Located in the exclusive community of Windermere Island, you are invited to be a guest at the Club at Windermere during your stay. Member owned, the Club is open from late November through mid May. During peak periods, lunch and dinner are served in the dining room, and other activities, such as pool-side buffets and West Beach barbeques are held. Club facilities also include a game room and lending library. A large pool and two tennis courts are available for use year-round.
Windermere Island sits just off the Atlantic coast of Eleuthera near the settlement of Savannah Sound in central Eleuthera. Accessible by a guarded bridge, Windermere is 5 miles long with a beautiful wide pink sand beach running its entire length. On the west side of Windermere, West Beach allows access to the calmer waters of Savannah Sound, known for its many acres of bonefish flats.
If your idea of a luxury vacation is to relax in a tropical island home, away from the crowds and off the beaten path, then Surf Song is the ideal location for you, your family and friends.

About Stuart Beringer
My family and I have been vacationing on Eleuthera since the 1970's. After falling in love with the island we purchased a 2 bedroom condominium at Windermere, which was frequently visited and enjoyed for many years. When our sons got married and started having children we built our dream home on the Windermere beach: Surf Song. Please reach out with any questions about Surf Song or Eleuthera. We can help arrange rental cars, fishing and snorkeling excursions, recommend restaurants and things to do and see.
Stuart Beringer purchased this House in 1989
Why Stuart Beringer chose Central Eleuthera
Spectacular view and proximity to the beach. Also has a pool. House lives and entertains beautifully. Four bedrooms ( two of which are masters) all with en-suite bathrooms. Expansive great room with dining provides ample seating and an unbeatable view.
What makes this House unique
No home on Windermere is closer to, or has a better view of, its beautiful pink sand beach and the Atlantic ocean. Come enjoy the Surf Song!

Amazing Beach with accomodations to match
My family had a wonderful time staying at Surf Song this past week. The house was beautiful and fully equipped. It was perfect for the two families that were sharing it. We have elementary aged children who loved the pool and the beach access. The beach is the best on Eleuthera. We love the central location of the house, you can spend all day at the beach in front of the house or get in the car and go to one of the other lovely beaches nearby. The kitchen was recently updated and made cooking a breeze. We have stayed in various properties on Eleuthera and this was by far the best maintained property and had the best equipment in the kitchen. We loved seeing Winnie every morning. She is full of knowledge about the island and she kept the house fresh and clean and put fresh flowers in every room! We are looking forward to coming back next year!
Completely exceeded our expectations
The house is beautifully appointed classic Bahamian. Art is gorgeous. Large bedrooms with baths and all ocean views. The kitchen is a dream to cook in..fully stocked with every gadget. Views are amazing and location close to clubhouse. Winnie and Jeff are there to clean and take care of property..very gracious and knowledgeable. No need for AC. The breeze is constant and every room has fans. Will definitely stay there as often as possible.
DO NOT STAY DURING SUMMER MONTHS...NO A/C..HOT, HOT, HOT!
While we were surprised to learn that there is NO AIRCONDITIONING in a house of this size, the FANS in the house DID NOT WORK, there was NO TELEPHONE SERVICE or TV/CABLE SERVICE for the children! THE POOL WAS FILTHY UPON ARRIVAL! THE BEACH access was the saving grace for this property, which may have been acceptable once upon a time. And the owner, was quite rude about the LACK OF FACILITIES.

