About Dr. Robert L Fredericks

I retired from a career as a dentist and a business managment consultant in 2007. After running 38 Marathons I decided it was time to take it easy in Mexico

Dr. Robert L Fredericks purchased this house in 2007

Why Dr. Robert L Fredericks chose Allende

I have known about San Miguel de Allende since 1975 and always wanted a custom built contemporary home. I found I could afford both in Mexico.

What makes this house unique

I enjoy living in a beautiful home and experiencing the wonderful warm culture of Mexico and my Mexican neighbors. It is like living in a small town with all the cultural amenities of a much larger city. Great restaurants, shopping, opera, art galleries, and an organic Frarmer's Market.

Stylish and comfortable, with first class amenities, strong WiFi signal. Bob was our gracious host; very helpful with restaurant suggestions and anything else you might need. Would stay again in a heartbeat!

Great house!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay in San Miguel. Dr. Bob was a great host and the house as advertised. Although about 20 minutes from the jardin the walk was not difficult. Lots of restaurants, a deli, an organic grocery as well as a regular grocery within a 10-15 minute walk. Also, taxis are readily available everywhere. We fell in love with San Miguel and think this will be our new winter get away. Goodbye Key West!

I came, I saw, I shall return but not soon enough

Great host. Superb accommodations with architecture to marvel at.

Mexican neighborhood with real people as in real friendly. Close to lively Ancha de San Antonio with a great selection of eateries (Try BaBite) and markets including what I call gringa markets.

One caveat: Twenty five minute walk to the Jardin. Come home slimmer.

Would stay again in a heartbeat. That said after a 30 day stay. Thanks Bob for being so helpful.

Great value, beautiful home in SMA.

  • 5 of 5

Bob, the owner was a very pleasant and nice man. The home itself is a perfect example of Mexican contemporary architecture. The Colonial Allende neighbor appears a little rough on the edges but we never felt unsafe and people were pleasant. We walked the streets at all hours. The property is within a 20 min walk of the Centro. Taxis run everywhere and they are very cheap, 50 pesos. Be prepared with good supportive shoes as the streets are all cobblestone and rough on your feet and ankles. There is a fair amount of noise at times but that seemed to be the culture more than the neighborhood. All in all it was a very good value and the home is beautiful. Well kept and equipped and for those of you who need WiFi and U.S. TV, Bob had that as well.

We found the food to be relatively inexpensive and good for the most part. For those of you looking to relocate to SMA the housing market is based on U.S. prices. Very expensive in the Centro area. On the outer edges not so bad in terms of pricing. The architecture is beautiful here.

Make sure to go to La Grutta, a hot spring grotto.

Do the hot air balloon ride, the Canada de la Virgen, pyramid. Botanical Gardens, Fabrica de Aurora, the Jardin, the Parroquia. There is a lot to do. The weather was fantastic!

Reccomended resturants:

Cafe Rama breakfast and lunch.

Lavanda cafe breakfast and lunch. Best

Moxie lunch and dinner. Best

Los Milagros lunch and dinner.

LA Luna roof top in the Rosewood Hotel for tapas and drinks at sunset. Incredible views. Best

Thanks Bob we had a great time!

Contemporary Mexican Casita in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico

  • 5 of 5

This was our first visit to San Miguel and we will be back again soon! This Casita was so special, as was our "host with the most", Bob! He was a huge help to us while we were visiting and was always so accommodating! His home is conveniently located (not too close to the very active town), very well appointed, open and airy, safe, has great views, easy walk or taxi to town, close to restaurants and other activities....what more can I say!!! A gem of a "home away". If you're thinking of visiting it soon, you won't have any complaints about your's simply wonderful in every way!!! We just wish it was ours!!!!
