Perched on one of the world’s most beautiful beaches, Surf Song offers a casual oasis for up to eight guests. The home was designed to take maximum advantage of the views of the beach, with all four bedrooms and the living room opening to a wide outdoor veranda only steps from the ocean waters.
Surf Song is a much loved home, elegantly furnished in a relaxed manner. Upon first arriving you will notice the fresh water splash pool – the perfect place to cool off after a day of island exploring. Once inside, the large octagonal living room is the center of activity where people gather for meals and conversation. A fully equipped kitchen and entertainment center will satisfy any desire. Each of Surf Song’s four bedrooms has its own bath. Two bedrooms are furnished with king size beds; the other two have two twin beds each.
Our housekeeper, Winnie, arrives every morning with fresh flowers to clean and tidy up. She is sure to make your stay comfortable and worry free.
Located in the exclusive community of Windermere Island, you are invited to be a guest at the Club at Windermere during your stay. Member owned, the Club is open from late November through mid May. During peak periods, lunch and dinner are served in the dining room, and other activities, such as pool-side buffets and West Beach barbeques are held. Club facilities also include a game room and lending library. A large pool and two tennis courts are available for use year-round.
Windermere Island sits just off the Atlantic coast of Eleuthera near the settlement of Savannah Sound in central Eleuthera. Accessible by a guarded bridge, Windermere is 5 miles long with a beautiful wide pink sand beach running its entire length. On the west side of Windermere, West Beach allows access to the calmer waters of Savannah Sound, known for its many acres of bonefish flats.
If your idea of a luxury vacation is to relax in a tropical island home, away from the crowds and off the beaten path, then Surf Song is the ideal location for you, your family and friends.

My family and I have been vacationing on Eleuthera since the 1970's. After falling in love with the island we purchased a 2 bedroom condominium at Windermere, which was frequently visited and enjoyed for many years. When our sons got married and started having children we built our dream home on the Windermere beach: Surf Song.
Please reach out with any questions about Surf Song or Eleuthera. We can help arrange rental cars, fishing and snorkeling excursions, recommend restaurants and things to do and see.
Stuart Beringer purchased this house in 1989
Spectacular view and proximity to the beach. Also has a pool. House lives and entertains beautifully. Four bedrooms ( two of which are masters) all with en-suite bathrooms. Expansive great room with dining provides ample seating and an unbeatable view.
No home on Windermere is closer to, or has a better view of, its beautiful pink sand beach and the Atlantic ocean. Come enjoy the Surf Song!
Surf Song was a wonderful way to enjoy our week on Windermere. My son and wife thought the kitchen appointments and utensils were a real plus especially since we like cooking at home so we can enjoy the beach, pool and the house.
The approximate location of the pool to the the house made the opportunity to enjoy it more especially for my granddaughter Pippa. Winnie was so delightful always smiling and being helpful.
Thanks to all the Beringer family. The accommodations provided the foundation for some truly wonderful memories. Hope we have a chance to rent this wonderful home in the future.
Surf Song is a lovely family home on Windermere Island Eleuthera.
We really enjoyed our time in the Bahamas. Our hosts were great people and easy to deal with, resolving any issue swiftly.
The house is clean and modern, in a lovely private location, with everything you go to the Bahamas for on your doorstep.
The people of the Bahamas are friendly and keen to help you enjoy your vacation.
We recommend Surf Song for your family holidays.
This house is situated perfectly to take advantage of the amazing view and breezes. The grandchildren just loved going from the ocean to the pool. We had a wonderful time and the home is very accommodating to all needs. The housekeeper came in every day and we truly enjoyed being spoiled. Also, the club has friendly social people and is a nice night out. The perfect spot.
With updated kitchen and bathrooms, Surf Song is better than ever. A perfect, relaxing family vacation! Beach cannot be beat.
OWNER AND STAFF:
- Exceptional in all regards - both home and grounds services were tested in various ways during our long stay, with always favorable results
- Apart from normal wear and tear, we found everything in good repair throughout
- All fundamental kitchen supplies and appliances were available and working
- All basic bed and bath supplies and plumbing were available and working
- Lamps, fans, electrical, water...all available and working as expected
- Several beach supplies (chairs, umbrellas) were available and working as expected
- Wireless Internet (essential these days) was consistently available, though back-bedrooms were out of range. This can easily be solved by repositioning the wireless router
- Rained heavily one of the nights - no roof leaks
THINGS TO DO:
- Exceptional beach, one of the best in the world and isolated at that
- It's a long swim to snorkel the off-shore coral, don't try unless you have open ocean skills
- Beyond Surf Song, while the "tourist" prices are typically high on the island, as with most locations in the Caribbean if you get yourself off the beaten path you will find the true island flavors, experiences and souvenir deals
- Encountered zero safety issues during our stay - following owner's contact advice is always a good idea
- Rock Sound Groceries delivered all provisions for the stay for $40. Here to prices run high, but those things are expensive for everyone on the island, not just visitors
I would highly recommend Surf Song.
