friends' daughter and her new husband spent their honeymoon in the same cabin. They loved it too and hope to return on many future anniversaries.

Our only minor complaint was not being able to control the fireplace smoke that permeated the cabin. But it never kept us from enjoying a warm, crackling fire.

Lovely, peaceful weekend...

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Camp Carlee the weekend of the Cashiers Leaf Festival. The cabin was perfect for us (two couples) and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Highlands/Cashiers. The leaves were so pretty! The house was clean and comfortable and well-equipped with cookware, books, magazines and games. We made a fire in the fireplace all three nights and it was cozy as can be! Management was a pleasure to work with as well. Highly recommend!

Great stay at Camp Carlee!

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from a stay at Camp Carlee and had a fantastic time! The house is super cozy and a lot of attention has been put into details to make it a great place for a vacation getaway. The kitchen is extremely well stocked with high quality cookware and any kitchen gadget you could want! The owners also keep a great selection of boardgames, puzzles and movies at the house for entertainment while you are there. Lori, the property manager is also super helpful and was very responsive at all times!

A Perfect Choice for a Highlands Getaway!!!

  • 5 of 5

We were friends & family coming together from different areas to meet in the Highlands for a bit of adventure while also desiring the lodging coziness that a Cabin often affords. When we walked in, we were impressed from the get-go....music was softly playing and low lighting was on providing the perfect ambiance from the first footstep over the threshold. We found the interior to be even better than the photos display, believe it or not. Beds & bedding were superb and the fireplace was utilized every evening before retiring to envelope ourselves in the king-sized luxurious-ness for our slumber. Breakfasts were our main preparations from the kitchen, although we discovered almost everything one would need for more in depth cooking. (Only thing we couldn't locate was a tea kettle). The waterfalls of the area and surrounding areas are truly "awesome" and the hiking is plentiful. Being near civilization but also feeling away from it all simultaneously....was convenient and achieved our desires of "escape." Overall, we fully endorse the Carlee Cabin as a fabulous place to stay....you'll sink right in and have a hard time packing up! A huge shout out of gratitude for allowing our Golden Doodle, Zoe to join in our vacation also!! She was a delight to have along and she respected every moment of being able to be at the cabin by being the best canine steward of her surroundings. Thanks so much for sharing your mountain retreat.
