We love traveling to the Big Island to get away from the hustle and bustle of the Mainland. We love the ocean, beaches, water sports and hiking, so the Big Island fulfills all of our getaway needs.
Jim De Alba purchased this condo in 2002
We first visited the Big Island in 2002, and fell in love with the Island and the incredible diversity, from dry sunny beaches to rain forests and volcanoes. This particular location is really ideal because of its stellar views, proximity to the Kona Village and to all the wonderful activities available within a few blocks, as well as easy access to the entire Kona Coast area. And the rest of the Big Island just adds to myriad of activities available.
We really like to walk and swim in the morning and Alii Drive, the premiere running, walking and riding destination is only one block away. After our walk, we can swim in the Kona Bay along with others that swim daily. AT night, we can walk down to the art galleries and restaurants, listen to the waves and watch night volleyball games. Three days a week there is a farmer's Market within eyesight of our condo, with fresh vegetables, fruit, coffee, baked goods and sweets. All this and no driving required!
The place was just as listed regarding location, walking distance to the village where there were plenty of places to shop, eat and relax looking out at the ocean. Watched the sunset from the balcony of the condo. Place was clean and had all the amenities needed. Jim and Debbie always got back to me when I had questions. We enjoyed our stay, and we were on the go most of the time seeing the island. Had a great time one morning with our little 1 year old grandson watching a cruise line in the ocean waters from our balcony.
Great condo, great view, great location and nice people to deal with!
We could not have asked for a better place to stay! My husband and I were looking for a condo to sleep us and his immediate family, since we were all in town for a wedding. Everyone in the wedding party agreed that we had found the best place to stay. This condo is just a short walk to the main street/beach, where there are tons of restaurants and cute shops. It is also right next to the Kona Islander Inn, where the rest of the wedding party was staying.
The condo was clean, updated, comfortable, kept cool (via fans and breeze at night and AC units during the day), and best of all--roach and bug-free! (Which is not an easy feat in Hawaii.) Since this condo is on the 7th floor, you have a great view of the coastal sunset and the condo catches a great breeze. There were plenty of beach towels, a couple chairs, and numerous coolers. The kitchen has anything you need to cook. The bed linens were great--particularly compared to some of the other rental places we have stayed.
Jim was wonderful--he responded right away to any of my questions and was exceedingly patient during the booking process, since it was hard to corral the family into agreement in a timely manner. Overall, an incredible landing pad for our Hawaiian adventures! Highly recommended!
Everything worked it perfectly for our group. The location was very walkable to all of Kona. I would highly reccomendation staying here.
My family stayed in this condo for a week, and had a very nice time. The location is excellent, and allows for walking access to most Kona restaurants. The unit is very large and well furnished. There are two full bathrooms, and a redone kitchen. Two of the three bedrooms have large Japanese style sliding doors for privacy. This may seem odd at first, but worked quite well. The unit is air conditioned, which we needed during the hot Kona summer.
The unit has one parking spot.
The views out on to the water are excellent, as the unit is quite high up.
The building seems to have an issue with ants. While this was a bit off putting, we stored almost all food in the refrigerator, and washed dishes right after use. This seemed to alleviate most of the issue.
We stayed here for 4 nights and left very happy. Our party was 5 adults.
The location is walking distance to tons of restaurants, bars and the beach. 2 of the 3 bedrooms have an ocean view (minor obstruction by a church below).
There are ceiling fans everywhere (which we used constantly to combat the heat), spare towels and beach gear.
The kitchen is well stocked and there was nothing we were missing during our stay. There are useful items left either by the owner or by previous renters (plastic wrap for food, hydrogen peroxide, minor household items that you might suddenly need).
There's only one parking spot assigned so plan accordingly. You have quick and easy access to the HWY and there's a grocery store just up the street.
The owner is very responsive and quickly addressed all of our concerns.
I could not find a better rental for anywhere close to the price we paid and we would absolutely stay here again if needed.
This is an ideal location to use a base on the Big Island. Always good weather and easy access to all parts of the Island. Or, just hang out in Kona, there's plenty to do, or not! Restaurants and shops a block from condo. Views and sunsets from the condo are spectacular!
