About Marla Rickloff
It is an absolute privilege for me to own Rock of Ages and to share it with guests! I love the local history of this area, and The Rock is an integral part of the history of the quarry in Marblehead and the founding of Lakeside --The Chautauqua on Lake Erie
Marla Rickloff purchased this House in 2002
Why Marla Rickloff chose Marblehead
We have had a cottage at Lakeside for a number of years and we love this area of Lake Erie! The views are amazing, and it is very relaxing to spend time here.
What makes this House unique

Our second year enjoying this beautiful place with 20+ friends! Plenty of space for everyone, even with lots of cooks in the kitchen. The house is well equipped with everything you could want, and even with the inclement weather and the inability to enjoy the outside, we all left with the desire to come back next year! Thanks for offering such a beautiful place!
Love to have you and your friends back, Christine! I do wish I had the ability to order up beautiful weather for each of my guests :)!! --Marla
A truly remarkable location, historic home with ability to accommodate a large party, and afford privacy at the same time. Multiple en suite arrangements, marvelous kitchen and dining areas, access to the lake and ferry to Kelly’s Island. Our stay could not have been long enough can’t wait to return!
Rock of Ages exceeded our expectations! It is a we’ll appointed spotless property with a manicured lawn, plenty of room to spread out and awesome lake views. The kitchen is equipped with every utensil/dish/pot/pan/appliance you could possibly need. We had a large group from 6 months to 87 years old and everyone was happy with their bedroom. That is a feat in itself. Our entertainment was right out the door. We played lawn games, flew kites, kayaked, caught lots of fish, relaxed in the hot tub and enjoyed watching the Kelly’s Island Ferry and all the boats. The winery at the end of the block had a great outdoor space with live entertainment and plenty of TVs to catch the game, not to mention good wine, beer and a Bloody Mary to die for Marla was very easy to work with and always prompt with her response. She even let us have a late checkout which was greatly appreciated. Everyone agreed that we should come back to the Rock for our next reunion. Why take the chance on being disappointed somewhere else...
We Rocked Reunion
We had an amazing experience. The home had everything we needed for the 31 of us. There was plenty of room. It was an old house but it was very clean and well maintained. We prepared all of our meals. The kitchen was stocked with dishes and pots and pans and towels. We could have lived there comfortably for a long while. I'd like to thank Marla for a wonderful experience. It is a place we would definitely visit again! Thank you for your thoughtfulness.
Loved having all of you, Margo! Rock of Ages IS very old! It was completed in 1861 and is a local historical landmark. Come back any time. The winter views of Lake Erie and the islands are amazing!
Spring Weekend retreat

Sandra, so glad your family enjoyed Rock of Ages's kitchen, beds and views!
I would love to have you all back any time. Summer is awesome, but as you know March has it's own joys!