My family and I have just returned from an amazing visit to Surf Song. The house is perfectly situated on a beautiful beach...no drawing straws to see who gets which room...the views and breezes are fantastic from all of them! The house is very well-appointed and the lovely caretaker comes daily to tidy up. Snorkeling, fishing, long walks, building sand castles, star-gazing, ETC. are literally steps away from the house. We went to bed at night exhausted from all of the fun each day. To top it all off, the sound of the surf was the perfect note on which to fall sleep...hypnotic to say the least. The only problem is that leaving Surf Song is difficult to do! We look forward to future visits....thank you
We had a wonderful, relaxing family vacation at Surf Song. This was our second trip to Eleuthera and first to Windermere. The house layout was perfect for two families (each with 2 young children ranging in age from 4-9). The kids loved the pool and the beach is lovely and kid-friendly. There was a parasol and beach toys which we made good use of. The house is well appointed and comfortable, and the views from the common area are great. We love the laid back atmosphere of the island and go there to unwind and reconnect as a family. Winnie kept the house clean and tidy and spoiled us with her beautiful fresh flower arrangements. Surf Song is beautiful, and we have already started daydreaming about our next trip! Thank you to the owners for sharing this special place.
Windermere Island is centrally located on Eleuthera, which makes it an ideal home base for exploring all that Eleuthera has to offer. The two major towns on Eleuthera, Rock Sound and Governor’s Harbour, are each about a 25 minute car ride. Many of the island’s best stores and restaurants can be found there (or somewhere in between).
The best advice I can give anyone traveling to Eleuthera is to rent a car. The true beauty of the island can only be experienced by exploring its many pink sand beaches. The water on both the Atlantic and Caribbean is crystal clear and full of life.
My personal favorite is Lighthouse beach, which makes a great day-trip as it is situated on the southeastern point of Eleuthera, about an hour south of Windermere. It has great reefs for snorkeling and miles of that beautiful pink sand. Pack a picnic and go. You may be the only one there. Another favorite that is closer is Ten Bay Beach. On the Caribbean between Savannah Sound and Palmetto Point, Ten Bay is a long, shallow beach that is perfect on days when the wind is from the east. Great for kids, just shuffle your feet through the sand and you’ll be sure to find a sand dollar! These are just two of the multitude of beaches that define Eleuthera’s coastline. Some are well marked, others less so. Get in your car and go.
Besides its beaches, here are a number of interesting thing to do and see during your visit:
Fishbone Tours, Savannah Sound – Let Capt. Bubba (aka Julius Rankine) take you on a tour by boat of Savannah Sound and show you parts of Windermere Island you never knew existed. Fish, snorkel, and catch turtles.
Oceanview Farm, Governor’s Harbour – Ever wanted to ride a horse on the beach? Now’s your chance to scratch that off the bucket list.
Leon Levy Native Plant Preserve, Governor’s Harbour – Only a few years old, the preserve contains botanical treasure of native plants, good displays and easy walking trails. There are remarkable water features, and beautiful views. You will gain a real sense of Bahamian history here.
Ocean Hole, Rock Sound – The Ocean Hole is world renowned. Come feed the multitude of fish that live here, swim and snorkel. This naturally occurring blue hole is over 600 feet deep.
Island Farm, Palmetto Point – Your source for fresh produce, fresh baked breads, jams & jellies, dressings & pestos, honey and hot sauce. Yum!
Tarpum Bay Pier – every day (weather permitting) the fishermen bring their catch back to the dock at about 2-3pm. Fresh grouper, snapper, lobster and the “catch of the day” are available for purchase. Nothing tastes as good as fresh fished cooked and eaten the same day it was caught.
Bonefishing, Everywhere – Whether you wish to do-it-yourself or hire a guide, Eleuthera has numerous bonefishing flats where you can try your skill.
This is just a small sampling of the fun things to do and see on Eleuthera. Let us know what you are looking for and we will try our best to point you in the right direction.