We have been renting Surf Song for almost 30 years and have never had a renter ask fewer question before booking, or ignore my offers to help them plan their trip. And, most importantly, we have never had anyone make the error of assuming our house was air conditioned. Then, to be accused of misleading you (that was some email - talk about rude) is just too much.
While I am very sorry that your stay at Surf Song wasn't what you expected, your inability to accept any of the responsibility for assuming our home was air conditioned is beyond my comprehension.
Let me start by saying I have been all around the world to some of the most amazing beaches including the Seychelles, Amirante Islands etc. Windermere Island is a special quiet little slice of paradise that you don't have to travel across the world to get to (at least for me) Surf Song is perfection!!! It's comfortable and very homey! The view is amazing! The sound of the ocean in the rooms is unparalleled!!!! My advice take a chair down to the beach and a book and chill! Leave your phone off at the house! My tip would be to bring shampoo and conditioner as these are not easily purchased on the island. If you are picky also buy a foam divider to make the twin beds into a seamless king bed. We saw 2 other couples on the beach on our trip but that was it. It's really a quiet secluded get back to nature and the simple life kind of place. I would recommend staying as long as possible. I only had 4 days and it took me that long to relax. I cannot wait to get back to surf song again soon.
Great stay on Windermere Island at Surf Song
Stayed 11 days at Surf Song, a beautiful property on Windermere beach. The home is as close to the waves as you can possibly build properly so the whole home is filled with the sound of ocean all the time hence the name. The large sliding doors on all sides of the main room open wide on 3 sides plus the front doors as well so the breeze blows through the whole home so even though there is no AC, it wasn't needed. The island is very peaceful and the beaches on March break are very uncrowded. The beach is very, very wide and beautiful for walks and running. The club was great for dinner, it is intimate and everyone gathers at the bar before dinner where you can easily strike up a conversation if you wish. The staff are very friendly and provide great service. Eleuthera in general is a very special island, but it is not for everyone, it is hard to describe but it is not Nassau, relatively speaking there is very little in the way of tourist infrastructure, no night life except a few things like the fish fry at Governors Harbor and band night at Tippy's but really Eleuthera is like a place a bit at the end of the world and everyone who comes back here or lives there pretty much wants to keep it that way! We agree with those folks and keep going back. The locals are amazing, everyone knows everyone and are so friendly. Windermere Island is part of but again different than Eleuthera, it is more like a private club of homes in Bermuda than Eleuthera but still with those amazing unpopulated beaches Eleuthera is famous for. So while staying at Surf Song you can have a bit of Eleuthera's raw, unspoiled side as well as if you want a bit more refinement, you can retreat to Windermere Island and Surf Song.
Lovely home in a beautiful setting
Surf Song is a lovely family home on Windermere Island Eleuthera.
We really enjoyed our time in the Bahamas. Our hosts were great people and easy to deal with, resolving any issue swiftly.
The house is clean and modern, in a lovely private location, with everything you go to the Bahamas for on your doorstep.
The people of the Bahamas are friendly and keen to help you enjoy your vacation.
We recommend Surf Song for your family holidays.
Windermere Island is centrally located on Eleuthera, which makes it an ideal home base for exploring all that Eleuthera has to offer. The two major towns on Eleuthera, Rock Sound and Governor’s Harbour, are each about a 25 minute car ride. Many of the island’s best stores and restaurants can be found there (or somewhere in between).
The best advice I can give anyone traveling to Eleuthera is to rent a car. The true beauty of the island can only be experienced by exploring its many pink sand beaches. The water on both the Atlantic and Caribbean is crystal clear and full of life.
My personal favorite is Lighthouse beach, which makes a great day-trip as it is situated on the southeastern point of Eleuthera, about an hour south of Windermere. It has great reefs for snorkeling and miles of that beautiful pink sand. Pack a picnic and go. You may be the only one there. Another favorite that is closer is Ten Bay Beach. On the Caribbean between Savannah Sound and Palmetto Point, Ten Bay is a long, shallow beach that is perfect on days when the wind is from the east. Great for kids, just shuffle your feet through the sand and you’ll be sure to find a sand dollar! These are just two of the multitude of beaches that define Eleuthera’s coastline. Some are well marked, others less so. Get in your car and go.
Besides its beaches, here are a number of interesting thing to do and see during your visit:
Fishbone Tours, Savannah Sound – Let Capt. Bubba (aka Julius Rankine) take you on a tour by boat of Savannah Sound and show you parts of Windermere Island you never knew existed. Fish, snorkel, and catch turtles.
Oceanview Farm, Governor’s Harbour – Ever wanted to ride a horse on the beach? Now’s your chance to scratch that off the bucket list.
Leon Levy Native Plant Preserve, Governor’s Harbour – Only a few years old, the preserve contains botanical treasure of native plants, good displays and easy walking trails. There are remarkable water features, and beautiful views. You will gain a real sense of Bahamian history here.
Ocean Hole, Rock Sound – The Ocean Hole is world renowned. Come feed the multitude of fish that live here, swim and snorkel. This naturally occurring blue hole is over 600 feet deep.
Island Farm, Palmetto Point – Your source for fresh produce, fresh baked breads, jams & jellies, dressings & pestos, honey and hot sauce. Yum!
Tarpum Bay Pier – every day (weather permitting) the fishermen bring their catch back to the dock at about 2-3pm. Fresh grouper, snapper, lobster and the “catch of the day” are available for purchase. Nothing tastes as good as fresh fished cooked and eaten the same day it was caught.
Bonefishing, Everywhere – Whether you wish to do-it-yourself or hire a guide, Eleuthera has numerous bonefishing flats where you can try your skill.
This is just a small sampling of the fun things to do and see on Eleuthera. Let us know what you are looking for and we will try our best to point you in the right direction.
