Sand Dollar is one of the most premier low density condominium complexes on Sanibel Island, centrally located on Middle Gulf Dr. Our unit is rated “Platinum” the highest rating for desirability, location, amenities, condition, design and décor by the premier island real estate rental agency. The interior has been newly renovated for expansive views and designer decorated in a light Floridian theme. It is a very private, light and airy corner unit with a beautiful view. The complex has a heated pool and tennis courts. It is a wonderful base from which to explore Sanibel's beautiful shelling beaches, nature preserves, waterfowl, fishing, golf courses, bicycle paths, live theatre, and boutiques. Excursions for deep-sea fishing and kayak/canoe/bike rentals are close by as are the island's many delicious restaurants and lovely boutiques and galleries. Local management is available to assure continued quality throughout your stay.

You are never far from all the conveniences, but at Sand Dollar you are millions of miles away from hustle and bustle. If you need to work or stay in touch, we have a computer for your use at a comfortable working station with a High Speed Wi-Fi Internet access also available for your laptop.

We apologize for so few listed.

In the past we have not solicited reviews from our guests because the condo is so well received, it essentially books itself. That may explain the paucity of reviews compared to the number of weeks we book each year.

To that point we've had one guest who stayed with us for a month during the winter of 2011 and since then has booked 3 months each winter.That family is already booked for 3 months in 2015.

We now better understand how reviews can assist those looking for their ideal condo and moving forward we'll do a better job soliciting reviews from our guests. Be forewarned, some people even when asked like to keep a very special secret all to themselves. Enjoy Sanibel! We hope to be able to host you some time in the future.

If you're here for the ocean and the outdoor experience

Lush beautiful property .Must be a great landscapers to carve this out amongst a jungle. Screened in porch with views of the ocean and sound of the ocean with our daily red headed woodpecker visitor and also daily brown bunny visitors.

Great property!

We just came back from Sanibel and this condo was great. We found the place very clean, well equipped and the location quite convenient. It is a perfect place for families looking for quiet time. The BBQ area was functional and worked well. The pool was excellent although the heater was not working for few days.

Dealing with the owners was super easy. We recommend this condo, we would go back anytime!

Family vacation in sanibel

This condo was exactly what we were looking for. It was spotless when we arrived. The pool was nice sized and the entire complex was quiet. The view from the lanai was beautiful. We were given a code to lock & unlock the condo door. Since there were 4 adults we didn't need to worry about keys---made it much simpler. The washer, dryer, & hair dryers were top notch. We had access to the owners closet outside which contained beach chairs, umbrella and toys for the grandkids. Great vacation.

Nice condo but tricky lock and WIFI problems

We spent a week at the condo which was clean and comfortable. We went to Florida for a family wedding and the owner did allow us to arrive on Sunday with a discount since it was a 6 day stay instead of 7. We had difficulty getting into the condo because the WIFI did not work and the lock combo on the push button lock was not reset to the combo we expected. We called the owner and after a few minutes received a call back. We had no WIFI for 3 days and my husband was asked by the owner to try many things to fix the problem which detracted from our family vacation time. Without the WIFI there was very poor cell phone reception, which was very difficult as my father was hospitalized the day we left for our Florida vacation making it difficult to stay in touch with extended family. After the owner worked out with the property keeper to drop off a new modem on the 3rd day of our stay, we had to take more time to initiate the setup of the WIFI, we finallly had WIFI, which took more time out of our vacation. Shortly before we left the condo, (after getting the WIFI set up) my husband got a text that the owner changed the lock combination. The owner did not confirm that we received the text before he changed the door combination. Fortunately we were not at the beach and got the message. The owner offered NO discount for our inconvenience/time away from our vacation, and for helping the owner get the WIFI up and running. It was also uncomfortable to know that the owners discretion we could be locked out of the condo and our belongings/dwelling. Also, there is no local phone service.

Owner's Response: We're sorry that you were inconvenienced by the lack of WiFi during the weekend. As you know, we responded immediately to restore the WiFi service in the condo as quickly as possible. As we discussed at the time, there was always WiFi available to you in the common areas of the condo association, and for emergencies or other use, you did have hotspots on your cellphones as a backup. Unfortunately, once in a while, a hardware component can go bad as the modem did during the initial part of your stay. We very much appreciated your willingness to help troubleshoot the problem, both of us hoping it was simply a “reset” issue. However, it was not . And since the modem belongs to the cable company, we had no choice but to wait until Monday when they opened. We did send our property manager to their offices first thing Monday morning to pick up a new modem and install it. Fortunately you were up and running mid day Monday, so the WIFI was restored in less than 48 hrs. We did all we could to get your service up and running as soon as possible. Regarding the door lock, that was a one time issue. We personalize door codes for each guest for their security. When you had difficulty with your personal code we verbally provided you a back up code to enable you to enter immediately. And when your personal code could again be used we sent you a TEXT message, which, as you indicated, was received by you prior to the time you needed it to enter the condo. We appreciate that during these challenges, you were very positive and worked with us to get the internet up and running as quickly as possible. I want to assure you and other guests reading this response that these problems, while they could happen at any condo any time, are rare, and have not happened before in our condo. And the door system, which provides a high level of security by providing a customized entry code for each guest, always has the back-up option in the rare case that a problem occurs.

Excellent location and lovely condo

We spent two weeks on Sanibel at this condo and thoroughly enjoyed our time. The pictures are very accurate and depict the condo well. It is beautifully decorated with quality furniture and everything coordinated. Plantation shutters throughout. The bed was very comfortable and the master bedroom and bath quite large. The kitchen/living/dining is open plan which makes it very bright. And the view of the Gulf is unobstructed and wonderful. Although the condo is on the first level, the first level is raised so you are not on ground level. And all the vegetation is clipped back so the view is not obstructed. The patio is a decent size with a table and 4 chairs and is screened in to keep the bugs out. We appreciated having a washer and dryer. The kitchen was well equipped with nothing missing that we needed. There are beach chairs, umbrellas, and sand toys available in the storage closet below. And it is steps from the beach which was so very convenient. Great central location; quiet, on the bike path, and only a 5 minute drive to any restaurant. Only thing to note it that the description states there is a computer available for use. While there is a computer table, there is no computer. We brought our laptop so that wasn't an issue. There is wi-fi throughout which was convenient and allowed us to leave our computer on the kitchen breakfast counter for use. We rented bikes and spent most of the week biking the island. Highly recommended place to stay. We were sorry to leave.

Owner's Response: Guest is ABSOLUTELY ACCURATE on ALL COUNTS including missing computer. That is our oversight. We removed the desktop computer a while ago now that guests travel with their own devices but forgot to remove "computer" from our listing. Have now corrected listing.

Great Condo

We had a great time here. Location is great, on the beach and a short ride to restaurants and shops. Nice quiet, clean and well stocked condo. Also, the view is better than picture in the slide show implies.

Sanibel is a Natural Paradise, 70% Nature Preserve, No Chain Stores, Miles of Sandy White Beaches, over 30 miles of Bike Paths through Nature Preserves and to Delightful Boutiques, Galleries, and Restaurants, Kayak or Canoe the Mangroves in the National Wildlife Refuge or Fish the Local Waters, Island Water Fowl is replete, see Otters, Turtles, Manatees, and Dolphins, visit the Shell Museum, Play Golf, or Cruise to nearby Island Keys, visit the Ford/Edison Museums in Fort Myers, browse Factory Outlets, discover Naples, go to a MLB Spring Training Game, also, we are only a three-hour drive from Orlando for a combination vacation.
