This cabin was completely remodeled in 2008 to create a four-star hotel quality feel, tucked in the north woods on Bass Lake near Traverse City. The beds and linens are extra comfortable and cozy. The cabin is part of a quaint resort on 5+ acres with 700+ ft of lakefront. Feel free to relax and have a fire on your own private beach or use some of the shared amenities on the property including great fishing spots, sandy recreation areas a large fire pit and the deck dock. This cabin is one of a few remodeled and available for rent as well for larger groups.
Our favorite activities are fishing from the dock or row boats (available for rent), swimming, water skiing, tubing, and going to Boones Long Lake Inn 'Big Deck' for live music, cocktails and great food which is less than 2 miles away. Famous Moomer's Ice Cream is just down the road near long lake for dessert. Our home golf course is 'The Crown', located about 2 miles from the cabin. Of course, in the Traverse area, there are no shortage of things to do or places to see.
My name is Mike Olson. I grew up in Traverse City and now live in Illinios. I enjoy spending time at our cabin with my wife and two kids, ages 14 and 16. I am an information technology professional that travels quite a bit. So far, I've been able to commute out of the Cherry Capital Airport during the summer and spend a lot of time at the lake.
Kathy purchased this cabin in 2007
My wife spent her summers growing up on Bass Lake with her family. Now, several family members own property on the lake including the group that bought this old resort with us. We love being so close to town, and yet looking out on such a seren setting. The kids really enjoy seeing all the wildlife including a family of turkeys, a family of deer, loons, foxes, and all the other Northern Michigan wildlife.
I enjoy fishing for bass or just taking the kids out to fish for bluegills. The evening boat rides around the lake are great, and we waterski every chance we get. Once a week or so we head over to Boones and have dinner on the big deck while enjoying a local singer play some tunes.
We just got back from spending a week at this awesome cottage. The property was nice. a fire ring, a hammock, screenhouse, fishing dock you name it! They had all kinds of items stocked for your convenience. We cooked some great meals there and used the gas grill a few times too. The bed and couch were sooo comfortable, and there were plenty of fans (it was a very warm week) My husband caught a couple of turtles and lots and lots of fish. He was very entertained. Our little dogs were happy to be with us and we are so grateful that they were allowed to come with us on our vacation. Here you are completely in the woodsy outdoors, quiet waterfront, and in just a few minutes you are in town with every store and entertainment imaginable!. I truly hope to stay here again next year. We liked it so much we are planning another Michigan trip over labor day week. Thank you for sharing your lovely cottage!
Charming old fashioned cottage very well equipped and very quiet . Despite some high temps, we were comfortable with just fans because it is so shady.
Note: the lake is very mucky and not much good for swimming.
The big bed is very soft- way too soft for my comfort but fine for my husband who can sleep anywhere. I spent the first night on the sofa and then discovered if I stuffed pillows between the mattress and box spring, I could make it acceptable. The pull out sofa is like a bed of cans.
The photos are accurate. It is very cute with a modern kitchen and has everything you need. Its about 15-20 min. from downtown TC.
Location was great - secluded and quiet yet close to town. Fishing was good. Kitchen was modern, but no oven. Small amenities like a bathmat and teaspoons were missing. Master bed mattress too soft for our tastes. Overall the cabin was nice in that there was cable TV and WIFI, but the property where the old camp used to be needs some maintenance work. Traverse City area is great for families - good swimming in Traverse City bays. Sleeping Bear Dunes was lots of fun. Great wineries on the Leelaneau Peninsula!
My family and I just returned home from a weeks stay at this gorgeous cabin. We had such an amazing time. We vacation in Traverse often and typically stay at the Homestead or a hotel downtown...this is our accommodation of choice from here on out! The pictures do not do it justice! We stayed here with some friends of ours for a total of 4 adults and 2 ten month olds - plenty of space - we were able to comfortably fit a pack n play in each room for the little ones. The cabin was very clean which made it great for the babies to crawl around. Great views of the lake from inside of the cabin as well as a great place to relax on the private beach! We spent several nights out by the lake around the fire pit. We used the gas grill often to make dinner at home. This cabin is so close to Traverse City, grocery stores, restaurants, etc which made it really convenient to run out and grab last minute items for the kiddos.
Love love love this cabin and will definitely be back soon!
My husband & I just spent a week at this cabin on Bass lake & had a wonderful time! The cabin is rustic, but that is part of the charm! Inside, you would find everything you would need for a weeks stay. Flat screen TV, Comfortable bed with nice linens. Double hammock by the lake, with a fire pit for campfires. Owners were very helpful providing everything you need. We would definately stay at this cabin again! May be a little crowded with four people, but with two, it was perfect!
